I just exped a bunch tonight, about 4 hours and 20 leves later I got I went from 35 to 36 on my gladiator. They really need to up the exp on these. I guess if your hardcore you can get like 1 level a day if you spend 4-5 hours a day on it. Get level 50 in a month maybe. But that's not going to happen though I can say grinding all those leves was not fun.
My character has like 10 anima left (partly do to spending about 75 to unlock a chocobo earlier) and has none of the bonus exp guardians favor stuff left. So probably would have to not play while while that stuff recharges to get the max exp out of leves. Still have plenty of leve left though, 60 of them but why do them without guardians favor no exp buff.
Still very much a problem in the game some people think well yea all this grinding to get level 50 classes is fun, but to me it seemed rather monotonous and not fun sitting there doing leves for 4 hours.
edit: Someone asked about gear. Mostly I have level 20 stuff that is all dated. I got some random level 30 pants from a leve. The thing is any new gear is 200k+ a piece which way too expensive and unaffordable. I don't have anywhere near the money to buy a set of new gear like for level 30s. It doesn't really look like gear makes that much difference I mean it may have a couple more defense rating on it but that's about it. I noticed a common theme that everyone charges 200k for everything no matter what level it is 30 40 or 50. I guess SE wants you to level up armor crafting and a gathering if you want cheap gear or something? Which I am not really too interested in doing.
Solution: have fun enjoying the quests and main scenario quests and grand company quests while you slowly build up in level. I'm not being sarcastic at all. I was actually very disappointed at how fast I leveled when I was Lv.38, because I didn't have enough time to take a breather and go through the quests I'd seen popping up in the cities.
If you have to run past level 90 monsters you took a wrong turn.
