While it would be nice, I don't think more bars are necessary yet. If Heavenswards are nay indication, we'll get new attack, new CDs and generally new actions, eventualy that may be too much alone but we arn't at that point yet, let alone beyond it.
The ideal solution would be to make some macros to switch the commands around, allow players to change the icons on their Gearsets (that's why I have Gearset macros, I see the icons too bland) and if they aren;lt already there allow macros that place macros on the hotbar if so needed, but either will never happen. Becuase SE wants to blame the character data meaning as long as there is a single man willing to whine when bad luck cost him that epic raid loot, they will never add anything regardign Quality of Life to this game
Dumb request. I hope they reduce the amount of hotbars by half just to annoy the OP.
who needs a hotbar for dyes rofl
I agree with you OP. All my 10 bars are used and I need more. My pvp skills are crammed into a tiny hotbar with food and pots because i dont have anywhere else to put them.
Not to knock the OP but I am just posting this as a suggestion to help with the crowding. Personally, I see no reason for dyes, but for classes I do.

1-3 is combat
4 is PvP
5 is items and skills only used in small occasions.
6 is my marking, usually hidden but still works when hidden
7/8 Classes and mounts
9 Being Hunts and swimsuit glamour
10 is LB, Chocobo commands and Exp food.
1-5 change with my class.
Past my glitchy UI, Hotbar 5 to 10 are shared across the board. Hotbar 1 to 3 are for Job abilities while 4 is reserved for PvP and teles/LB. (Some PvP skills do get weaved into Hotbar 3.) While I do have some space left, that could change in a heartbeat.
I don't see how anyone can play with the F# keys, let alone past F4. Anything past 5 is a stretch for me and why none of mine are used. xD
Lol, I make it work somehow. Just like Controller in left hand and Keyboard in right hand with arms crossed sometimes. >.>
Basically 1 to 6 are what I call, "Overused" keys. 7 and up are what I call, "Situational" keys. So when it comes to certain actions, I know which side they'll be. I keep all buffs together and tie actions keys that feel very comfortable to me.
That's why I struggled quite a bit on the last MMO I played, before I mapped kb keys to a controller, and why I love playing ffxiv with the crossbar. I can only make good use of 1-6 on the kb, and struggle to use much beyond shift for additional bars. Plus I can't move while using skills and it all hurts my hands/wrists. :(
Crossbar for life <3
#1-7
Ctrl #1-7
Shift #1-7
F T X R E G Q + Ctrl/Shift combinations
This needs to be bumped again. I NEED MORE SKILL BARS!!! It's been YEARS of asking for this.
I used up all my bars. i dont have a single emote on em. Yes i could retire my Bozja/Eureka hotbar with macros n potions but nah...
I also used one for each job and other shortcuts, got one above my crossbar with CDs with an smaller additional one above that for mana potions. Role skils and macros.
It actually fills up pretty fast and idk the problem if some wanna use a 15-20.
EDIT. omg didnt see the necro lol, still holds up...
Players frequently using those things would do it back before the Glamour Dresser was added. It's the same as you mentioned when it comes to PvP skills - subsequent updates to the game have changed the need.
As someone who does a lot of hunt relays, I would love 2 more hotbars. Much easier to have the relay macros organized on hotbars for quick clicks than trying to find the right one in the macro menu, where they get somewhat mixed with each other not to mention macros for other activities.
Necro or not, this is worth discussion.
/agreed and /signed. I NEED MORE SKILL BARS!!! This needs to be constantly bumped. That we have been asking for this for YEARS is insulting to the player base.
By the way, if you don't need them or feel the need for more, this doesn't concern you nor does it effect your gameplay.
1 or 2 more would be convenient.
i have a whole hotbar full with macros. every single one of them copies the content of otherwise unused bars from base classes (yes all nine of them have a whole set of skill bars you dont need anymore as soon as you have their job).
so i kinda turn 4 hotbars into 36 hotbars. one click and i have three hotbars full with job sets. another click and the same three hotbars change to three bars full with emotes... another click and they are filled with chat macros etc....no, there arent too little hot bars
Only if all jobs also get more skills
This.
I have one hotbar I switch between in-combat and out-of-combat actions using such a macro.
I have another I switch between showing my combat classes and showing my Hand/Land classes.
Using another such macro, I switch my Fisher between rod-fishing and spear-fishing configurations.
The ability to share selected hotbars between my crafters and only between them would be nice, as they all have the same actions, but instead I have a set of macros that copies five hotbars from my BSM to all the other crafting classes. like this:/hotbar copy Blacksmith 1 Carpenter 1
/hotbar copy Blacksmith 2 Carpenter 2
/hotbar copy Blacksmith 3 Carpenter 3
/hotbar copy Blacksmith 4 Carpenter 4
/hotbar copy Blacksmith 5 Carpenter 5
/hotbar copy Blacksmith 1 Armorer 1
/hotbar copy Blacksmith 2 Armorer 2
...
more action bars for my emotes, enough to cover my screen
With my 49" ultrawide I honestly would mind 1 or 2 more.
Not having to dig threw menus would be nice.
On my main alt, I have every class except Dark Knight.
But I'd hate to clutter up my screen with 3 bars of class icons.
So instead I have Shared Hotbar 9 dedicated to classes, and on nearby shared Hotbar 10, two macros that load Shared Hotbar 9 with either Hand+Land classes or a selection of combat classes. (I use the Dress-up Raubahn minion for the combat-classes macro icon, and the Wind-up Cid minion for the Hand+Land classes macro.)
The combat classes are set up on Hotbar 3 of BLU (a class I don't use, but I could use CNJ, MAR, ARC, or any other no-longer-used base class if I wanted) and the Hand+Land clases set up on Hotbar 2 of Blue, so the two macros are:
macro 1:/hotbar copy BLU 3 share 9Macro 2:
/echo Loading BLU3: DoM/DoW <se.12>
/micon "Dress-up Raubahn" minion/hotbar copy BLU 2 share 9Classes not on those two BLU hotbars I get through the character window, but I could set up another macro for them if I wanted.
/echo Loading BLU2: DoL/DoH <se.12>
/micon "Wind-up Cid" minion
