I really, really hope healers don't get stuck with Moogle armour. From the few sets we can see the armours all look amazing for the primals but Moogle would be bad. (Shudders at the thought of having a headpiece Pom thingy that bounces and glows) Not that it really fits with healers but I would love to see the set being based off of Ravana with glowing red bits and dark grey/black colouring to it. Probably get Ramuh though and the headgear will be a giant floating beard and we will be stuck with awful full length robes and be jealous again of the DPS casters gear.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
Is there some obvious tell that this staff is a BLM staff and not a WHM staff? Or am I missing something? Because what I'm seeing isn't saying it's one or the other, though my personal tastes suggest that Shiva is for healers.
(Then Ramuh for Casters, cuz black and purple)
(Bismarck for Ranged?)
It's rather funny how some people complained about the ever marching trend of casters = dark gear, healers = white gear, so they change it up and it's just more complaints. There's no pleasing some people.
Haha.
I'd be all over some fluffy pink Mog gear for my AST, but I think since we already have the Moogle Suit it might be a bit redundant. I'd love it if they chose Mog though, over Ravana/Ramuh/Bismarck. Or if they do like the guy a few posts up suggested and give us all the robe version of a Ramuh beard.
Still hoping that one day they'll add a King Mog primal pony...
It's probably a lot more 'the devs didn't show us Healer gear and all the options that made sense for Healers were already taken, so we're probably gonna have a crappy set' than anything else.
I would have imagined the aiming set to be based off Garuda too... The devs actually didn't show us either of the aiming sets yet, which worries me a bit.
I imagine they gave casters Shiva because BLM uses ice, but by that logic the devs could have gone with Ramuh and still have it make sense. By that same logic though, healers are probably gonna end up with Titan since Garuda was already taken. Or Bismarck. Bismarck works too, because both wind and water and WHM uses both.
The whole lock on sets scares me more. I love Ifrit, not the biggest fan of Monk. I just don't get the thought process on this.
Looks like i'll be Ifrit huh. and omg the gordian gear looks AMAZING and I'm so shocked!
Are we getting prototype weapons too? O.O
I'm gonna grab my shiva blm gear and spam shiva ex while having frozen playing in the background. I'm happy lol. I am glad drg finally gets a decent looking garuda spear though because the original one is awful.
gear design is fair at best, I would love to design my own ^^, they need to look at a change of overall style for some sets, for variety. 4/10
the rest of the info in the English album looks cool though!! :)
I was talking about that with a friend of mine last night as well. It does seem like they're going for city states for the base classes here. I'm still somewhat surprised that Lancer got Garuda and not Archer, but I suppose Archer fits either Mog or Ramuh better than Lancer does.
The Shiva casting gear looks great on that female character but for a Duskwight Elezen male? I'm kinda scared. I mean, the cutoff between the chest piece and the arms, the crown, all of it doesn't seem like it would fit well with male characters. Or are they planning on introducing different designs of the set based on gender? Cause that would be really nice. The Garuda set makes me want to go DRG tho lol
I'm a black mage. BLACK mage. First the anima weapon, and now this. I just... no.
HOW PRETTY MUST I BE????

Actully it makes total sense if you know extended FF lore. Barbariccia in FFIV was very similar to Garuda, being a green themed Wind Element woman you had to fight. She had a soft spot for Kain the Dragoon claiming she only spared Kain's life because she had "feelings for him" as a "fellow creature of the sky." , referring to his Jump attack. The logic here is pretty similar Jump is Sky, Sky is wind, Garuda is Wind, Dragoons are Garuda.
Hmm, I didn't even think about Thordan being in the mix. I'm not we'll see them use the new HW primals for these sets, though, as the ARR primals cover the normal number of armor sets we get. I'd much prefer a Thordan or Bismarck-themed set to a King Mog one, though.
This is what i think for all the armors set :
Paladin --> Ultima (Gaius)
Guerrier --> Alexander
Dark Knight --> Thordan
White Mage --> Phoenix
Scholar --> Mog
Astromancian --> Bismarck
Dragoon --> Garuda
Monk --> Ifrit
Ninja --> Ramuh
Bard --> Leviathan
Machinist --> Ravana
Black Mage --> Shiva
Summoner --> Bahamut
Not a bad prediction. Though, it has been confirmed Leviathan is Ninja not Bard.
Here is mine if they are job specific:
Paladin --> Odin
Warrior--> Titan
Dark Knight --> Thordan
White Mage --> Moogle
Scholar --> Phoenix
Astrologian --> Bismarck
Dragoon --> Garuda
Monk --> Ifrit
Ninja --> Leviathan
Bard --> Ramuh
Machinist --> Ravana
Black Mage --> Shiva
Summoner --> Bahamut
Here is mine if they are role specific:
Tank --> Titan
Healer --> Moogle (sad face)
Dragoon --> Garuda
Ninja --> Leviathan
Monk --> Ifrit
Bard/Machinist --> Ramuh
Caster --> Shiva
They'll be role specific. Last tome set was Job specific because it was AF gear. This is just Primal themed/inspired gear, so it will be role specific, like all the previous tome sets (outside of Myth) were.
Mog makes the most sense for healers because he's the only Primal/Primal-like-construct-thing that heals during his fight, mainly his subordinates. This reflects healer's relationship with the rest of the party very well, King and subordinates. :-D
Tanks will get Titan as punishment for thinking they are the king. :-D
And Ranged will get Ramuh because they need beards. :-D
Edit
To expand:
MNKs got Ifrit because they are hotheads, DRGs got Garuda because they are on the floor all the time, so the only place they can go is up, NINs got Leviathan because they are all slimeballs who don't use Goad enough, and Casters got Shiva because SE thinks they're all ice-princess for not talking during parties but their actually just bots. :-D
Well, it's conjurer more specifically, going by that theory, I think.
The role-specific gear is normally themed for/after the base classes, rather than the actual Jobs. I'd imagine healer's set will most likely be one of the two Gridania primals because ACN goes on caster gear rather than SCH gear, and AST doesn't have a base class that it's associated with. The Titan set would then be Limsa via Marauder.
The only odd one out is ACN/THM in terms of the base class's city state matching the primal (but Ishgard also doesn't have any base classes, so Shiva was going to be an odd one out either way, I suppose).
I'm just sad because I was really hoping that healers would get the Shiva set as the base classes and jobs are from all over Eorzea and so could go with the less region specific one and the blue/white ice look would also for with SE's idea that almost all healer gear needs to be white. But it is all good. I am super hyped about having the Garuda set for my Dragoon. That spear is awesome.
Edit: Phoenix for healer would be very cool too if they used it.
SE logic is fun logic.
Have a smaller portion of the player base enter Bahamut: Make it look amazing and the gear wicked.
Have everyone enter Alexander: Make it look terrible and the gear look horrible.
So...I mean WHM is confirmed Shiva now right?...Or is that supposed to be a BLM and somewhere there is an ugly frilly coat and a huge hat coming our way? XD

The translation of the Japanese (linked in the second posts) specifies that the Shiva set is Casting, which Google Translate confirms.
Edit to add an additional thought:
Actually, the fact that it's the Hailstorm Attire of Casting all but confirms the sets are in fact role-based and not job-based, as Casting has always referred to both BLM and SMN gear so far. It's possible they could be changing that (honestly, I never really understood why the ranged DPS have shared sets and the melee DPS don't), but I wouldn't bet on it. We probably wouldn't see a change like that outside of an expansion launch.
wow, the end-game gear looks really appealing this patch.
I love the Shiva gear...finally we get something really nice for caster! :D
Can't wait to see the healer set.. am hoping for Phoenix as well lol
