They should at least have a representative tell us if we're wasting our time. It is so frustrating.

Yep.... This is sucking.
Lots of my friends are super pissed off at SE for this. Pretty fucked up holiday present from SE.
This is bloody stupid man, all this bollocks all because they cant be arsed to add more wards which in the long run would have been a better solution rather then putting an idiotic system in place with an unpredictable time limit which could have also been improved by giving an active timer on each house.
These whole holiday housing shenanigans can't stop me thinking of something...

"Oh you want a house at a set time you can work around on Christmas? Oh gee, that's too baaaaad!"
"How...How much would it bum you out that you have to waste 48 hours around Christmas, disregarding any familial commitments you may have?" *rubs nipples furiously*
Nah, I know what they are doing. They are hoping these people get time cards in their presents. Why would would maintance time get brought up? They clearly care less for us since we already paid our sub.
I think you're all forgetting that this time is based on Japan Standard Time. Its almost the 26th in Japan, Christmas is done.
you also seem to forget that this is a permanent feature. They cant post times every time a house is about to get demolished
Not forgetting it nor expecting such a tailored thing, just wondering why they can't clarify the formula (i.e when exactly does the patch being released refer to) or whether maintenance is 1) Original scheduled maintenance, 2) Actual downtime due to early/late completion times 3) Entire day off per-maintenance (unlikely but still). More than happy to work out the time by looking at maintenance notices.
Yep.... I agree, what bunny said
Frankly it is stupid cause when this came on stated clearly on the lodestone post starting the 10th day of 3.1 it will be 45day till a house was reclaim base on if the person or persons owning it were inactive then all of a sudden it made so SE throws in maintenance times to up their timers frankly they should of stuck to the post on lodestone it said no such thing so they had to such right to throw this in right after getting everyone hopes up
It's not like they're removing housing reclaim. You just won't be able to snag all the houses by doing a tiny bit of math (You have to do a lot more math, instead.) Though, being more clear in the patch notes would have been wise, yes, the 45th day is still several hours long. They've not technically broken their word until it's the 26th. SE seems to scrape in just on time to their deadlines, on occasion.
No but like me a lot of ppl got up early in hopes to snag a house that open up just to sit there wondering wtf going on to have to search through a dozen or so of crap to finally get lead here where then all of a sudden find out maintenance up the time so instead the 25th won't be till early morning the 26th so got hopeful get the time right since they don't or won't tell you and if you off by a hour or more you kiss your chance goodbye
Yep.... I've been sitting in front of the only house that I want for approximately three and a half hours now, waiting and waiting. . . Nothing yet. I'm fairly certain that this is going to end up being demolished during a time that I will be afk (since it is Christmas) and I will then have to wait until 3.3 (which probably won't even be until sometime in April or May if I were to guess) just to get a house. And then it's sad because I may not even like any of them. . .
I just can't understand how Square-Enix, who has made so many amazing games, and has resurrected this game and become so rich off of it can't just give the players what they want with housing. Is it really that hard? I guess it must be. . . Because if it's not hard, then they just really, really, really suck.
They've said several times that maintenance times won't count towards the 45 days a player's been inactive. I personally knew this days ago (but I checked this morning anyway because my family did xmas yesterday so I've got nothing to do today!) Think of it as... when the player's been inactive for 1080 hours of the servers' uptime, because the timers stop while the servers are down, that's when the house gets demolished.
o-e been sitting here for 5 hours now. Luckily I didn't miss Christmas day waiting, since I'm +13gmt. I am gonna give up in an hour, developed a stabbing pain in my eye >.>
I and a bunch of my FC have stayed up literally all night (we logged back in right after the maintenance) hoping to catch a large plot. We'll do our best to make it through but people have family things they have to go do today so it's going to be really tough for them. We've spent six months saving up money for this, so a lot of people are going to be really unhappy and angry if we end up missing our chance because of bad timing. :(
Like other folks, I've stayed up all night to try and stake a spot and get one of the possible plots opening up. I'm in a FC who is also camping out for a house. Both myself and our FC have been saving up gil and waiting for the plots to open for a year. Give us something solid for this initial wave of people, SE, because it's past 6AM PST and I don't see anything getting demolished. After having waited for over a year to get housing, between this or waiting until 3.3...neither are going to be very appealing : /
In 34 minutes, it won't be the 25th in japan anymore, if the houses aren't for sale by then, then their 45 day thingy was a lie....
(Unless everybody who has ever owned a house has come back online to renew their day thingy, and then stopped playing again).
If they have increased the prices substantially since they were first released, Ima freak. It would suck to wait for so long, then be off by 1mil.
Im waiting its 6:32 am. Been up at 12 when the servers came up, 2, 5:30 till now. This is PST. I hope they drop soon.
Also someone said that SE said that the maintenance didn't count towards the reclaim time meaning that it didn't add any more time to the timer. When did SE say this because I thought maintenance did in fact extend the 45 day timer.
Much as I want to agree with you hun, SE did state it was 45 days PLUS any downtime for maintenance. Granted they've been as cryptic as possible in an effort to seemingly ruin people's Christmases. If they go over into day 46 like I expect them to, they technically won't be liars. :/
I've been waiting for 6 hours now and I have almost fallen asleep three times and look forward to up to another 30 hours of this. I've changed plans and I'm having my Christmas dinner near the computer so I can keep an eye on this. Do you see how adversely your refusal to give an accurate start time/maint time is affecting people's lives, SE? :(
Giving it til daily reset time.
If they do delay it for maintenance, I'll be screwed and wasted a good night's sleep for nothing. I have to get up and work at 6AM tomorrow, and the odds of a plot remaining by the time I get home are so small as to be irrelevant. I don't understand why SE would do something so stupid as to cater to people who have already unsubbed, on top of giving them a whole month to log in and reclaim their houses for free. It completely defeats the point of reclamation as a method of getting people to resub, and can potentially lose subs as a result.
guys, you forget about free log in event, and as i heared 45 days not count server maintenance time, dunno if its right, but just if you count this time, houses CANT be oppened today, thats like 12h+ later or maybe more...
Giving it till daily reset myself. Still feels dumb as hell to include maint. times for the timer when they don't do it for people paying for their subs. But alas.
" Take a step back and reevaluate your priorities, his is just sad. "
---Nevermind, i'll be nice. Just go away dude. Just go away, before you get flamed beyond belief.
So how long including maintenance? It has to be easy to figure out.
I think that there were in depth total calculations made a few pages back. I'm not sure who's was the most definitive though. I haven't personally done maintenance calculations in addition to the original 45 day / hour calculations, so I'm not 100% sure.
Agree wholeheartedly with you hun, but the times given definitely don't include maint and they need to be accounted for. I'm only on now just to be on the safe side in case they screwed up somewhere.
Given all the venting I've seen about the free log in event on Reddit and not to mention a friend of mine used hers to keep her house under her name, I can assure you I and many other players haven't forgotten. I'm extremely confident of that the fact that there will at least be some people who have completely lost interest in the game and have no intention of coming back, so didn't use the free log in to extend their tenancy.
Agreed, Lilithium. If they care they have plenty of opportunities to come claim their house. I don't think allowing an extra 20-30 hours on top for maint isn't going to affect their ability to get back on in time to reclaim their tenancy, whereas it's created a massive headache for hundreds of players left in the cold by SE's poorly implemented housing system.
James, what she's trying to say is that the announced amount of time that servers are going to be down for maintenance isn't always accurate because often times maintenance finishes earlier than the original announced time of expected completion.... Meaning it could throw it off tremendously and not be rounded off to an actual hour or 30 minute mark.
Honestly I think they should add an icon or something to at least show which houses are at risk/being demolished
that be to easy just like giving us a time when to expect them to be reclaim
