Take all the time necessary, family and friends are more important. Thank you for the update. Best wishes with the rebuilding.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all those in Japan including my family and friends currently out there. Take all the time needed.
to my friends in Japan, my best friend and roommate is in the Navy and is being deployed to you to help you in any which way possible. I have already started to gather things for children, like small toys and games, that my roommate can take with her to give to the children who have lost everything.
With the three nuclear power reactors malfunctioning, this game is Japan's least of their problems. If one of these reactors melt down there will be a release of radiation, much like the worst nuclear problem in history, Chernobyl, times THREE. I can't cant express my fear for the people of Japan and the fear of the east coasts of Asia and the west coats of Canada and the Untied States that will be effected by radiation poisoning.... This hole situation has me very scared. But on the positive side, the people of Japan are MUCH smarter than the people of Russia when Chernobyl melted down.
There are some amazing videos out there that people have caught first hand with cellphones and video cameras.

Note of warning: YouTube videos are always filled with comments from inbred closeminded idiots.
I can imagine that the servers will be down for a long time after something like this. I've been watching the news lately and it is shocking just how much was destroyed. I'm glad to see they are handling it well, I've seen seen and read about other countries handling earthquakes and tsunamis absolutely terribly compared to what is currently being done.
Add on the nuclear reactors though... This is a new situation. Dangerous and treacherous, it isn't going to be easy.
Japan, you can do it! *Motivation* Good luck! ^_^
As an American player I have no problem with this. Japan needs to conserve its energy right now; the safety and wellbeing of the people there are much more important than playing a game.
So, from America, take care of yourselves and worry about the important things first. We can wait.
I have a strong sense of empathy for the people of Japan in this crisis, and hope that this disaster gives pause to the creators of SE, perhaps having all of your eggs in one basket in Japan is not a good idea and a Server back up could be established in NA, or EU so as to serve as a back up for Final Fantasy gaming. Just a thought.....
Good luck and blessings to everyone over in Japan from America!!!
Best wishes from Spain. We do love Japanese people and our government is trying to aid as much as possible, same as other countries. You're not alone. Please, stay safe and don't lose hope. <3
I just want to echo everyone here - no need to be sorry and take as much time as you need. We'll all be here for you and when the servers come back online, we'll take it as a good sign that recovery has begun.
For now, stay safe and be strong!

All of our prayers and thoughts are with you Japan...
The Japanese people have a very stong heart, soul and spirit...
We Final Fantasy sisters and brothers around the world stand in strength and hope with our brothers and sisters in Japan. You are not alone! We grieve and pray for a fast recovery with you and all of your families during this crisis!
Japan's response to this disaster has been simply amazing to watch. I wish we could do more to help you all!
Text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to our brothers and sisters in Japan. Let's help them out, kupos.
No appology necessary! Shutting the servers is the right thing to do. My heart goes out to all of Japan. Please take care of yourselves and your families.
I'm very sad for all the ppl who lost their lovers , wishing from my heart they pass this crisis.
we all will be always supporting you SE.
My heart also goes out to everyone in Japan. I pray for you and your families to be safe. no apology is necessary, we will wait for you to come safely back to our humble Eorzea. I hope and pray for all of Japan to surpass this crisis.
英語では書けませんが日本の事を心配してくれてありがとうございますm(_ _)m
My thoughts and prayers go out to Japan and the SQUARE ENIX Staff. I will continue donating what I can to the Earthquake/Tsunami relief funds and pray for a quick recovery from this awful tragedy.
I fully support this decision. This is absolutely the right thing to do at this time. The development and creative direction for this game is based in Japan, and we have to remember that those are human beings. I'd like to think they are all safe and sound, and if that's so you have to remember they may have lost loved ones themselves. And even if that's not the case? This is an unprecedented disaster for Japan.
My thoughts and wishes are with the Square Enix team and the people of Japan. A week without a game is such a small thing compared to what Japan is going through right now. Let's take this time to think about our own families and be grateful for what we have.
Shut the servers down for months if needed. It's just a game. GL on the clean up effort. Honestly wish I could go out and help myself. It really broke my heart to see what happened on TV.
I was thankful and surprised the servers were kept on till now. I had time to make sure all my Japanese friends were ok ^^, thank you Square :). My condolences to any Japanese reading who lost someone.
My thoughts and prayers to the residents of Japan in this time of tragedy. I'm thinking of all of you.
Best regards.
Totally agree with temporarily shutting the servers down. I live in the U.S. and our thoughts and prayers are with all of our Japanese brothers. May you emerge from this disaster stronger than ever!
Was looking at the TEPCO website today, because I haven't actually seen any of the news coverage on the disaster. It seems 3 of their 6 units took damage in the quake.
That's good, and bad. Good because half of the plant seems to be ok, and bad because half has taken damage. I am glad that there wasn't a meltdown, and hope that they can get repairs completed quickly. That way there will be no more power shortages, and people will be able to use electronic devices like heating blankets, portable heaters, etc. to help keep warm, and all of the emergency relief people won't have to operate off of portable generators and rationed energy. :) At the same time, it would allow residents to use power in their homes, and eventually commercial industries (like SE) will be able to turn things back on.
Excerpt for reference:
All 6 units of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station have been shut down.
[There is no update from the previous press release.]
Unit 1(Shut down)
- Reactor has been shut down. However, the unit is under inspection due
to the explosive sound and white smoke that was confirmed after the big
quake occurred at 3:36PM.
- We have been injecting sea water and boric acid which absorbs neutron
into the reactor pressure vessel.
Unit 2(Shut down)
- Reactor has been shut down and Reactor Core Isolation Cooling System
has been injecting water to the reactor. Current reactor water level is
lower than normal level, but the water level is steady. After fully
securing safety, measures to lowering the pressure of reactor
containment vessel has been taken, under the instruction of
the national government.
Unit 3(Shut down)
- Reactor has been shut down. However, as High Pressure Core Injection
System has been automatically shut down and water injection to
the reactor was interrupted, following the instruction by
the government and with fully securing safety, steps to lowering
the pressure of reactor containment vessel has been taken. Spraying
in order to lower pressure level within the reactor containment vessel
has been cancelled.
- After that, safety relief valve has been opened manually, lowering
the pressure level of the reactor, which was immediately followed
by injection of boric acid water which absorbs neutron, into
the reactor pressure vessel.
Unit 4 (shut down due to regular inspection)
- Reactor has been shut down and sufficient level of reactor coolant
to ensure safety is maintained.
- Currently, we do not believe there is any reactor coolant leakage
inside the reactor containment vessel.
Unit 5 (outage due to regular inspection)
- Reactor has been shut down and sufficient level of reactor coolant
to ensure safety is maintained.
- Currently, we do not believe there is any reactor coolant leakage
inside the reactor containment vessel.
Unit 6 (outage due to regular inspection)
- Reactor has been shut down and sufficient level of reactor coolant
to ensure safety is maintained.
- Currently, we do not believe there is any reactor coolant leakage
inside the reactor containment vessel.
I've never been great at giving comforting words without sounding stupid, but I hope it works: I wish all the people of Japan a speedy recovery, and mourn the loss of the family and friends of those hit by the worst.
And Square, don't worry about us, we'll be here, tend to everyone there, and stay strong^^
Aye...after what i just heard on the news... it's like it wont end.
So ya ...you have my sympathy.
I'd even be willing to start paying a monthly fee if/when the service is back up again,
just to show my support in rebuilding what's been lost.
Besides, who wouldnt want to get payed for their hard earned work?
Take your time, i can wait ^.^)b
I could not agree more.Quote:

Regarding shutting down the servers, it is understandable due to the japan situation and god be with them.
On behalf of the Saudi Arabia community, I wish and pray for the people in Japan to find their lost and stand again on their feet. God be with them and land them a hand from their disaster!!
No one could imagine what happened, what a disaster...
Forget the game because and try to recover yourself, that's the important thing. Like my players companions, I wish all the best for Japan and we're all with you, guys.
Best wishes from Spain
They are doing the right thing. We won't miss the game for a week. All the best to Japan
Best of luck to all the people in Japan from Portugal.

Apologize for my Japanese, maybe wrong, but I'm Italian and I had to use a translator.
I was in total shock when i heard all this, I think i speak for most if not all the Square Enix community but we wish you all the best through this difficult time. Also my prayers go with you all. God Bless
