Be The Very Best! Become THE TANK!

I've run into this situation a lot recently as I've been leveling rogue-now-ninja. A little background, I main tank jobs (WAR/DRK at 60) but I have a DRG at 60 as well so I know how to tank, dps, etc.

I've been meticulous about making HQ gear for myself as I level. I've been using B4B, raging strikes, internal release for cross class skills. And in low level dungeons even though I'm not playing my 50+ jobs I've still been ripping hate from the tanks.

Politely asking them to pull with shield lob and use flash more hasn't worked. There were Toto-Rok runs where I was afraid to use B4B because I knew I'd be tanking. I'd have hate on one, the healer would have another, and the tank would ONLY have the one he was targeting.

So it's not just 50+ dps. If you are better geared than your tank and you know what you are doing (and he doesn't)...you're gonna carry that load.

Or warn that tank and if he doesn't improve, kick him. It's the only way they'll learn they doin' it wrong.

I got satasha in leveling roulette the other day with a sprout tank using a level 5 axe. :( he did not say anything on entry (other dps and I said hi) and did not aoe - face pulled only. Both of us bards worked out a nice unspoken deal where we dotted everything, left the tank to his target, and we pulled things off the sprout cnj. I don't think it was possible for me not to rip hate (even without dps CDs, I tanked all bosses).

Maybe he would have taken advice? I never offer it since I don't want people getting grumpy, though I'd happily provide tips if asked. Tanks that don't aoe seem fairly common, and I've seen some that only use their final skill in their combo - rage of halone spam with no blade leadups.

If he had a level 5 weapon you two never had a choice. You were tanking whether you wanted to or not lol.

This dungeon falls in an awkward, adolescent level range before tanks get their enmity stance but after DPS get access to a fancy skill.

I had hoped by now DPS tanking should be a given for this dungeon. However, all dungeons prior to Totorak are cream puff difficulty with curespam healers; anyone can realistically tank.

Toto-Rok runs have been compounded recently by a lot of new or sprout tanks who really don't know what they're doing. I'm glad we got my friend to 28 and I never have to run Toto-Rok outside of roulette ever again.

Please....tanks....stop face pulling....you got a ranged attack for a reason...

PLD gets wrecked on low-level dungeons. This is probably why they are always the type to mark targets.

WAR can just sit back and spam their cone AoE.

I guess you could say WAR is

exceedingly well-equipped to handle the situation

at lower levels.
