willing to pay now also by the time version 2.0 is released u will walk around like a boss with all those capped classes lol.
It's a bold move to charge now for an essentially "old game" that get's completely replaced in about a years time. Can people really enjoy this game now with the information and screen shots we just received?
In addition we don't even know if this game ever reaches the 2.0 Stage. There is no guarantee that SE will ever release it. 2013 for the PS3 release is pretty late in the consoles life cycle, we might see new consoles by then.
I doubt more than 50% will stay with a full price subscription. The game just barely hangs on to it's current customer base because it is free. Looking at it from Squares point of view, 50% is better than nothing i guess.
I am myself still subscribed to FFXI and not going to change that. If there is a package deal for FFXI+FFXIV that is reasonable (Euro 20 a month), maybe.
Right now i am just not enjoying the game enough to be willing to pay full price. It's simply too frustrating in so many aspects, especially combat.
Until something dramatically changes, i will not subscribe and stay with FFXI, it's still going very strong and has so much content it'll last me for more than a year easy.
I really hope they lower the subscription cost for the game in its current state. I'll pay for it at half its cost until its full reboot next year, but otherwise no, I don't think this game is worth shelling out $12/month for. Not now.
i might pay but for unfinished game i wont pay 12$.
and why they want us to pay now then free trial again in 2012 then start paying again?
agreed i would personally feel more comfortable with $6.00 a month till we have a full game. By paying a minimal price like that ($6.00) the community that stays is stating hey we want to help in paying u guys to make this game great, and SE would be saying hey customers we still have half a game here is a break on the monthly fee.
We'd be paying for being able to play what's essentially a prequel... People who start the game later won't be able to play the content we have access to.
Personally I think that's pretty awesome.
ehhh pretty bad idea, if one was going to start charging, they should probably wait till they have a stronger patch coming, a little more momentum, and not at the same time as a new major MMO comes out. At least they should try to push the cost with jobs, people might pay just to test that out, but the 1.20 patch? its basically a continuation of this patch. Bad decsion by the people upstairs, but ehhh i guess any money they get is more than no money.
I'm still iffy on the subs but I want these updates to really impress me like those concept art did. If the subs will help speed it up, then I'll support it.
I also agree with the half price motion.
Are you reading this Yoshi-P?
Can someone explain me what going to be on 1.20 so i know 100% sure i got lost with all the stuff they going to add to even know what going to be added or not in the next patch.
Tbh I'm on the fence on this one. Ok, I hae no issue in paying a monthly subscription for an mmo. That extends to this one to. What leaves a tingle in the mouth so to speak is that they have thrusted this upon us with very short notice. Almost like it was "ok, we got a good reaction from the last update, let's squeeze them now before they change their minds".
Also, despite the outlook being good, we would be paying monthly for a year before v2.0 hits us. Thats alot of cash from each of us (say, $10 a month, it's not rocket science to work out that you've spent $120 by the time v2 rolls out)
I think they jumped the gun a bit. If they said late jan-early feb, then maybe more ppl would be willing to pay
Lucinda xXx
I'm finally having fun in this game. I don't mind paying.
Of course I like the idea of a reduced payment plan and/or extra Characters & Retainers for no extra charge. ;>P
this is my feeling here. it's like "ok we got a good reaction get as much money as we can before they start seeing the flaws". i mean it's not like yoshi himself hasn't already made a post apologizing for them not testing stuff properly before putting it into the game and having to push an emergency maintenance out to correct it.
i have no problem paying a monthly fee, but i have a problem paying a monthly fee when the game is nowhere near even in the state it should be upon release. the only things i'd want fixed before i paid the monthly fee was the crafting changes completed, the server issues corrected, the battle system completed, and the job system added.
in other words i want the basics in game. every mmo rotates around the battle system and this game doesn't have a completed one. they completely gutted the crafting system we haven't seen the new hq system with materia or all the new recipes for the other classes. the job system we have all been looking forward to and those are still not in game yet. they are telling us things are coming, but i don't just waste money on good faith hoping they will eventually get around to those things.
reduced fee will be good. personally I recommend people to look when February comes, I think that the timeframe when all basic things are done
Sorry with BF3 coming out and I currently play (and pay) EvE Online there is no way I will even think about paying for a unfinished game. I hardly get on as it is not why would I want to pay $15 to watch it sit on my HDD? added to the fact I totally despise Click and Buy. I guess I'll just check back in a year and MABEY if SE isn't bluffing and FF14 is still afloat (Fabul is almost always a dead server) I decide on weather or not to pay for this game
Well, seeing as how the current content and story lines won't be playable anymore once v2.0 launches, I'll be paying just to play the current content being added.
I want to play the story that effects the course of the world in v2.0. I love the lore so it's worth it for me.
I won't consider paying until after 2.0. So far, it seems like yoshi-p's team is just doing sidegrades. The game is still fairly wretched, it simply sucks in different ways now.
like 2 dungeons were added, but leves were destroyed. materia system is cool, but all my gear is being deleted. Thanks! You hose my jade hora +2 i bought the day before the item announcements and then tell me I get to pay you more REAL money for the pleasure.

Definite yes. What they have already delivered and that which is promised is impressive enough to make me giddy with excitement.
the p2p isn't the issue. it's going p2p before being release ready that is. if the game was up to the standards i expect out of a game upon release i would be glad to pay full price for it now. i just don't see how anyone paying full price for half a game is setting a good example for the future of the game or the company.
to me it would have been better accepted from day 1 charging than it is now. day 1 they stated the game is in bad shape and due to the bad responses they were going to make it f2p until it was up to their standards. just within the last month or so wada states this game was so bad that it is undergoing a complete overhaul and has actually hurt the franchise and yoshi stated the game was only 50% complete. does that seem like a good representation of what up to their standards is?
If they don't start bringing in money for this game it won't be around next year to be up to your standards. If you are so unhappy about it, go away, the rest of us will pay and support the game so that you can enjoy it next year.
I'll stick around and see. Didn't vote yes or no. It will boil down to the payment options. 15$ a month I can deal with as I do get quite a bit of entertainment out of the game however if I'm still stuck with either Click & Buy or Crysta.. I may have to bow out until they offer more standardized payment options like every other game out there.
Wait and see approach for me.. as for V2.0.. very excited. :)
I'm quite surprised 2/3rds will pay but its defiantly good to see yes favoring.
I still think its a bad idea, if the game was about 4 times more popular maybe, but with the amount of peeps playing losing 33% is a lot.
I won't be subscribing until jobs are in the game
As much as I agree with you, going another year without any revenue will hurt the company. I think they are relying on the ps3 release to make up the loss of players in the upcoming month. It's really at a business stand point and they feel this the way to go.
And to answer your question...No I don't feel this is a good way for them to represent themselves.
I thought it would cost 12.99 or now they think they can ask for more?
No. I won't stay.
This game has great potential, but I think that charging for it now is going to kill it prematurely, before the game can show players what it can become.
I will not settle for anything other than a finished product, thus I will not be paying until 2.0 hits.
My real worry is that the lack of significant subscriptions might end up cancelling the game before it reaches 2.0.
I would like to say i'm fine with starting to pay a fee, but i'm sorry paying to play what is (lets face it) essentially a beta leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. It also feels like this has been put to us rather fast, as if "quick they are distracted by last patch let's sneak this in while we can".
If my current RL situation was different and i was able to work, i would probably be a little better with this or if they reduced their price a little untill 2.0 is released. If my circumstances in RL change over the next few months i might change my mind but as it stands of now i will not be paying or staying to play.
I'll be here. I think with all the work they've done so far, it will only get better from here. I am being optimistic (which does not happen much in my real life - glass half empty kinda gal) because I really love the game so far and I'm tired of playing the mindless run of themeparks (WoW, EQ2, etc.) out there.
