As a role player, I see the potential of having ic children....

As a role player, I see the danger of it going weird and pedo...

I don't trust people to be normal.... please don't add kids.

Why does everyone automatically jump to "pedophilia" any time a thread like this comes up? XD I know its a Japanese game but come on folks...overreacting a bit?

See I like the Kid hero trope too...there has been tons of tv shows and games with kid heroes, and no one ever found them weird at all XD

Thank you for posting that image - I seem to now remember seeing that pic on the original Lodestone. Reading that though, the context I got from that is that it's not 'proving' that minors can become adventurers, more that the Onion Helm was given to children when they came of age (in other words, reached adulthood), hence the reference to 'starting on their life's journey'.

Which really is exactly what is already happening meta wise in the game anyway - it's long been stated that adventurers are 'free spirited youth', so that Onion Helm reference kind of confirms that. Anyway, thanks again for posting that image. :)

That's because the plot is made around the child hero. In FFXIV, it's made around characters either reaching adulthood (around 18?) or are adults themselves (Hildibrand quests are the only place where it would make sense to be a child hero).

I'm curious as to why a Miqo'te child appearing in the game opens up threads wanting to play as a child, whereas Hyur and Elezen children never did...

You can thank the forces of the FBI and other criminal investigation organizations for that, as in the eyes of the law a race the lalafell are to much of a child to not be seen as such in the eyes of the law.

Btw. I wouldn't mind if Alphinaud's model was available for Elezen.

I guess it depends on culture what "children" means. My brother and I are both in our 30s. We're obviously not "children" but we are our parents "children". So, in this context, "children" could be any age, not just some pre-puberty kids.

Well, it's not exactly the same thing, but as far as RP goes, I've taken to looking after the Doman Kids the WoL inspired into becoming "Rookie Adventurers".

Not so much like a dad, more like the crazy uncle that the kids always look forward to seeing.

During the time they put playable kids also in XI, seeing that there are kid NPCs longer than in XIV

In short, the existence of kid NPCs is not enough to create playable kid characters.

Sorry to dig this topic from the grave again, but in 1.0 in the uldah quest line there was a teen/child elf( honestly looked around 14) and I would've liked the option to play as that, or at the very least have the slider options to make one. I would have been an elezen today if they did XD

Wait, you want them to accompany you and not play as them? Thats just kinda weird. Whats wrong with the Cait Sith minion?

Can easily be changed to, "Aren't you just the sweetest thing, I could gobble you up!" Like the "if" function doesn't apply to FFXIV like seriously (referring to code).

In the Ul'dah Line for 2.0 there are some Lalafell Children playing with some Hyur Children. The Lalafell Children look exactly like the Lalafell adults however. I still think that Lalafell are like Kiwi Birds and hatch from Eggs.

Some of them still do, but it's not nearly as common. I guess instead of a racial trait, it was made more into a family trait starting in 2.0
