The Dragons neck.......
Despite telling people what to do, this still don't do it.
all it takes is 2 people screwing up or 1 in some cases and its game over.
AV / KotL for Dungeons - Chrysalis / Steps of Faith / Ravana / Ultros for Trial
basically anything that requires randoms to have an IQ of 80+ (or when do you stop breathing? >.>)
Out of these its AV tho, even if i level tank and can control pace/amount of mobs pulled etc. i'll just gladly take the 30 min penalty as soon as it pops up. That place can stay the rotting piece of a dungeon it is <.<
Aurum Vale and TamTara NM
YES! I kept having that trial pop up and every single time the people in my group never knew what to do so we always kept on wiping! Dx that's one of my least favorite trials. I HATE getting a trial during leveling roulette. Like ifrit normal, Titan normal and Garuda normal because you barely get any xp! So I would rather get a low lvl dungeon heck any dungeon than a trial which barely gives any extra xp.
I just leave whenever I get Toto-rak and Aurum Vale.
Steps of Faith
Chrysalis
...seen too much of both lately and I've never really liked either of those.
And of course: alwaysreap.
This... its just so long and boring. Other then that I don't care what I get. Never had an issue with Bismarck but only done the fight a few times. I usually get Rav or garuda.
Never had a problem with AV. Only failed to complete it once and that was because we ran out of time (healer/dps issue on last boss). I like it because it is super easy if you know what you are doing and super fun to watch people fail over and over.
Bismark or Ravana - you either get lucky with all downscaled 60's or it is a train wreck. My favorite was a Ravana group I had a few months ago - dps was 3 leveling BRDs and me (BLM.) Yeah, two of the BRDs refused to stop AoE'ing the adds...fun times.
Stone Vigil: As a tank I feel claustrophobic.
The Fractal Continuum: Just no
Brayflox Longstop: Is it just me or people seem to get a little derpy in this dungeon. ._.
Hmm, hard for me to say, but I can say that I dislike Toto-Rak more ever since they made the change where stepping on and off of that green goo causes sound effects to happen (when the "leaden" status is applied and removed). I KNOW for a fact the goo didn't used to work that way and I will never understand why they felt changing that was a good idea. It makes the goo about 300 times more irritating to me... so if that was the point, well then, mission accomplished, I guess.
Vishap is a total joke nowadays (never lost it since the nerf, even in some pretty bad parties that would have not stood a chance pre-nerf) and the trial actually gives bonus EXP compared to (all of?) the rest of the trials on the roulette.Quote:
Tam Tara, toto-rak, and Vishap are the absolute worst and I get them CONSTANTLY. Once in a very blue moon I'll do a leveling roulette and get Ifrit trial and it makes me scream with joy.
No, it wasn't. You stepped in, you gained leaden status, but with no sound or visual effect. You stepped out, you lost the leaden status, again with no sound or visual effect. There was a patch that specifically changed this, and due to the sheer number of times the dungeon forces you and 3 other people to walk through the stuff, it was immediately very noticeable. No settings were changed on my part; PS3 doesn't exactly let you change a whole lot.Quote:
I'm 99% sure that the sound effect has been there since ARR beta, so...maybe you just changed some sound settings? Because I could always hear that "tchiuu tchiuuu" noise whenever I stepped on and off that stuff xD
Copper Bell - for no good reason it just annoys me (NM or HM).
AV is actually one of my favorites :). That and the library in 3.0.
Titan. Both Normal and Hard. Dear lord, Titan. To this day, Titan remains a boss I consistently struggle with. If I get Titan, I'm likely to go 'F this isn't worth it' and drop.
Probably a tie for Stone Vigil NM and Qarn NM. I hate them even more synced. Others are tolerable, but for some reason these aren't for me.
I should have just put I dislike both because of how unlucky I am with groups. Either nobody listens and fails mechanics, or- no, that's it I guess. :P
Don't get me wrong, I think every dungeon has just the right look, and feel/setting, but the loss of 90% of my skills and then the players that ignore mechanics, definitely put a few in my sights for an uncomfortable and/or unpleasant experience. Oddly enough, I never have problems with groups in AV, and people complain about that one the most.
Sastasha , Aurum Vale, Bismark
Chrysalis.
For me it's neverweep, because I weep every time I get it..as for the lower level ones....thousand maws, I lost count of how many times ive fallen asleep in there.
1000 maws of totorak by far. Who designed it to have green goo on the floor at the last part? It's so annoying! Next ones after that would be cutter's cry and qarn normal. They're so boooring!
On dps, nothing really.
On healer, everything except maybe snowcloak.
Hmm. I've never had any dungeons I drop on just by joining. But I admit that I despise Toto-rak. It's a pain to heal on(fecking minibosses and warden whips) and the leaden sections don't help. Though I also am getting tired of sastasha nm and tamtara nm as leveling roulette keeps freaking giving me them.
I gotta join the Aurum Vale -hating bandwagon here.
First room has ridiculous facepulling issues with the mob aggro. Mobs hit generally hard. Mobs have a ton of HP. People can be inconsistent with the bosses (yeah, I know, more of a player-flaw than a design-flaw). The dungeon generally takes long to do, or at least if feels long. I don't like the dungeon thematically what with the Morbols and all kinds of poisonous swamp-mobs and stuff. The color scheme of the dungeon hurts my eyes in the first room. And finally and most importantly - the fact you sync to level 49, meaning you miss out on so many pivotal level 50 abilities. No Flare, no Storm's Eye, no Medica II - and the list goes on.
Bonus hate-points for myself having PTSD from having done the crappy dungeon so many times for the Zeta drop (back in ARR). I had generally godly luck on my 1st Zeta apart from Hullbreaker and AV - the worst combo ever..
I don't hate AV as much as I used to since I've run it solo a few times unsynced on SMN and gotten my revenge.
Stone Vigil is the worst one to get if you have any first timer now. Especially a new tank. An experienced group can mow through it, but goodness help you if you have a new tank there.
As for trials, Chrysalis has now replaced Steps of Faith as Worst Trial Duty To Roll Into. Had one the other day where we got the new person notice but no one would fess up to being the new person. So I carefully explained the first two phases of the fight, where you have to run through the balls, and we nearly wiped during the first one and did wipe during the second one because nobody listened to me. Half the group left. I felt bad, but it was late and my melatonin had kicked in and I just was too tired to deal with people not listening.
2.0 Aurum
3.0 Neverreap
I hate those fat owls.
I have a feeling that the 2nd boss of Aurum Vale is going to be hit with the nerf bat, good riddance. /spit
Sure, that boss is easy assuming you know the mechanic, but that doesn't mean I don't get clubbed to death everytime I'm in there and the tank and healer die on the first swing.
I love Stone Vigil... been grinding my tanks there. Well that might be why I like it tho. ^^
But for some weird reason I have been getting players wearing crafter gear or even materials for crafting in there... it is like epidemic. I don't understand why anybody would wear the crap gear that drops in Quarn's chests... but it is getting way too common.
Toto-Rak... the slow sludge... lack of fun abilities... I really hate rolling leveling duty into that one.
I'm kinda sick of both for expert, I cant wait for new stuff.
The crysalis is a nightmare always.
Thousand Maws of Total Sh**. Tar on the ground, really?
What's with all the hate for AV though? It's fun imo. All the xp! And the trash/boss mechanics keep you on your toes and prepare you for 50+. The first boss could be a bit more interesting than just being an easy version of the last boss.
Copperbell Mines Hard Mode is the 10th circle of Hell, the mechanics and adds just feel really odd for the first boss. Qarn NM is also incredibly time consuming, the second boss has way too much health for no reason.
I'll take peoples' word for it if they say that enemies in AV have bloated health but perhaps that compensates for the fact that the dungeon is otherwise so damn short? I don't care if I have to tank it other than the fact that toads exist there - and I hate toads with an unyielding passion in absolutely any part of the game. That and having a melee DPS that potentially weaves stuns into their rotation because then I have to bother actually dodging Coin's swing.
If I were to pick any run, then I guess I might say Thornmatch(HM) solely because all I know about tanking there is that someone supposedly grabs the King and lures him to one side of the map while the other tank grabs the Marauder and Gladiator moogles and brings them to the far side - the issue being that I'm not quite sure if there's anything else I'm ever supposed to be doing there and it makes me a little nervous to approach it as a tank.
Totorak, so boring and slow and looong.. I get numb even thinking about it @.@
Nope, there isn't. About the only other thing a tank might want to do is stun/silence the BLM's Pom Flare if absolutely none of the other 4 DPS can do it, but that sort of scenario is exceptionally rare (basically, if your DPS are 4x BLM), and nowadays the BLM usually dies before it can cast it anyway.Quote:

None of the moogles aside from the King, PLD, and WAR can be tanked; they do whatever they feel like. This applies in EX too.
