Maybe instead of worrying about Eso you should focus more on the aspects you do enjoy. If dungeons are boring as a DPS then try leveling a healer or tank. Go Pony farm. Try leveling your other gathering or crafting classes. Try PVP. People claim there is so little to do, but if you're not capped at 60 on everything then there's still plenty to do, you just have to stop being pissed at whatever has you upset and take a look at your other options.

You have some valid points, but it doesn't matter how long between patches. People always complain that they're bored. There were threads like this a few weeks after release of Heavensward. People do rush through stuff, people fail to look at the larger picture. I know people who have sworn that they didn't find PVP fun, but never even tried it. Once I finally talked them into doing some matches with me they were hooked.

If people are bored maybe they should log off and play another game or do something IRL while they're waiting on the next content patch.

They're already in the Leveling Roulette. They just come up somewhat rarely since that includes everything from 1-49 as well.

Leveling roulette gives a pathetic amount of tomes for how long some of the dungeons take, why can't it be bumped up to 75 too honestly? It'll give us more variety in farming Esoterics, and variety is a good thing. Logging in everyday for DREX has started to feel more tedious than work at this point.

I do think Leveling Roulette is highly undervalued at level cap (it always has been--few rewards they can offer are worth the risk of drawing Aurum Vale x.x). Most pre-50 dungeons take longer than anything they've added since, so it should really, at minimum, offer the same number of tomes as an Expert Roulette. I know why they don't, though, because sometimes you get lucky and draw something like Ifrit (which I suppose they could fix by moving the MSQ Trials over to Trials Roulette).

I play all 3 types of classes. I got botanist to 60. I did pvp up to rank 38. I actually enjoy PvP a lot, the ques are just abysmally long. I don't know what I haven't done. I would've loved a Crystal Tower roulette. I honestly have'nt gotten tired of CT. It felt epic, and fun to do.

I'm sorry, this is a lame arguement. I can only do so much when I hit 60. I don't do one thing over and over, I've done a lot of things over and over. Maybe if we had more than 2 dungeons in the roulette people wouldn't bitch so much.

Okay so we either have people who agree, or people who say "don't rush through everything". I'm sorry, I'll just go run around Limsa's lower decks and do nothing productive. There may be a lot to do in the game, but the duty finder kind of constricts it. I can't just log on and do something fun through the duty finder. I have to wait. The game feels like a lobby you can run around in.

You would say the same thing if it was three dungeons...even four, possibly even five dungeons.

They're right. The game is what you make of it. MMOs go beyond just the basic gameplay.

Personally, I think having every dungeon on Expert would make people's lives easier. But I ultimately despise having to cap tomes each week... but I always feel the need to.

Its not an argument, its an opinion.

If it helps, I only log on randomly to solo dungeons. Worries me a lot that the only thing I find fun in this MMO anymore is the solo content...

If it makes you feel any better, 3.1 is only 2-3 weeks away (they said it would be November 10th at the latest).

I'm also getting burned out on esoterics grinding, and i would be done after next week if i hadn't decided to main astrologian (I decided that for all intents and purposes, they play exactly the same as a white mage with fewer utilities. I switched to scholar to help me get through my daily roulette more quickly)

People still talk about rushing content, but with so many caps there really isn't a way to rush except skipping texts of quests.
I think it is time to stop coating small amount of endgame content behind "rushing".

IMO they should have taken their well-deserved break (no sarcasm) after 3.1, when there will be hopefuly more content.
3.0 just doesn't provide enough fun for 5 months and "take a break" has become one of the most used advices here on forums, which shows I am right. :D

EDIT: And I have done all sidequests while reading trough all of them, got 4 jobs to 60 (not counting crafts and gatherers), helped FC with 4 ships, doing new house look and also garden, farmed a few new cards, chocobo rank, pvp to 50, I am progressing a4s at this moment and have done a few new glamours. I don't really think that I have rushed anything, there just wasn't much to do from start except the grind content like getting everything to 60, gearing all crafts, getting all cards etc. and which is nice fluff for people who want everything, but definitely not considered (by me) a core end-game of any game. And even the stuff I have done was mostly grind.

This, in my opinion, is why MMORPG's need to go back to focusing on making the journey THROUGH the game very long and full of wonderful things to do along the way. Not that those older games weren't full of their own downfalls in design, but the basic concept makes sense. Make the game fun and creative along the way, and make it a long journey. Otherwise it's a rush to the end and burnout. It always happens. There is a reason EQ and FFXI are still being played 15+ years later. Just sayin!

I have it worse, ever since Beastymen quests came out I did them Every. Single. Day. without fail, unless of course there was day-long maintence. I have long since been Ally with every beastyman, but I still do the quests EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I need help. I feel obligated to do them but jeez, I'm feeling burnt out. A couple times I wouldn't cap tomes or do every TT tournament match, but I would always do my beastymen quests.

After this maint. I've decided that's it, no more beastymens until the Vanu Vanu, but I need help. Any advice for an addict trying to break the habit? Dailies are bad, they just feed addictions.

Even with EQ and FFXI, as with ALL MMORPGs, you will have people who bum-rush through the game and then b*tch about having nothing to do. It's just an inconvenient yet absolute truth to the genre. There will always exist a group of people who play it as a single-player action-adventure game rather than playing it as an MMO. There will always exist a group of people who only play it for end-game content. It's those types of people who get burned out the quickest. There's nothing that's going to stop them from doing it, so you just have to let them do it and learn the hard way. Sometimes children need to touch the fire to finally learn that it's hot. MMOs are no different.

The only thing you can do is file all their complaints into a bin labeled "nobody cares" and move on with your own life, leaving them to figure things out for themselves.

Ya hopefully they will do something to keep people interested in playing for longer. Capping tomes and scrips doesn't seem to be working for a lot of people. Gold saucer is nice but with the only rewards being glamour, it's easy to just not even bother going there. I stopped capping tomes 2 months ago. Mainly because the game is so easy i don't feel the need to even get item level 200 gear. I'll be sad if FFXIV just becomes a revolving door of new people playing for 2-3 months then quitting.

Yeah capping times after you get your wep/ chest is kinda pointless really; you really should try pvp if you don't have anything to do, despite all the gripes, PVP is amazing in this game. Also have you tried arr content unsynced? Nothing like trying to own all those old runs with 1-2 FC mates, and desynth all that gear for mats, pretty lucrative. Treasure maps are fun way to pass the time too. I think your main problem is you need friends

I have not capped many times. I still enjoy the game.

Real life stuff > in game stuff.

On that note. I could likely have gotten a PHD with all the time I spend playing MMOs over the last 10 years.

Sometimes I log with only enough time to do Trials.
Sometimes I log do every roulette, DoH, DoL Hunts.. I log because I have done everything beside leveling another DoM or DoW

There is still a lot of class quests you haven't done that bring everything together.

I haven't been in Alexander normal with the intention to get a loot since savage came out (only a few times to help out friends).

I haven't capped eso for 2 month, and haven't gotten any eso at all for a month


for all of these, I have yet to see a single change in my game experience. Nothing forces you to cap, except yourself.

...So really. I am the only one that enjoys the content in the game as is..

Well that's fine for you, but the rest of us want more endgame content than two dungeons and a raid with 4 bosses.

I haven't capped in a while, hell I haven't played in 2 weeks, I still need the rest of the MCH set, but I just don't have the motivated to log on daily for expert roulette.

I used to be dead set on capping each week and used to play all the time, but this is the first time I am really feeling the content drought.

I pay a monthly subscription for this game. If I'm having to spend 90% of my time in other games just to have fun, there is no reason to continue paying that subscription. I didn't say that's all I do now did I? My point is I'm playing with people who hate a game they are playing.

I do the roulettes more than once a day and sometimes I just pick one I like doing.(I just don't do expert except once..damn neverreap). Lot of those dungeons are fun.

I don't do raids because you people are generally unpleasant and take raids way too seriously.

I find the game fun. What isn't fun is when I have to deal with buzzkillers like yourself.

Sure, you have to accept that there are limits and the game can't have exactly the level and amount of content that's best for you personally.

But there's still such a thing as too little content. 3.0 was an expansion that made the game smaller. There's less to do at cap than pretty much any other time in the game. Arguably 2.0 launch, but if we have to compare the game with years of content and just introducing its expansion to where it was right when it launched before a comparison can be made, then it's already a bit messed up.
