Your Main Class - Which is it and Why?

I play WAR. I love being able to speed up runs and dish out the pain while still doing my job as a tank.

I ended 2.0 a war/blm. I tried DRK, and I really enjoyed it. But seeing how great dps on war was, I went back to it, and left DRK behind. I'm still a war/blm. woo

Well I don't use it to harass people, so I don't see what the problem is. Parsers don't flame people, people flame people.

I'd hate to see myself get suspended too, but I have more faith in the community than that. :)

It's not that. I understand why you post it and personally I dont care if folks use parsers. But SE's stance on them is dont ask/dont tell. So if they see it, they might throw down the ban hammer D:

Dark knight...and hopefully back to knight if next raid actually supports the toolkit.

knight because that's what i started the game as, i honestly forgot why i chose that as my first.

dark knight because HOLY CRAP I GET TO SWING AROUND A GREATSWORD.

Tannks. Only because I came out of FFXI spending most of the time on Red and other Dps. The only jobs anyone ever wanted was a reliably geared (Aegis) Tank and a Healer that didn't run out of MP mid fight and could remove doom. So between the two I picked Tank out of fear from the job pressure of healer. But it looks like I may need to get back into a dps for Ark queue.

Astrologian is my main, I just enjoy the cards so much more. Keeps me more active than White Mage, can't speak for Scholar as I don't even have that branch unlocked. I am working on Paladin now though but only cus I am doing it half for the glamour purpose, half for the FC as we don't have enough in the group.

I used to main DRG in ARR, but one of my friends said he was going to continue DRG in HW, so I thought I'd mix things up a bit in our little circle by going MNK instead.

Dragoon because im a sucker for spear classes. Only thing that could beat that would be a spellblade class, sadly we are not getting one ever lol.

monk.started with that class and after trying most other class,i always come back to monk.my only mistake,trying monk first,i cant enjoy any other class now :( damn you monk

DRG because the armor was the best but I'm slowly inching towards BLM it's just oo la la so fun!! I don't even see why BLMs complain I'm having a blast at 60.

Tried nin but once I had hit 50 in AAR I was disgusted with mudra lag and having to keep re applying Huton but now nin is great but just doesn't offer me the nostalgia of the BLM.

Warrior.

I love the tank role, being there defending my comrades from danger. But when I saw that Warrior used a TWO handed axe as a weapon the first thing i thought was " My body IS a shield! "

Black mage. I like that it's a bit more slow-paced than every other job. It has very few ogcds and the cast times give me time to plan my next move. Also, big explosions with big numbers attached are just so satisfying.

SCHOLAR!!!

I'm not too sure, I just fell in love with it, and still love it. I started the game as a WHM, since I was new and didn't know about Scholar; but once I started leveling Arcanist, ironically for Summoner as a DPS class, I grew attached to Scholar. It took some learning, it felt different more unique, and unlike WHM I fell in love with it, I didn't just think I would like it. I love managing my pet, being able to contribute extra DPS, consistantly, and I like the mitigation motif over pure heals. Scholar to me just feels awesome. I hope SE can continue to add more great skills to Scholar, like maybe a Libra skill, or some skills similar to their XI counterpart. I mean they fit the dual wielding white/black mage role beautifully.

Thought I don't like his fairy-theme lore and aesthetics, gameplay wise I like them. You can easily add both DPS and shields to the party, so you can focus in whatever you think it's necesary to help the group.

But I also like WHM, and will try AST soon.


Before that I was BLM. Started as SMN, but didn't like the pet system back them (In 2.0 it was a bit more difficult to use, I think)

I always pick caster classes, because why would anyone play a game without magic? :p

DRK because sexy weapon sexy animations sexy overall instant queues.

GLA/PLD has been my main since I started in 1.0. I know people dislike it because it's boring and uninteresting, but I like boring and uninteresting. :) I don't need ability bloat or some stupid gimmick to be able to defend my friends and loved ones from harm. Enki is a knight, pure and simple. And a knight she will always be. :)

White Mage. I've always loved playing healers, and white mage embodies everything I love about them. Powerful heals, yet strong attacks. The base class, Conjurer, has all the best cross-class skills for other healers. They have the nicest artifact gears (though I'd argue they still need a better-looking staff), and I can help anyone. Whether they're in my party or not.

I started as WHM and stayed like that until hitting 50 and trying to unlock all end-game content. As fresh 50 WHM in poopy class quest gear (while everyone had ST and Daystar sets (I got to 50 shortly near ST lockout removal)) I felt really uncomfortable and couldnt keep up with all that speedrunning. I still remember my first visit to CT and ST, I was solo healing both in said gear cuz co-healers were busy dps'ing/dying. So I figured I should wait a bit to get better gear and lvl SCH instead. So I rolled SCH which was pretty close to 50 anyway and ohmygod I was facerolling everything I couldnt as WHM. I still did the relic for WHM and once I got used to dungeon pace at 50 I returned to WHM cuz staff>book =3
But these days I main AST. I knew I was gonna main it the moment I unlocked it, it was pre-buffed AST and I for one wasnt even close to whine about AST being weak, I thought it was pretty good even back then. Card RNG is still driving me nuts but I find it less boring than WHM these days. I like the visuals apart from globe cuz staff is laif hehe and the amount of clutter on AF gear. Story was less boring than WHM (omg I hate WHM&CNJ quests).
I still use all healers almost equally and I still take WHM to do fast things where I dont really have time to play with cards cuz encounter ends faster than I draw 2-3cards, cuz Im both cba to draw those 2-3 for nothing and feel bad if Im not using cards %) SCH was my Alex Normal meta cuz amount of carries done since week 1 was unreal and I still prefer going in A4 as SCH.

My main class right now is SMN, I love to try and microorder my pet around and I love what they did with the smn in hw, it is also the class I mained at some part in ARR then I passed to BRD. I think I'll have problems again with choosing which to have as my main as BRD again is close to SMN, and right now I am gearing well both of the classes.

White Mage has been my main since I started. I like to heal in games, and I really enjoyed how White Mages heal. I tried SCH and AST but WHT will always be my favorite.

I only have one main at a time but I tend to swap to a different class at least once a year. Changes in how classes work have a huge effect in my choice of main. In ARR I mained BRD, because it was mobile and focused on dots. Then Heavensward came and I found SMN much more enjoyable. But that pet drives me nuts sometimes. The lack of quick burst can be troublesome as well. So now I'm dabbling in healing and tanking with WHM, AST and DRK, leaning on WHM so far. They have such a well made toolkit and a lot of healing power. Tried SCH but... the damn pet drives me nuts! I don't trust it. :D The pet AI could do with some improvements imo.

I find it kind of funny how my gaming history repeats itself. I mained druid (dot caster/melee, hot healer), hunter (dot ranged), death knight (dot melee/tank) and almost monk (hot+dps healer) before they ruined it in a patch. Moved over to FFXIV thinking I'll give all classes a fair chance to see what I enjoy here, then ended up loving the hunter-like BRD and SMN, the druid-like WHM and the DK-like DRK. If RDM gets added and it's a healer/dps hybrid like monk, I guess I'll be changing mains again.

I used to main black mage but now, I just don't know. I'm lost. I leveled up monk, summoner, black mage, and dark knight to 60, but none of them feel really interesting to play. I do Void Ark and roulettes as a summoner cuz summoner is my highest leveled job. My main? Just don't know. How's dragoon or ninja, if you don't mind me asking? I want to find my main job before the new relic quest.

WHM.

Usually in MMOs I always play a caster DD. But in XI I started as MNK, then remade a mithra WHM. I really enjoyed healing in XI. So when XIV came around, I thought I'd try LNC, this was 1.0. Found it a bit boring. When 2.0 launched I had a 6 month old daughter, so hearing that queues were quicker for heals and tanks, I decided to go back to my first MMO roots and WHM again.

So pleased I did. I really enjoy it. I do plan on leveling my MNK someday too. :3 I had it at 50 (as a dps for fc stuff if we had healers already) as homage to my first XI character.

SCH, because I easily tunnel vision and the fairy has saved my sorry arse more times than I can count. If you get me as your healer as AST or WHM, please forgive this fool if your HP drops to 1% before a saving Benefic/Cure II. :'>

PLD. I love the tanking in this game, the feel of controlling the field and directing where the fight goes and being the person who can take the hit from the boss and stand there like, "Is that all you've got?" At this point, being that it was my first class, I've gotten really used to playing PLD and knowing it's capabilities. I do play all of the classes and while I like certain things about other classes (I only ever use my BRD in 24 man content so I can keep myself far from stupid) I always fall back to my PLD.

BLM because Fire IV crits.

MNK, I love the constant movement in combat and the animations.

Scholar, always. I like the other healers but always come back to scholar in the end.
My secondary is dragoon because...I don't know. I just love it more than any other dps class.
My tank is dark knight for whatever reason. It's just the one I have at lvl60. I have warrior and paladin at lvl50 and before Heavensward, my favorite tank was paladin because the warrior's stacks felt weird, which is weird in itself since I've been playing scholar for so long. And yet, I have no trouble managing mp on DRK and keeping darkside up 100% of the time.

My main class started as a summoner. I love their spells, but I've gone back to my ninja since then. I love the quick use of their skills and the movement. I've also always been a sucker for the theif classes, they're my favorite.

I started the game as an Arcanist because it seemed a smart move to go into the open world as a mage with a pet. I also wanted to play it safe since this is my very first MMO. I wasn't wrong, and now I am a darn good Summoner.

Been looking all over the place for a good secondary class but, to this day, I have yet to find something that FEELS as adequate as a summoner. :p

After all the leveling and questing with other jobs, I can clearly say I dislike tanking and dragoons new play style. Sad, because I was really good with dragoon in 2.x.

WHM. I'm pretty supportive in nature so it was kinda fitting at first.

Though at one point I wanted to be an all around mage and lvled all my magic classes to 50 and even considered having BLM as my main. Anyways lvl cap increased and WHM changed considerably with multiple dots and a dumbed down stoneskin (I now call paperskin) but I still use it as I've been attuned to the lore of the WHM protecting nature, even though I hate those magical beings that assist you (the ones with the horns) since they contradict to what I find as good. Its a class quest thing :/. Still don't like astro, scholar and arcanist i moved aside as I'm kinda bored of it, and BLM I lvled to 60 as well since I still need that nuke power the BLM can dish out, the story is pretty good as well. X) So WHM main for now till it deviates from what I like, the'll I'll most likely be a BLM main. :)

Black Mage. It just feels good to blow stuff up.

MNK. +_+ I love the way I dance.

I started the game as a DRG but ran into some pretty long queues and pretty bad tanks back in 1.0 and 2.0 release so I switched it up to PLD, never looked back. While I do play other classes from time to time I seem unable to level anything else anywhere near endgame because when I play something else, I feel like playing my PLD. I know its not the greatest right now and I'm hoping that SE will fix it sometime soon, but in the meantime I love being the knight in shining armor, protecting my gf from harm in dungeons and controlling the flow of battle :)
