I can see something like this being a benefit. Take bard for example.. the difference between 3.0 bard and 2.0 bard that you are forced to revert to is very jarring. Get used to playing one way... oops now forget about it!

I'm all for it, I think people upset about how easy It would be aren't open minded enough. If try reduce everything even lower. You could have the option to play a lot harder but still do what you're use to at high level but that other guy in Satasha NM can keep up with you with a basic combo spam.
It'd be nice. As for level sync gear still being "powerful" yes that's because it syncs us to the highest ilvl for that dungeon. Maybe sync us to lowest ilvl but then people would whine about that
there is no issues without leeches...you can use instead Adlo, it nullifies the poisonous effect , even against teh last boss in Bray NM you use that one you dont need leech at all and does an excellent job up 4 stacks depending on which tank is affected mostly.
At later stage of course is another story
BTW I am totally against this idea, people want fast runs with all the advantage and just gain tokens to go faster. You want a lower roulette you go with it and with the disadvantage to go back to be a beginner.
Although off topic to this thread. Im so happy other BRDs agree. When they added WM in and we did less damage it was bad enough. Now I hate WM not because of the dmg or anything (I quite understand that BRD does less dmg because of support etc) but it mad sense in 2.x we were the only class that could move around and do dmg. Now we have annoying cast times that made the most mobile class into a wanna be caster. Really hope in 4.0 or sooner that we "learn" or something a better way and gets rid of cast times for good, anyway rant over haha.
I think they were perfectly balanced in 2.x they had ranged and no cast times at the cost of doing less damage. Then they could also help out the party with the penalty of further reducing damage. Plus BRD then was great fun, cant stand playing it now. As well of the top off my head they had specific purpose in raids such as T7 (kite the trolls). Although now raids are just boring DPS checks with no fun so eh.
WM is not meant to be on 24/7. It's only meant to be on for like situations that doesn't require you to move. You're not forced to have it on all the time. Fights like the boss in Sohm Ai, I don't use it cuz it requires constant moving til the wing phase.
I understand that it isn't need 24/7, I just preferred BRD without cast times. Kinda just feels like instead of putting the time into figuring out how to do BRD abilities from 50-60 they were just lazy and added cast times. But I don't play it any more so doesn't affect me :) not unless they get rid of it.
To some extent, they kinda did. If you noticed, they made a lot of Jobs too similar. I know they want to make sure all the Jobs are viable but there's almost no difference between many of the current Jobs.
Definetly, I havent played MCH but from what I hear its just copy paste BRD, with the obvious turrets instead of songs etc.
No...and for twelve's sake please stop putting these threads up.
We are already OP for much of the older content as is. Been seeing myself as number 2 or 3 on the HP list as a bleeding BLM in some runs. Don't get me wrong. BLM tanking adds in the tower runs and such can be fun sometimes...but it is kinda disheartening to watch the tanks struggle so much to regain control. And don't even get me started about how much havoc a BRD can do in some things (though ST is a freaking blast, I must admit).
The last thing we need is a tweak that makes the tank and healing jobs harder...further discouraging people from playing them.
God, you think a DDs over-geared performance in Crystal Tower can be bad? I have to hold back substantially in anything under level 50. Last time I ran Haukke all I used was Heavy Shot once every couple seconds and could still pull hate. I ran Tam-Tara once and the Black Mage that I was there with was pulling hate every pull, forcing the tank to have to run back to where we were cause they were 'too busy' dropping the 'mad spells'. We don't need all our abilities when synced. In fact, I think we could do with tighter sync ranges to try and curb the power we STILL bring in our over-leveled, over-geared selves.
I accidentally destroyed the game for a friend who briefly started playing once. Our FC accompanied him through the first few dungeons and trials but we were so grotesquely strong even on 'off' jobs (let's just say I'm not a very good Lancer... tank) that there was no risk or element of strategy whatsoever even though we specifically avoided spoiling surprises. It was a far cry from the days where the people who joined at the same time went through each dungeon with tearful wipes and immensely satisfying triumphs when we figured the simple mechanics out for the first time and gradually built up our strength. My poor friend ended up thinking the game was boring and stopped logging on.
And once again I have to ask; if you had the option to use WM or ignore it in Toto-Rak and both options would do exactly the same amount of damage, how many people would actually switch it on? The number of people who would genuinely stick to the level 60 play styles for training when they could just charge through immortally using a simpler style of play cannot be too high. If they were going to invest any balancing time into redoing level sync entirely, I'd rather they instead came up with better ways to level up besides repeating easy low level content and the same handful of Leves/FATEs ad nauseam. The daily clan hunts and the new exp-loaded Vanu-Vanu quests are a nice start for people who want a little more variety without resorting to level sync; more please.
I like the fact that you can't use your higher level abilities for level-synced content. It brings the game/character/class back to a time before the end game stuff that gives it a feeling of nostalgia/uniqueness.
Agree, I leveled PLD as an alt to begin with and doing that you dont get gear as easy as your main, doing Tam-Tara no oaths etc having lvl 50s (was in 2.x) in the dungeon the aggro rip was real. If you had a BLM in your party and they were using Fire II it was so difficult, now imagine if they had ALL there abilities god Flare would be aggro rip and your not getting them back. So yeah totally against it, if you want to learn a class properly well um learn it properly do what ever you have to if you like the class put the time in to learn it without picking on poor low level tanks.
