The glamour for the eggis are probably going to be the minions skins
I've been asking SE this through various channels. Carbuncles are such a huge deal in their promotional approaches, marketing, and it trickles down in game, especially with housing (there's a ton of carbuncle items for housing), yet why remove carbuncles in job classes?
Carbuncles should be infused with the power of primals (summoner track), and faeries (scholar track). It's quite silly to completely rid them after level 30. Yet promotional posters at game stores are all of an arcanist playing with a carbuncle.
Even Alphinaud uses a carbuncle and can cast Physick to heal me for 6700 HP (during the quest to save you-know-who, to prevent spoilers). Why not the players?
I think Alexios meant that Alphi is using Carby, signifying that he's an Arcanist, but his Physick is healing for way more than an Arcanist's Physick would, implying that he's not a DPS Arcanist. Sure, he's an NPC and they tend to be buffed (heck, Papalymo's healing magic is also overpowered), but still...
I MEAN I WANT CARBY TO HEAL. LIKE COME ON xD
I mean we know Emerald Carby does magic DPS, and Topaz Carby does physical DPS, but we still have models for Ruby, Amber, and Onyx Carbies so surely one of them has to be able to heal... and buff. Plus even though I think it's only a minion, Heliodor Carbies exist too in some form.
I would love to have an healing carby instead of fairies so I am in favor to this.
Since we're touching the fairy subject, aside from having fairy glams and more fairy options in the future (fingers crossed), I'd like for each fairy to have different procs aside from the increased spell speed one when their embrace crits.
As long as this doesn't delay the work their doing for summoner I say why not. All they would have to do is implement new animations for it to look decent. If that's if they want to do it. Technically SCH dosen't really need it. This is a want not a need. It would be cooler though if they got a new fairy instead.
I would like a carby for scholars but honestly I would be happy with just being able to change the colors on Eos/Selene. Even if its already a set color scheme and you can pick one.
I'm all for having a carby healer, as i was leveling smn/sch i was disappointed in losing my carbies...they were just sooooo cute as they bounded following behind you trying to keep up as you went to get to the next quest or off to the next area. *starts chanting* "we want our carbies back!, give us our carbies back!"
SMN/SCH should both have the carbuncles as both SMN/SCH have access to Summon 1 and Summon 2. End of discussion. Although it is disappointing to see players clamor for the glamour instead of actual pet actions.
Take what you can get I guess.
You know this has happened SE hard to remake FF 14. From what I see the was on a tight dead line to give us FF14 ARR and what do we get a crapy Warlock wanna be as summoner from WOW they didn't have enough time to put real time and effort in SMN and the Egi's battle system imo this is the out come. They know bad they have messed up they also know how vocal we are about things and it seems the causal crowd out way the non casual gamers. When it comes to wants and needs. So why should SE put time and effort into something when they can just go the lazy route which is glamors. It's really dissoporting to be honest seeing the way things are happening in this game. But hey SE can do no wrong so what do I know.
I think the one thing for me is that Carby is really the only true "Summon" in the whole game and yet he is only around for such a short time. If they made the Egis more feral looking or actually look more life like I'd assume we would be less likely to complain? Regardless I still want it even though I don't touch it much myself. The idea of selecting a color of carbuncle even if its set per class would be fine to.
At least from my point of view I wouldn't need Emerald's or Topaz' skill sets. I'm a healer, I don't need a pet trying to steal aggro from the tank nor do I need a pet that will extend the duration of my DoTs, since while I DPS as a healer, it's not my focus. Plus people complain enough about healer DPS on this forum, giving SCH pets that boost their DPS or a pet that DPSes by itself is just asking for hell to open up.
So for me, arguing for the look of a carby but the skills of my fairies is a logical one.
Didn't they mention once that they plan to redesign gardua, titan and ifrit egi's to look more like the Primal's they are supposed to represent then just dazzling geodude crystals?
I really enjoy playing summoner but the design of the egi's are just bleh.
There is a good example of how the egi's should be like with that add in Ramuh's fights as it looks like a proper mini version of him.
I don't see that, honestly - the Ramuh-Egis in the Ramuh fight look as abstract as any of the others, in my mind. And since I actually LIKE the abstract look for the Egis, I was happy with how the Ramuh-Egis turned out.
I really don't think that casual vs. non-casual is a factor here. Both camps would LOVE to see a greater variety of summons and pet abilities.
You know....why couldn't the Egi's look like the Wind-Up minions? That's my question...
Blackcanary is sorta correct. Yoshi stated a couple times he didn't want summoner to be a complex class and using the egis more would make people overwhelmed. So in the end the summoner became more powerful and the egis forgotten, but what new game has any pet class be an actual pet class anymore?
Reeaallly wish this would have been answered. Q.Q I have a creeping hope and I don't want it to die D: <\3
Maybe if the summons designs weren't so bad you wouldn't have to make a glamour system for our own darn pets eh?
We have been waiting for it since they told us 3.0 would hit in bla bla.... I doubt it'll ever happen before 5.0
Rip the dream.
They said EGI glamour. Scholar uses fairies. So, no, the glamour is only for summoners. Carbuncles were/are tied to arcanists, which is considered a DPS class. It makes sense carbuncles can't heal and why the glamour hasn't been extended to scholars.
Another drawback from jobs stemming from classes.
They never said a when, though. Only they'd look into it. Now we know it's coming patch 3.5, which is scheduled for mid- January.
It makes more sense that summoners get it from a lore standpoint because Carbuncles themselves are offensive/defensive. I'm gonna guess the quest to unlock this will have something to do with the research the Arcanist Guild Master and what's her name with the pink hair were mentioned being up to after you finish the Arcanist quests.
I'm really looking forward to the update now. I love the Scholar faeries but the egis aren't much to look at. Garuda in particular is a bit of an eyesore and losing her contagion for a negligible DPS increase by changing to Ifrit hurts my MP and makes him hard to use in long fights.
By this logic, Scholar is the only job to not have a class Pre-HW. Scholars are Arcanists just as equally as SMN. If you are a scholar, at some point you learned to summon with carbuncles. You have access to all the basic arcanums. Carbuncles are just Aether Frankensteins and the fact that you could now sew the essence of primals into them stands to reason, even more easily, that you could sew the umbral and astral elements of Lilly into them as well. This is just a request, since the framework of development of Egis to carbuncles has been done, so too could Fairies to carbuncles.

That depends entirely on the gemstone, really.
Well, of course, he wanted an offensive carbuncle. Why would he summon anything else? The guide doesn't mention what qualities a carbuncle can have, nor what qualities a carbuncle can not have, hence SE is free to just pick a random untaken gemstone and say:"Yep, those can heal."
There's no barrier to it and no real reason to bar Scholars from the feature for the heck of it.
Yet it's never been suggested that they can in any instance.
The real reason to bar Scholars from it is because it'd be confusing for people if they got Carbuncles when only DPS classes used them previously. I'm not against the faeries getting an upgrade of their own(really stinks that the SCH equivalent of dreadwyrm trance is making your faerie leave) but using Carbuncle which has only ever been shown to be offensive or as a mini tank in FF XIV isn't the path they're going to take and they've now stated as much.
