in two weeks we will have more beastmen content added in 1.19a. Also the "collective" playerbase will not have this fight on farm in two weeks lmao not a chance in the world. We ourselves don't even have Strongholds on farm because we shot for this first. There is enough of the same content in 1.19 to last 3 months straight.

Gratz, quick question, do all people have materia slotted in all of their gear pieces?

When it comes to math, I hate it. So when MMO's become calculated I tune out. I will listen and run where people tell me to, and try not to die my best. But I will not do so much as add my damage output over a minute. I think its mostly just a dislike of math though


btw: congrats I still haven't beat batraal [= I get scared when bosses appear and freeze up

I will be adding a Materia/Gear Comp. guide to the OP tonight. Materia is definitely required for this fight to be manageable.

From what I noticed and posted in DrMog's video thread the Horns, Tail, and feet can be targeted, maybe those parts can be incapicitated as well.

they can be but in-capping horns does not change anything in the fight. have not tested the other body parts and unless it affects drop rate I doubt we will ever try it.

true but if you can cut off his tail... that picture would be priceless, Ifrit with no horns and no Tail! Just to do it and then beat him is like a "he is our b****" lol

Can't attack his tail or legs, unless the skills to incap those has changed, you can't hit them, we tried with trunksplinter II, Pounce, Skewer II, Red Lotus, etc, nada. =/

Getting 0 drops makes me appreciate the kill and drops in general so much more. I actually don't mind it all that much.

Some notes from our attempts to add.

1 Attack = ~2 damage on fully buffed doomspikes
Shepards pie+1 = 83 atk (110%)
Shepards pie+2 = 95 atk (130%)
Abs-Atk = 24 atk for 1m 11s

So with all that up Doomspike II does ~850 fully buffed, 950+ with Maim. LNC is sorta crazy now, but this fight is still about being aware of everything so gear itself or any particular class won't make you auto-win in it though obviously it does help.

Should make everyone that wanted a hard fight very happy though, now commence casual raging to get it nerfed D:

We've seen 855 dmg DSII with NQ pie or Miqotebob. Maybe it's just a gear differential.

Why would casuals care? Crafted gear with materia is superior to anything Ifrit drops. The players that enjoy hard fights will kill it anyway for the challenge and the casuals will still attempt the fight but not care either way because they can get their shinies regardless.

Considering the fact that currently atk doesn't seem to affect weaponskills much or at all the ifrit dps weapons are better than putting materia into crafting weapons.

Fair enough, but the difference isn't going to warrant casuals to care in the first place.

How about you get the casual vs hardcore speak out of my thread and stop derailing it. Ifrit will be casual friendly content after it's nerfed when the next content tier is introduced and then they will care a whole lot. At the moment seeing the base damage from his weapons, they are still going to be better than any forbidden crafted weapons in the game currently.

Kill#4 - no dorps......such a tease Ifrit :(

I'm proud of my LS for accomplishing this so quickly. I'm sure a lot of people will be proud of the win in the future under different circumstances. It's also GREAT Final Fantasy content! Plus, the gear itself will have any number of uses.

There's no sense in trying to make the Ifrit battle seems less significant. SE deserves some praise for this one.

what are the stats for ifrits harpoon and bow?

is this the same "Blue Gartr" from XI? (thought they were on palamecia). Eithe way grats and thx for the guide!

Haven't had a bow drop yet, but Ifrit's Harpoon has 151 base damage, and then +20 atk, +15 fire resist, and additional effect: fire damage, like all of the other melee weapons.

So for a game where people have been 50 for months on end, having the best gear available, it still took about a week to kill the first real boss?

Either the boss requires actual strategy or FFXIV players are slow o.O

Also, I didn't read much of the thread, but something about that the people who defeated Iflirt needed a third-party program to do so?

The skill requirement is definitely way higher than past stuff but don't forget this patch effectively gear-wiped everyone. This isn't just a week of hardcore Ifrit attempts this is also a week of hardcore spiritbond materia farming.

With exp rates as they are currently it'd take about a day to do all that o.O Including the gathering and what not. Like I said, maybe FFXIV LSs aren't as hardcore as I'm used to.

you must be new here.

It was 5 days, 20 hours a day spread over roughly 150 attempts. Yes the skill requirement on the first major boss is this high and yes materia farming is required and No what people were talking about was a damage parser to compare dps.

The spiritbond grind is neverending because it's a dice roll. You can't get good roll Tier IV's of everything you need for everyone in 1 day. You have to bond over and over and over again amassing huge piles of junk materia to get to what you want.

BG that was on palamecia was neobg. We are a collection of the original RoTZ FFXI BG + Vanilla WoW BG. Any of the nostalgic dynamis/sky/wyrm videos everyone came to love and adore sprouted from this groups teats.

HP/MP materia are important for the fight and our core kill group wasn't even fully slotted. You will not win on materia alone because the fight has a high skill ceiling. It is get out of the fire, get correct positioning and dps balls to the wall 24/7 or you will lose. A single death means curtains on any attempt pre 10%. If it's a healer the group will sponge up MP. If it's a DPS Ifrit's auto-regen will negate dps progression. Snowball effect at it's finest.
