Ofcourse its harder, since they abolished physical levels you can't go into battle any more at rank 1 with level 20+ stats.

In my opinion, the way things are now with exp chain parties, there is little point for a party to undertake guildleves. The experience points gained from party and link bonuses pales in comparison to exp chain party exp rates. If you can find 8 people for a party, it would be puzzling to me why you would want to do guildleves and not exp chain party.
I feel that guildleves should just be completely revamped for solo play only. Make it impossible to do in a party, like company leves are now. This will allow you to rebalance the guildleve mobs strength towards solo play without also having to worry about party balancing issues. Make the mobs easy enough to kill so that you can complete the leve fairly quickly. I should be able to do several leves in an hour or so.
By limiting guildleves to solo players, you create an isolated alternative to exp chain parties that allows the player to quickly find something to fight at any level. Because guildleves are instanced you can alter the strength of those mobs without effecting the fundamental systems that have been put in place elsewhere.
If you do this, players can decide when they log on each day "Ok how much time do I have to play?" If they have a lot of time they can seek out an exp chain party. If they don't have much time, they can head to adventurer's guild, pick up a few leves, and get them done quickly for some easy solo exp. If we're talking about leaving the exp rewards for guildleves alone (which I think is the right choice), the exp won't be as good as a party, but as long as the leves are fast and easy to complete, you should still walk away feeling pretty satisfied with your progress.
Maybe its me but I have no problem soloing or doing guild leves. I do wish however, that the guardian aspect gave us 40 every 12 hours as to keep up with leve allowance rate. Also there are tons of mobs all over the place at various lvls for solo and party play. Some need to look beyond raptors and even beast strongholds as that seems to be for 40,45+. I keep running into beastmen in random places there are groups that are in the mid 20s and higher 20s near horizon and mid 30s near Nophica wells. There are 35-39 near cedar wood (kobolds in caves and alcoves) and then the old encampments are 46-49. Also have new dungeon in La Noscea area for 15-20 easy. I know its hard but there can be some adventuring and fun to be had exploring those areas and getting xp. I am usually there an never seeing a soul except for the ppl that sit near cedar wood aetheryte and spam the faction leve with all the skulking wolves and ewes. Mobs are ripe for the killing.
Guildleves are used for getting rarer items which negates the need to farm a mat for a piece of popular gear. Also, guildleves are popular to earn guild marks which advance your class. Therefore, please don't try to eliminate a perfectly fine system just to get rid of it. It has it's uses and solo players still enjoy doing them.
If you don't like doing them that's fine. Please however, refrain from talking for the rest of us that enjoy doing them.
As long as this is tuned to solo playing, then that's fine with me. You should probably leave party leveling the way it is now since people still make a killing on EXP, and nerfing that would only cause an uproar. Either that or just implement a new development system altogether - perhaps force the player to do quests to learn how to effectively use their class both solo and in a party and earn more techniques - rather than the traditional chore of a leveling system.
Lol have to tried to level level 10 to 20 now? You think its okay but its not. even the dev said so. Unlike you sir most people doesn't like to stay around level 10 to 20 for a long time. Please explain to me how is it easy right now? Before you get a lot of exp from solo, and leves were a lot easier to finish due to the Mobs being a little easy to kill. Now Mobs are hard if you try to do lvl 10 Leves. Do you understand? please tell me that you do. seriously killing Mobs and getting only 150 exp is very disappointing, Even ffxi wasn't designed that way.
Ps: the reason why you get 0 to 50 sp before was you were killing mobs that was the same level as you. Before you could kill mobs 8 levels above you. now you can't. You can only kill around 1 or 2 levels above you getting 100 to 150 exp. Imagine how long it would take for a 9,000 till next level?
Its very hard to find a party with no search tools especially around my level 36. So I am stuck with leves that give 80exp a kill and 2k when you finish.
Please fix guild leve exp. As it is right now it is such a grind to get anywhere in this game.
Hi Rukkirii,
Zetsumei's response (above) sums it up best. Great reply! :)
I, also, would say "NO" to lowering the EXP Requirement per Level for Low Level Classes. That's not the problem at all (it's very generous and easy from a numerical point-of-view). It's that the mobs are hard to take down with Low Level Classes with average-to-poor gear (makes sense, they're just getting started).
And also improving the Low Level Guildleves (make them slightly easier for solo players or parties).
We don't need a repeat of FF XI (current) with people jumping from Level 1 - 75 in the matter of one or two days.
Leveling shouldn't be too easy, anyone who actually puts the effort in isn't low lvl for very long. lvling is so fast now that it shouldnt matter, do a couple sets of leves then youre the right lvl to start partying. Maybe put in a little effort, this isnt WoW.
As a new player to FFXIV I have to say the problem I see is where in FFXI you would start partying with people at around level 15 in FFXIV I have no idea best time to start and no way of searching or finding parties that are specifically helpful to me. In the sense of I don't know what level need to start grouping, where to find groups, what sort of quests and such need groups and what roles each class has in a group.
It just doesn't seem as new player friendly and maybe thats just the player base being far more picky about who group with and what group with or for what to group up to do in first place. I just find it more confusing than in FFXI for all those aspects just mentioned. In the game world I notice quite often noone talks to each other much outside of their own linkshells so and hardly anyone seems willing to group up to do things or doesn't know if or when need to do so. Seems to be a quiet world where everyone doing their own things and noone asking for any assistance or help with anything outside of linkshells if part of one.
Well, I suppose the "leveling shouldn't be too easy" and "n00b just get an xp party" "arguments" are to be expected from long time FFXI players (I know, I am one myself), but remember we're trying to make this MMO successful in the general market, not just for people who emigrated from FFXI.
Leveling is not an accomplishment. It's the expected result. You could theoretically get to level 50 by using the South Park method of beating on level 1 critters 24 hours a day. The game shouldn't act as if it is an accomplishment. It's a means to an end. There should be content along the way to keep it interesting, but what keeps players on a game for years is not leveling grind, but content, especially endgame content.
Not to mention, the stated goal by both the former team and the new management has been to allow people to play how they want to play. Yes, XP parties are fast, but they are also terribly boring for a lot of people. Feel free to go to any other game's forums and look to see if they're asking for more mindless grind. FFXIV parties aren't as bad as FFXI parties in requiring you to stay for unreasonable amounts of time to not get blacklisted by the party members, but they still last too long.
People should be able to level in a reasonable amount of time playing solo if they so choose, especially considering that there is not a single level curve to 50 like most MMOs, but many as you level diffferent classes. The curve should, if anything, be shorter than it is in other MMOs to reflect this, since endgame groups often expect you to have multiple classes to a high level to be able to function at the level they expect.
Yes, there's a problem with fights being overly difficult for people starting out who are just learning the system and need better gear, but it's not the main problem. I know how my classes operate and I have good gear for them, but it still takes multiple times longer for me to level a lower level class that's considered a "prereq" for me to even play my preferred class than it would take to just level a fully functioning class in any other MMO. This isn't a good model, and the game mustn't force people to play in XP parties just to avoid the overly slow solo curve.
1-10 is easy 10-20 can be a pain. I usually start off at level 1 with corroded cobs untill I hit like 5. From 5-10 I move up to the higher level cobs just north of Black Brush and take them down in small groups at first and build untill I get about 9 of them I can 2-3 shot with AOEs makes leveling super fast I got gald/pug/mrd/con/thaum from 1-10 in just a few hrs of playing. Sadly I have not yet found an easy farm mob from 10-15. From 15-20 the dodo's north of drybone can be killed the same way easily. Just a small suggestion 1-10 is faster w/o leves but 10-15 may be better with 1 star leves from drybone or 5 start from black brush.
Maybe limit chains to solo or maybe even duos and make the mobs a little squishier. Parties (especially 35 or higher) don't need the chain bonus - they can fight mobs that are significantly higher for better exp than a soloer can.
This would also open the way for chain bonus for weaker mobs too :X
Wow could this game be any easier? With Ifrit and Batraal being the only somewhat challenging content in this game do we really need to carry every low level character to 50 as well? I got my first 50 doing dunesfolk for an amazing 100k every 36 hours. We thought that was broken! I don't see how hard it can be to get any dom/dow to 50. Arent leve groups still a good way to gain your levels and what happened to behest? I would spam behest for hours to get one rank and we thought that was BROKEN!!! Whatever, SE you are doing fine. Don't give in and start making this too easy, instead you can just change that retarded loot system on Ifrit. Peace.
Roll a new character (they are free). Roll as a Gladiator. Level to 15 with no help from anyone, no gear from your main, just like a new player. No PL.
If you do it just as a brand new player that doesn't know anyone in the fairly quiet world, go grind mobs solo or even do leves. No mount, no cash, lvl 1 gear with many empty slots. Then come back and tell me it is too easy.
Stop catering to soloers. This is an MMORPG for crying out loud.
I came back after 1:18 and it took a solid 2 week for me to get CON from 20-50 and THM another 3 weeks 10-50 running leves in parties. After 1:19 I was able to take GLA & MRD from level 1-50 in 1 day each no PL just running parties with the new Link and Chain bonuses. I also took my LNC level 47 to a Wolf party for the Mask of immortal Hex coffer and took him to 50 in under 20 mins it was just to fast.
This is something I would like see changed so that people have time to learn jobs and build techniques cause I only learn MRD after I hit 50 (though I play it alot now). I didn't even by new gear just threw on Kokoroon armor and bought a new/cheap weapon when we stopped to get more people.
Soloed 1-10 and partied the rest this was not a static group as we changed a lot of people and I happen to have the whole day off so I did play for a while. I had to do leves at 50 just for the marks I wished they didn't make leves so hard I would like to solo on them like I used to. I tried on my PUG and it was slow and hard so I stopped and formed a party.
the problem ist not the difficulty.
its just so damn boring. i AM a new player and its not that i struggle so much with my lancer. i soloed now to 19 and its just plain boring.
PLed just for a lvl cause was boring watching a guy doing something i should do. Quests are a joke, leves are small in number and well whats left is a korean grind game :)
edit: this "Party" stuff. im new so i dont know a shit about this game. and i didnt found an instance, nor i do understand what peeps yell in the citys. how the hell can i find a grp? and when i ask peeps just say "well normaly your supposed to PL!".
