I love how silly people are lol. Houses JUST returned to the market today. Give it time and chill if you want a house that bad for cheaper. Prices will regulate when there's no market. That's how economy works.
You cannot fault SE for players being greedy...
This was only day one...tomorrow, any player who owns a home who hasn't logged into it in the past 45 days=another home up for grabs, the next day= same thing. Basically, unlike before where you HAD to camp the maint/log in right away to get plots, now, they will randomly continue to spring up. So if you missed one today, keep looking, over time, more will keep opening up.
Also, while it might work for people for a while to keep trying to buy out the server and re-sell them...sooner or later (esp. on smaller servers), they won't be able to benefit from this because there will always be additional plots unlocking...so, they will need to keep up buying everything, every day it pops open...or give up.
I know this is little comfort to those who hoped for a plot today/have to deal with people being scrooges on their server, but this was only day 1. Keep looking, plots will keep opening. Also, take note of when the free login began/ends...that likely will tie into another large window of turnover. Lastly, have friends help you keep an eye out if you haven't already done so. But I suspect, you'll see a couple homes open up in waves this week-next (b/c people logged in at patch to 'save' their home, but haven't since logged in/let their sub run out since then)...and then like I said, another round of waves that line up w/ the free login.
You seem to be grossly misunderstanding the issue. On many servers there are no houses available (and up until today there were no houses available on any server). You can't wait for deflation on empty plots when there are no empty plots. And as for people that are selling their plots, you can't possibly expect that their prices will ever go down. Supply and demand. There is incredibly little supply, and a huge demand. Prices on player sold houses are never going to go down until tons of new wards/plots are introduced.
There is no way to argue against a fault in the system being obvious when there is a clear shortage of housing and the ability to buy more than one per account remains. SE completely FUBARed housing imho and created the situation well before demolition even became a thing.
Also, aside from that, Christmas is a holiday wherein a lot of players were away from the game with family. That is NOT the day to make housing available since quite a few people who wanted housing were not able to be on. I can't even begin to figure the thinking on SE's part on that one.
first off jenova server has been bugged and cant get housing despite waiting for over 30 hours after the demo of houses. second i pay to play this game so dont tell me to take it easy. i get there isnt enough housing and i get that people just sell them but at least they opened when they said they would. on jenova server right now people are at each others throats fighting for land plots for over 30 hours. yes its just a game but we expect when they say things will be available they will be and no response for over 30 hours of a major bug is unnacceptable when they make over 60 million a month. lastly if i pay to play this game i have my right to my own opinion and this is just wrong.
I don't condone the behavior of buying and selling for profit, but it is not exactly as risky as it seems...worst case you lose 20% of what you paid + housing permit...but you can make all or part of that back using the garden and selling what you grow while waiting for the auto demo to get your 80% back if you can't sell it. It is actually LESS risky than it was prior to 3.1.
It will be interesting to see A) where they put the housing (I'm praying for snowy land) and B) how much the plots run - I could totally see them putting a premium on the "hot" new area and raising plot prices. Also, don't forget by then the house transfer system will be in place ...so anyone with an existing house can just as easily buy an Ishgard plot and transfer over their house with all items intact (the way it is supposed to work, anyways) meaning even existing home owners will be competing for the Ishgard plots (aka the entire server.)
I am almost positive that the dev team is fully aware of the housing situation right now. But just in case they aren't I would like to reinforce this thread and many others in the sense that something absolutely needs to be done about this. It was poorly implemented to begin with, especially when "personal housing" came out and was essentially the same thing as FC housing but you didn't need to be the leader of an FC to buy one.
This whole housing reclamation system was also a huge failure timing wise and implementation. People being able to buy multiple houses on ult characters or whatever was just an awful idea. I also agree houses shouldn't have been allowed to be sold by players especially when there is not enough houses to go around. It has created a horrible community image with people selling small plots worth 5 million or less for 50 million instead just because there is none left and they can get away with it.
I am pretty disappointed in SE about this. Of course I love this game and I will still play and support it as long as I can. But it is our right as users of FFXIV to post on these forums in hopes to create change where change is needed.
I wish some of this drama was occurring on my server, it would have been fun to watch while I was meticulously fertilizing my blood pepper plants.
Any update on jenova?
Sorry the comparison but the houses should be like GTA or skyrim. You will receive houses on main quests/dungeons/raids with the game progress. The fair way it's to everyone get a house. Everyone pay for the game, so everyone deserve it.
I am so sad I forgot the day that houses were put back up on the market. It's hilarious to see some of those who were saying "We need housing reclamation, it's not fair for unused plots to be wasted!" to now be selling plots for a profit. I wish I was here for all of the excitement as many people without houses still don't have them, some people who got them are now trying to sell them, and on top of those two aspects that already existed being made all the more raw and aggravating, now some people lost their homes.
Seems like an all around horrible thing to have done. To anyone who actually got a house -and- uses it, congratulations. To everyone else who supported this idea and still got shafted, don't worry, SE still has your money and still doesn't care.
Bought one at 5:11 am. Found it after I was checking for undercutters on the mb. Still mad about how this was handled. I really want them to make buying and selling houses clear with correlation to the ToS, before 3.3 and new wards are added.
If you want to know exactly how funny the situation is... you can find ppl selling accounts with houses for over 1000$ online. Dont worry though, there are ishgard houses coming and im sure that will give the rest of the hundreds of players on each server who might want a house a slim chance at getting one.
I was lucky enough to get a small plot in Mist by checking all three city states everyday for around two weeks. probably try that..even if you cant get the house at least you can wait for 3.3 for ishgard housing
Kinda funny how a few months ago a lot people were mad that airships were locked behind FCs and wanted more housing and the only thing SE did was sweep the issue underneath the rug and a few players (myself included) all stated how the upcoming purge wasn't going to solve anything and yet here we are again housing crisis 3.0 and SE not apparently doing anything for the issue.
I check the housing wards everytime I log in, before I enter a dungeon, and after I get out. Still haven't seen ANYTHING free except one large plot... part of the trouble with being on such a high population server I suppose :(
You mean except for the part where they specifically stated that in the next few patches they'll be adding new wards and creating apartment style housing? Don't know the details as to what the apartments will amount to yet, but new wards in the three cities are supposed to be coming soon.
except those, who just want a private room without a FC, have a higher chance
Say there will be 1 mansion in each ward of each housing zone:
8 ward *2 (the extended ward) = 16 mansion in a housing zone = 64 mansion for the whole sever = ~ 32.000 rooms for those who don't need a garden
I think the underlying message SE is trying to send is not to even bother with housing, unless you play on a low pop server. High pop legacy? New player? You can forget it. Inserting new spaces in Ishgard housing will just be a repeat of the same thing, until the core issues are addressed.
I'm all for them adding the apartment style housing to the game, but I still think it's not addressing the issue that exists with housing. I'm taking it as a sign that they realized housing as it is can not be sustained on their budget to meet the demands of the player base, and that we shouldn't ever expect enough homes for people who want them. At least by adding the apartments though, they're giving players a place to call their own, even if it isn't a full home.
