On topic, I would like Fenrir to fly. I know not everyone does, but its my favorite mount and I hate that I can't really use it very well in all the Heavensward areas. Just my two cents.

Inb4 people request it to dive in underwater zones come 4.0 next.

Why don't we just grant our own self the ability to fly? No need to have mount clutter.

It is, it's the same generic unicorn mount, with some deformed wings slapped on it, Not even going to bother wasting spoils on that thing.

what about slepnir from the cash shop? It's literally a $24 cash sink in Heavensward and has given me the most buyer's remorse from the cash shop.

This actually does make some sense.

Loki and Angrboda the giantess had Fenrisulvr in Norse mythology.

In Norse mythology, Hati (pronounced Hàté, meaning: ''he who hates'', or ''enemy'') or Månegarm (as referred to in the norse Edda) Hróðvitnisson, and Sköll (ö is pronounced like the 'i' in 'bird', or 'u' in 'fur') Hróðvitnisson (Hróðvitnisson means Son to the Famous wolf (Fenrisulvr, or, Hróðvitnir)) were Fenrisulvr's children (although enormous ones) wolves.

Hati and Sköll were insanely huge wolves. Hati's home were in the, according to the mythology, insanely dark and horrifying Järnveden forest located in Jotunheim, (Jotunheim meaning; Home of the Giants) Norway.
They lived off of the blood from the dying people who made the horrible mistake to traverse into the forest. Hati and Sköll were obsessed with the Sun and the Moon, and chased them ferociously, in hopes of devouring them.
Eventually, Hati's and Sköll's obsessive chase will come to an end at the day of Ragnarök when they will catch up to the Sun and the Moon and devour it.

Sköll (meaning; Betrayal/Betrayer/Treachery) were the one who chased the horses Árvakr and Alsviðr who dragged the Sun in their chariot day in, and day out.
Sköll seems to have a certain ability that allows him to share his ability to supposedly fly with his father, Fenrisulvr.

Sköll and Hati has a song given to them in the book ''Codex Regius'' (make it for SMN or SCH, SE).

even to the Sheltering grove.

A second fares, Moon-hater, offspring of Fenrir

Its a wolf, Fenrir isn't going to magically grow wings or start walking on air because spending 1mil MGP automatically makes it entitled to be a flying mount. Enjoy the bragging right that you are one of few owners until everyone else doing GS challenge log all gets one too.

One million MGP actually takes a long while to accumulate (even with the new challenge log) unless you get insanely lucky with jumbo cactpot, so I personally think it is nice they are letting Fenrir fly.

To all the people saying no because he is a wolf well you don't have to use him in the air. He can still be just a ground mount for you if you want him to be.

Having the option is always nice for people who do want it. In no way does the game force you to use Fenrir for flying just because they add it. You will still have all your other flying mounts to use.

problem is if you make fenrir fly your just gonna get "why cant sleipnir fly?" or all the ponies including pvp, or the turtle,beast tribe mounts and all that would be ridiculous.
Best thing to do is dont put flying in every expansion or have areas you cant fly in

Players will demand every mount be able to fly because it's "rare", and SE will give into those demands. No need to worry about your favourite mount being unable to dive underwater.

That's what I been saying all this time, but no one is going to listen because it's always "You don't HAVE to use the flying mounts" or some other nonsense. It's why I say heck with it and just let the players be able to fly themselves without needing wings on every single mount.

I hope the dev. team looking into this realizes that it is a stupid idea and that Fenrir should not be a flying mount. I agree with whoever said that not every mount needs to be able to fly.

God forbid the devs give players choices. All you guys screaming for mounts to stay grounded can keep them grounded if you wish. And the rest of the player base that has accepted flying as the new and improved way of traveling in the game can choose to do so if they wish. All I'm seeing is a bunch of crying and whining for something so trivial and not effecting you in the slightest if unless you choose to let it effect you. I'm all up for giving players choices so yes let all the mounts fly so they have a reason to be used.

And to be honest, if you haven't noticed that they are making all the mounts fly to make them relevant going forward then you haven't been paying attention. Flying areas are going to be the norm going forward with expansions so naturally they are going to make all the mounts able to fly to accommodate that. If you so choose to stay ont he ground then by all means do so while all of us that have accepted flying mounts as the way to travel wave at you as we fly by.

And the (better imo) alternative is adding mounts that can fly, rather than retrofitting old mounts to fly (whether it makes sense for them to or not) due to player demand. I like to keep it within the realm of final fantasy's willing suspension of belief, and that doesn't include having things like bears, elbsts, coeurls and behemoths flying.

When you look back at the retrofitted mounts, none of them changes the rider's posture in the air, and only the Magiteks, Kirin and Ahriman (only for air slicing) has new animations for flying. Bomb palaquin and ADS does not have any new animations.

And I normally don't say this, but really, there's some more important things that I'd rather them to address rather than making dev responses to make tortoise and hoarhounds (which very few players have mind you) flying. There's only so much that asethetics/glamour can do for the game until the baseline of it breaks from underneath. Of course, we could just settle with them running or hopping (in the case of future gigantoad mounts) if we don't care for the willing suspension of belief.

But it's perfectly fine to make everything able to fly because MAGIC! And it's Final "Fantasy"! That means we can get away with anything because fantasy says so!

I'm not keen on the idea of every single mount gaining the ability to fly - especially those that don't really fit the idea of a 'flying mount' or are generally just added for the sake of prestige in the first place. I'd rather see more content that makes use of ground mounts - such as a special dungeon - to ensure that they have a niche moving forward.

How about Sleipnir? He's been seen running through the sky in at least 2 FF's to date.

Fenrir has flown in Final Fantasy games before, either in summoning or cutscenes. One of my favorite cutscenes from Final Fantasy XI has Fenrir in it! ^..^

People keep coming back to what Fenrir did in previous titles as support for why it should fly, but the mount isn't Fenrir. It's just named after him. Not to mention Fenrir isn't a summon or a magical being in FFXIV, he's simply the alpha hoarhound.

The mount is named Fenrir, it might not be THE Legendary Fenrir but it's a purebred member of it's pack which makes it almost just as good imo.

How would Fenrir fly? That doesn't really make sense in my mind...

Oh I read it all. B/c mounts people actually like to collect in MMO's and they've always had a place as a way to travel in these types of games. This isn't Aion. If you wanna fly then go play that. But Yoshida has done a copy of some things from WoW and WoW had mounts in them to get around. They didn't have any personal characters flying around though.
