Server maintenance

so because the maint time inconviences you.. you want it changed to inconvience some1 else?? makes sense lol

My off days are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, but I don't mind. I'll just play some Rainbow Six Siege or Elder Scrolls Online in the meantime.

Being as the time frame for the maintenance is during my prime time (mine is earlier than most Americans), I'm perfectly fine with the schedule that they have put in place.

Asia: from morning to late afternoon (During work time). Not complaining at all.

This in and of itself doesn't bother me that much (at least I can plan around it), as long as they don't jerk my chain and extend it like WoW constantly does with theirs. THAT ticks me off more than anything.

Its always prime time somewhere or a bad time no matter what for maintenance. Cannot make all timezones happy. What SE does do is change their times around to make it a little fair for everyone as requested by the ffxiv community ;)

Most of the development is in japan, isn't it? That's like the middle of the night for them.

4pm PST = 9am JST. In other words they are going to start the update at 9am and finish up around 7pm, Japanese Standard Tiime.

They always try to end maintenance for a patch right after the weekly reset. The only thing that makes this one look 'less convenient' is the start time. In the past is started at 2am as well and was just 24 hours of downtime usually. Looks like they don't need quite so much downtime with this one so it's going down at 4pm instead.

OP missed the obligatory "SE has doesn't care about its players because now I can't cap my tomes"

Which is always my favorite because those other 6.5+ days just were not enough to get 450 tomes...

Not quite right. If you look at the data, the times are the same each and every time. They are all designed to finish the afternoon in Japan on the day of the weekly reset. The start times change based on the amount of time they need. I think the really long ones (24 hours) are probably driven by physical changes in the regional data centers. Everything else can be done remotely.

The maintenance times are all driven by operations resource considerations. SE does NOT change and has never changed the times around to spread out customer impacts.

That doesn't apply this time though, ESO tomes will be uncapped with the patch so they can get all they want afterwards, no need to cap now.

Time zones. For Pacific zone it is 4pm today till 2am. That is prime time playing hours for most people in the zone, it is when they are off work or out of school for the day and want to relax with their game.

I'm just gonna go to bed early tonight and get up at the asscrack of dawn to play some FFXIV. :P

Long maintenance happens like this once every 3 months are they really being that inconvenienced?

You won't find sympathy here. Alternatives are:

1. No maintenance at all = no patch
2. separated maintenance for US time zone (which you will then whine about because everyone else got the patch about 12h before you.

Take your pick, BRU!
