That's kinda sad. When I moved to Gilgamesh, I was fully expecting this, but I have honestly found a lot of the opposite. There's people all over that are helpful just for the sake of being helpful. There's always crafters in PF offering free melds for others who don't have crafters leveled. In addition, I've met some awesome people that have helped me by crafting items that are beyond my stat level, and never demanded huge amounts of gil for their time. These are the people that I go out of my way to tip very, very nicely.Quote:

We're laid back, but are trying to rebuild our FC to get back to the way it was in the beginning. We have old players and new players and all are welcome. I do enjoy playing in Zalera a lot, even though I was forcefully dumped here, (I chose Siren, but sent to Zalera) I wouldn't leave here as I have lots of fun playing on this server and good loyal friends.Quote:

I guess the free company I was in was a bunch of freeloaders since I made them leve items for no profit, I guess wanting to help the community advance isn't something Jenova understands.

You can also monitor that Zalera forum, it's used fairly frequently when FCs are recruiting.
It usually gets a posting or two per week or so.
Or if you have an alt on Zalera already, I've seen recruiting PFs up every now and then, too.
There's also a great Facebook community. Pretty sure it's called "FFXIV: Zalera"

Usually you can find someone selling a house second hand but there are none available to just go buy. I assume this is the same for all servers given the limited amount of houses available.

If I were to try to say something general about the servers I've been on/had alts in:
Tonberry - by far the best server I've been on for pugging current content. The last time I had my main on the server (August, week 3 or 4 of Gordias progression) there were A3S practice PFs up daily, with experience ranging from tornado phase to last phase to fresh learning parties. Immensely populated world. However (and I know this is weird to say) the server is strangely cliquey in terms of FC and friend circles. Most JP party finders won't take any english speakers and keep to themselves, so that's about 50% of the population you won't interact with from the get go.
Brynhildr - started on this server and transferred after a short while so I can't say much, but it seemed strangely unfriendly to me. Another friend I know who transferred from there agrees that the "gitgud scrub" mantra is quite popular on that server.
Gilgamesh - again, can't say much because my alt is there only for shits and giggles, but it seems more like a melting pot now than it has in ARR. I see a lot of unskilled/toxic transfers i knew from smaller servers in PF trying to make a name for themselves and can't help but think that they're diluting the atmosphere. The PF/pug scene is massive and easily dwarfs any other NA server, though the skill levl of your average pug is decidedly less than on JP servers.
Sargatanas - my current server. Populated and down to earth, with a decently polite community. A little insular maybe, but people are generally friendly once you get to know them. What surprises me is the humility compared to other servers. People generally keep their ego in check and don't get too far ahead of themselves when they parse high.
Famfrit - server I spent the most amount of time on. It's a classic small server. The marketboard pricing is the most ridiculous I've seen and the raid scene is about as lively as a cactus, though I say that affectionately. It's easy to make a name for yourself on famfrit for better or worse, as nearly everyone on the server knows each other or has at least seen everyone running around in idyllshire/housing areas. Very social and friendly, and definitely a good place to make home as a casual player. Beware the traps in PF. -

Balmung has an amazing community of helpful people. I've never found myself without many volunteers for melds. Most of the friends I've made are just by randomly striking up conversation with someone idle wherever I was at the time. They're quite welcoming and kind, and I find that pretty common in every RP server I've visited on games.
Super hard housing situation though, as very rarely are there any houses for sale, and if so you can expect to spend 25 mill at least on a small. -

lol @ the people on this thread selling Coeurl as a bird and pony farm server... Please spare me some of your luck if you haven't come across the infamous "Coeurl farm," in which everyone in the party confirms they have the fight on farm... and then 80% of them die to the first mechanic--repeat until enough time has passed to vote abandon. Every time I see a "Ravana birb farm" in the PF, my first thought is "How willing am I to wipe due to others today?"
Coeurl, to me at least, seems divided pretty strongly between the raiders and everyone else: if you have a decent static on Coeurl, you can raid here as well and happily as on any server, but for new people coming here, getting into a good, dedicated group is extremely difficult. Casual players can definitely enjoy Coeurl (there's a strong "we'll get there eventually" mentality), but this server is very hard on middle-of-the-road players, which is where I'd put myself and most of my FC: good enough to progress, but not driven enough to become hardcore raiders; there aren't many options for this group on Coeurl. Trying to PF PUG one or two people to flesh out a raid party is almost always disastrous or your party may take hours to fill, and the population of the server is very low, so forming new groups and convincing really good new players to stick around is nightmarish.
Coeurl's economy is hideous as well, mostly due to the fact that the population is so low, the number of master crafters we have is equally low and supply can't keep up with demand. I hope you like sinking 5+ million into one phase of your new relic... I also suspect there are a crap ton of people on this server buying gil (judging by the literally relentless RMTs), causing further inflation.
Of course, because the population is low, there is some housing available. Mansions are hard to come by (only one available currently, at 55-ish mil, and it will be gone before it hits 45 mil) but there are some medium and small houses still available, at least one in each area, I would say. I would not suggest moving to Coeurl just for housing though. Not worth.
People are generally nice here, but not really nicer than any other given server? I think if you put in the effort, you can probably make good friends with like-minded people on any server you go to.
My summary of Coeurl is basically: "Well, I'm sure there's a worse server... somewhere..." Like someone else said, the primary thought process often boils down to "I should go somewhere else... but I like my FC too much."
You can have a positive experience on Coeurl (I do, most days)--but you could likely have a better experience elsewhere. -

Hyperion is quite nice. Hard to find capable end game pf groups and nearly impossible to find a house (you have to be really lucky) however it's quite friendly and doesn't feel empty :)
