SCH 4.0

Last thing SCH needs is a third pet. It would either be a waste of resources (by being inferior to Selene; being better than Eos would be irrelevant as it's Selene that's #1), or ends up furthering SCH's stranglehold in parties at the expense of current and future healer jobs. Same thing applies to Enkindle, since the direction of SCH going forward should be to differentiate it from SMN, not copy from its skillset.

That just means we have two more slots for fairies, noon and midnight. Personally, I'd like for one of them to be an offensive debuff fairy.

But back to the topic at hand, I feel like what's missing from the bigger picture is more use for other stats besides crit. Even now, they are skimping on our main secondary stat because they think it's too good for us.

With that kind of concept, we'd have room for:
Afternoon fairy, High noon fairy, noon fairy, night fairy, mid-night fairy
But why stick to parts of the day and take entire days?
Hanukka fairy, Christmas fairy, easter fairy, new year fairy, chinese new year fairy, oktober fest fairy

Just to humour the conversation (possibly away from a third fairy) ask and answer these questions:

What role of a healer does SCH play in relation to other healers?

What weakness does SCH have (if any) compared to other healers?

Is this weakness acceptable?

Do you feel SCH needs to improve healing, support, or DPS contribution? (Choose the one that would need updated over the course of level 60-70)

Is the play style too simple or could it stand to gain more complexity for more pay off (think Enochian)?

Fairies that sit on your should and peek at your book while /bm standing still.

First skill I want to see that came to my mind would be a 3 min CD-Skill that would summon the opposite fairy you currently have for 10 seconds in addition to the one you have. She would sic-cast all her skills once (starting with silence/Magic resistance) and vanish.

Or even better, you gain a stack of fairy dust every 2 min. You can use a skill of a fairy currently not summoned. Only useable under the effect of fairy dust. Dissipation grants you a stack of fairy dust. (Wont happen due to the high requirements in hotbarspace and mikromanagement but I would like it.)

Lol. What about something later on to help with fairy swaps or to remove Dissipation?

This way, Dissipation loses its stigma for being a punishment skill and does not necessarily have to cost us a swiftcast to bring back our fairy and even without Dissipation, switching pets would not cost us swiftcast. Maybe a second additional effect could be made to restore MP (went ahead and added that in at a free summon cost) but Dissipation can be pretty sexy sometimes when you just need that burst heal RIGHT NOW. The idea of the skill is to change the aspect of your fairy by using your aetherflow, or summoning one using the aether you borrowed from them with Dissipation. It also encourages SCH to ration their additional aetherflow gained from Dissipation in order to quickly resummon after the burst heal/heavy aoe heal has finished.

I wouldn't mind some support abilities, but to be honest I'd rather BRD and MCH get a lot more supporting abilities and transition to an actual supporting role so they have a slightly better identity.

For SCH though, I would actually like to see more DPS abilities. I like that we got a lot for our healing kit in this expansion, but to keep it real SCH is about as 'hybrid' a job as they can get in this game. I think people who chose to main SCH like the fact that we are practically taking on two roles, and I would rather they keep that feeling alive for us than play it safe and make it all about the healing. Obviously they can't make us too OP, but making the DPS side of things a little more interesting would be nice. That being said I would be extremely opposed to anything Enochian style ;p

I also want there tool kit to be re-evaluated so it is not the must have second healer due to the dps it can bring to the table aswell as looking into there cooldowns

So far SCH is the only healer which is mandatory for raids which is unfair and for future even if we get a 4th healer i want SCH to be severly looked at .... The only time SCH is not used if there is a SOLO healer which will be a WHM

So SE please take a good look at SCH before u make another healing in future SCH is too good and is unreplacible in raid progression

Kind of hard to say that when the Scholar/white mage was most popular because the astro was not buffed yet. Astro/scholar is as viable now as white mage/scholar is. Instead of making the scholar irreplaceable why not set conditions in raid mechanics that make use of the strengths of the astro/white mage. Only thing about scholar that might need a look at is the dps neutral abilities they provide. Pet was already nerfed in 3.0 when its healing contribution compared to the scholar went down the crapper almost 15% compared from 50-60.

Thinking it over I want an 80 potency aoe that's spammable. Think ruin with a trait like catastrophic ruin. Increased mp cost but unlimited targets around the original target.

Nerfing Cleric Stance on SCH would only lead to all healers being nerfed. If they can make the fairy dynamic I'm sure they'd do the same for regens applied before cleric stance.

Completely disagree. It's not so much Scholar being OP as it is Alex Savage being designed for them. When everything is about DPS checks, the healer that shines with DPS will obviously shine in said raid. Exactly the same way that Alex is unfair on Paladins due to the high amount of magic damage being thrown everywhere. Also, as Vlady said, when the raid was released ASTs were underpowered, and so everyone stuck to what they knew.

When an AST can solo heal A3S, there's no problem with any of the healers.

I just want an ability that makes my next heal/attack a guaranteed Crit, It would make pre pull so much easier and being able to crit Adlo a Tank buster at will would be amazing. It might make us a bit OP, but apart from salty Astros everyone loves a good crit Adlo.

No matter what fight u put into the game... Whm/Sch will always be taken first over AST for progression raiding....once they cleared it and know the fight and got gear... Then u will aee ast added to the raid...

And yes an AST solo healed AS3 this does not mean that the jobs is fine .... I remember back in 2.X where a SCH solo healed titan EX but the class needed still needed attention

Im sorry but all 3 healers needs to be looked at .. The most being SCH they have it far too good and needs to be tone down... I will get flamed for this because players dont want there precious sch to get nerfed.. Its either nerf SCH or MEGA buff N-Sect AST.... Ur calll

Or as myself and others have suggested, stop making ast be a clone of whm and sch. Whm can't shield as effectively like a scholar can, nor can a scholar whip out continuous regens and constant 650 potency heals.
AST has a powerful healing stance. Nocturnal should not be focused on healing. It should be decent healing but not as powerful as diurnal. nocturnal should help with the group's dps and quality of life. Everyone understands that time dilation and celestial opposition need a bonus effect in nocturnal. That's what devs need to look at.

So no I don't agree that ast need the healing aspect of their nocturnal stance increased.

No, you missed the point. My point was that Alexander Savage was designed with DPS checks as the barriers to progress. And so the healer that can output the most DPS will obviously be most sought after. WHM has the highest burst DPS, AST has the lowest but can buff others, and SCH has the best sustained DPS. As such the meta at the moment favours SCH more due to that. I wasn't saying that they made fights with only certain healers in mind, that would be rather silly.

For the record though, what skills exactly are ASTs lacking? Last time I checked they can fill the role of WHMs almost perfectly, and even SCHs. (Keep crying about Noct but it's still viable in the end game meta.)

Also, ASTs wanting absolutely everything on their job is getting a little tiring now. No one is 'better', people just need to learn to play with the job. A job being harder to play due to a lack of emergency CDs or whatever is NOT underpowered, it just requires you to be on the ball a bit more often. Not even MCHs, who have to bust their asses keeping on top of everything to get similar or sub-par DPS to BRDs, complain as much as ASTs. If anything, it ought to be WHMs complaining because ASTs are healing just as well while having buffing capabilities also.

Also.. WHM is still king of healing due to cooldowns and well if everyone is close together Cure 3 owns all aoe healing

And SCH is king of reduce damage taken and provide decent dps to the group

So why take an AST? Yeah players are taking AST into savage now because everyone nearly got 210 gear.... But when progression is needed.... WHM and SCH will be picked again due to they are more reliable in everyway... Ast got good healing but is not reliable and this is the problem

Astrologian actually is the king of healing now. Synastry is the strongest healing cooldown hands down. Most mechanics in Alexander seem to line up nicely with synastry.

Players are taking AST into savage now because no one was happy with ASTs upon release. It was only after they got buffed that they were more viable, and by then a lot of groups had already formed. And Cure 3 is pretty irrelevant in Alex, it's hardly needed. Buffs like Synastry, which was just mentioned, are far better.

Anyway, the last point I made earlier was that all the blabbering about a job that is doing fine is annoying now. This was a thread for what SCHOLARS would like for their job in 4.0, and yet you even worm your way into here and cry about ASTs. There are loads of threads for you to cry in, please do it there and leave a small section of the healer forums in peace. Not every thread needs to become about how we can please the Astrologians.

I would kinda love to see a spiritbond skill between sch and their fearies (playing Beyond 2 souls again lately xD)... while its active (lets say 15s), the feary would take all the dmg the sch recieves while the skill is up. it would be really useful if the grp crumble and is near a wipe, giving you time to overview the chaos and react a bit more stressless - maybe it looks a bit op in the first place but well... we talk about wishes, right? ;p

On topic: more 'Tactics' abilities. I like that they went with spell mods as core Scholar skills and I'd like to see more of this, it's a very interesting direction and make a lot of sense. I can also see them gating some of the new skills behind Dissipation in the future because I'm a masochist.

It would be nice if Lustrate wasn't affected my Cleric Stance again....

Dissipation is life. I honestly feel like a crack addict looking for more stacks of aethercrack to energy drain/lustrate when level sync'ed below 60.
