hahahah that image is ace
Nice bam bam!
You cannot kill him before he uses Hellfire, he'll use it @20% no matter if a minute has passed since nails or 10 seconds.
Hey BG go make a real vid than post here thx trollers lol self proclaim #1 na shell lmfao
Not trolling, Mog posted their speed run so we posted ours. The only semi troll was a simple "lol @ animation lock" which you didnt even post. Relax.
I'm not BG but I recorded a 5:05 Ifrit kill (timed by the instance timer at the last moment before it disappears at the end) we did with 3 LNC 3 MRD CON THM that shows the "early Hellfire" trigger also. I was going to hold off uploading it to see if we could do <5 first though.
Huh?

Who was using what first now?
Not sure where all this random animosity is coming from Bam. You posted an accomplishment on a public forum looking for recognition and you expect people not to reply back to it with their own accomplishments, even if they are better than yours? You got multiple heartfelt congratulations on your kill so just take the other stuff with a grain of salt and move on.
Also we were stacking LNC on 10/04/11 so im not sure where
comes fromQuote:
Also we were stacking n using lancer way before u guys got ur kill .
Either way we gave you something more to shoot for. Go go 3~4 minute kill. Push yourself harder and stop spazzing out broseph.
I would like to point out that you sir, started the "who-did-what-first" with calling out about Lancers. I just wished to point out a correction is all. However, I do not wish to further argue or name call with anyone. It puts both of ourselves, friends, and Linkshells in a bad position with negative emphasis. I would like to just note for the record that as a Linkshell we do not hate nor troll. There are members within the ranks that do enjoy a little fun, but in no means is the limited to just our organization. By definition, you fit those connotations just as much as I do and that is something I am sure neither of us wish to be referred to as. If you feel the need to further commentate in a negative fashion, I believe everyone would enjoy the laugh at your expense. Something I don't wish for.
On a positive note, I do hope that we can indeed post some new videos soon. However, it seems that we will be having to wait for another month or two for the next big fight to emerge. Something I cannot wait for. For the time being, I'll just be working on solo clearing the Beastman Strongholds and getting a video.
Hey Bam, umadbro?
^
That's trolling, not what you're putting it out to be LOL
I proclaim this thread to be chock full of entertainment.
GJ posters!
it really is true and we were having the same discussion on vent about it today. I honestly wouldn't have as much fun as I do in Ifrit if there was no animation lock. I mean yeah sure the novelty of it is great and all but it only lasts so long. Animation lock adds another layer to the mix (albeit a limitation set by the terrible engine should never define the difficulty of the fight) and I hope the encounters in 2.0 are 100x more fleshed out.
Easy or not, it's bloody fun to watch, which is why I don't mind it at all when people post up their speed runs.
Let's keep in mind though that Ifrit is only the first of the Primals, and that most scripted fights in any MMOs become 'easy' once you get to know their tricks.
From a spectator's point of view, each of these fights are pretty epic. And we've no idea how things will change going forward.
Anyways, good vid. I'm really hoping more gameplay vids fill in from the game as it evolves as it might catch people's interests to play.
Wow lots of views and feedback!
Yeah I buffed up without using them properly, was short on TP - looks like I used them on Full Thrust to prevent a 0 dmg 0 tp. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess =P
The slightly slower run was a lot cleaner, and instance timer time on astral differs by ~40sec. I really need to level up other jobs as well, LNC is my only 50 ^^
Does the parser start it's parse time based off first hit or timer on the instance? I know we have to engage quicker and probably stop screwing around with Collusions, I think the tank first aggro'd @ 29:33.
From personally watching the timing in the fight and checking the time on the parser the times listed on my parses are generally only a few seconds off at max, i also use a /echo . macro when ifrit dies to force an update which makes the timing more accurate.
And the parser is started just before the first auto attack hits the boss so yeah we would have started the fight around 29:35ish on the timer making our best with 4 lancers 5minutes 7 seconds or so, we also buff inside the bowl of embers most of the time mainly due to lazyness and force of habit.
Echo solution is pretty decent, but the extra hassle sucks. I can't wait until we get addon support and don't have to access and parse the logs like this.
I haven't seen a memory-reading parser yet, can you point me in the right direction?
Don't really see why its crappy, the timing of the fight is usually accurate enough if done correctly and this has been proven by checking the parsers time to the actual fight length using fraps and the timer counter.
And damage done/taken is also perfectly accurate and has been proven by watching combat logs through fraps and tallying up the damage than comparing it to the parse.
It may not be the best way to do it but it works well and has helped me and several players in my LS improve our damage by alot and helped find the best way to do maximum damage during the fight.
I am interested in seeing parses from other LS's if people have found a better dps rotation on him but so far our highest has been 29.18 dps and we are pretty sure you can hit 33 dps if done perfectly and a little luck from full thrust.
Edit: Also the damage numbers on that parse only show damage done to ifrit and not to the nail aswell, you can easily do an extra 1k onto the nail with a fully buffed doomspike + auto's which means if you count nail damage aswell a lancer should be able to hit 36-37 dps, we don't count nail damage simply because aoe inflates damage a bit too much.
Peng may be British, but he has a piece of my heart.
nevermind~
This video made me smile.
Besaid was designated the role playing server by the gaming community wasn't it? It just puts a smile on my face when people enjoy the game and do silly things.
And the comments on YouTube FTW!!! Seriously, people don't know the up and down arrows let you move between your 3 action bars. O.o. Shudders...
This a joke or something? Most of us have been doing it within this time for awhile now.
Still lot of possible improvement I see in that movie. Positioning and even more so, reaction of the players could be a LOT better.
Other then that, grats.

What a predictable thread.
OP posts video of fight
Someone belittles accomplishment because killing dragons in video games is ~important business~
Thread quickly derails into e-peen contest between soulless nerds
people are still trying on ifrit?
To improve individual DPS:
Never use Comrade, make other people use it (1 use is 500 TP loss, and 1-2 AA loss (and the 475-950 TP)).
You can ignore 1 Eruption in Phase2 and Sentinel it, because it will be back up before Hellfire. IE don't worry about animation lock.
Might help:
-MRD will help an individuals DPS too, hello 1350 Chaos Thrust at the end or 1100 Doomspikes at the start though if you slow your kill down it might cause more dashs etc which slow down DPS even more.
- unbuffed CT vs unbuffed DS still is iffy to me, you get locked more using CT resulting in less AA's/TP but it does higher damage/TP than 3000% DS... haven't gotten around to figuring out which exactly is better. Might find a way to manage WS rotation better if this could be done.
We do a very cautious phase 5 so I'll never be able to break 30 DPS for the entire fight how we currently fight Ifrit but I've been able to stay at 32-34 range before the Nails drop (jump to something stupid like 38-40 dps during nails, like you say its dumb to count those). Forcing a log update for an accurate parser sorta stinks too.
Tyrith Peng (Penguin) almost hit 33 dps last night.

Problem with having a lancer exclusively using comrade to buff the other lancers and a MRD to try keep maim up is that you are effectively only going to be increasing 2-3 lancers and the increase is questionable compared to having all your lancers doing 29-30 dps which is entirely possible without comrade and maim.
I am positive if you were to go with 2 MRDs chaining maim, a Thm to absorb attack/def and 2 lancers to try to keep comrade up as much as possible than you could push a lancers dps up maybe even to 40 dps but its going to result in slower kills and is in my opinion just silly, its fun to see how high you can push 1 lancers dps sure but i cant see it being useful in any future fights over consistently high damage from all your dps.
Comrade is a nice buff though and its very noticeable when its up but if you are aiming for a speed kill it would need to have a decent uptime or the lancer using it would still need to put up decent dps numbers for it to be an overall dps increase. we haven't done enough speed run attempts for me to really provide any solid comparison.
Liked the quality of the video, thanks for posting.
Hey i know i promise not to post here anymore but i just couldnt help noticing the same trolls in this thread lol. Also please check part where Rich taunts bam for the 7 lnc run and bams gives it to him same day. I also like to bring to everyone attention that these people have brought trolling to a next level, and went as far as posting the troll on our youtube comments so thx guys for everyone reading and opening your eyes to the Trollers of the year.
