Well, you countered your own point. The number itself might not be so big, but the fact that they are physical items taking up space in an inventory that's already struggling to keep up with the item pool is just...bad.

I didn't counter my own point, I was agreeing with you. Just pointing out that I found that phrasing amusing.

You'd be surprised what you can accomplish when you lose half of your subscribers in one year, and suddenly have a decade worth of server hardware being underutilized. I'll bet if half of the FFXIV player base quit today, they would suddenly have capacity to give everyone two free retainers, if not more.
