You should have met the PLD I met in titan NORMAL. She only did auto-attacks..

I had an almost identical run where I was healer and the NIN was PLD main. The new PLD didn't use shield lob though, he just body pulled. He did "attempt" to use flash, but he would cast it before engaging standing like 30 feet from the mobs despite repeated explanations from all 3 other people. NIN and BRD in that party kept me safe too ^^
I wasn't Tanking this one, but my God this other tank was just the worst. We were doing A1 and one of my friends was a tank and in the beginning he asked mt or ot? The other tank didn't respond so my friend said he'll be mt. The fight starts and the other tank wasn't picking up the adds and after we wiped THEN he decided to start talking and throughout the run he was continually bashing my friend for not knowing how to tank. I mean really!? 2nd try he tried aggro'ing Faust and getting the adds at the same time. It was a mess. We wiped of course he still kept berating my friend. We eventually made it to the Oppressor and he started nagging the DPS cause we weren't DPS'ing fast enough. Seriously what should've been a smooth run he turned it into a nightmare. I'm not sure if the guy had mental problems or was just too full of himself to own up to his mistakes. Seriously projecting your insecurities and shortcomings onto others just cause you suck are imo the worst kind of players.
I always get a little irked when the DPS decides it's their job to pull ahead of me. Especially when I'm taking the time to explain how I'm going to pull, and how we could get through certain mechanics. I don't mind groups that have trouble with mechanics. I don't mind groups that don't know what they're doing. We all started somewhere. But when players come into a dungeon with an arrogant, haughty, know-it-all attitude, I find it incredibly off-putting.
I've played most dungeons enough to where I've established rhythms for them that can get the clear in 15-25 minutes, if they'll just let me control the pacing.
Fortunately, though, most groups let me do exactly that, and are actually appreciative of my explanations and descriptions. I've had a great deal more positive experiences in this game than negatives, and would gladly take the community here over WoW or LoL or any other online game any day.
Going through Neverreap, got to the very last trash mob pull in the entire dungeon. By the time I'd died, I'd blown literally every CD in DRK's kit, including Living Dead, macro and all. Not only did the healer accuse me of not popping a single defensive cooldown for the entire fight but the bard also commented that I might need a macro for Living Dead.
Started a second character leveling PLD. I died on every boss, I died against the trash mobs, with Convalescence, Rampart, Foresight - hell, sometimes I died with all of them up. The MNK attacks whatever the hell he feels like at the time and I'm having to constantly change to stay on his target. He's made it his life's mission to use Snap Punch standing next to me, so questionable is the behavior of this lv.52 MNK. Against the final boss, he seemed determined to shove the poison pool six feet up Aiatar's ass. The MNK has the audacity to declare that the only reason we got anywhere at all was because of the mad heals.
I did a expert roulette where our scholar refused to use protect and told me to do it instead.
That should be sufficient.
I had a BLM in my EX Roulette a few days ago that refused to cast Fire II / Flare in a trash pull of 10 mobs. It took like 7 minutes to clear it and all of my WHM friends MP to survive lol.
I got told to wear full fending gear in Vault because I needed the Parry for the last boss... who was all magic.
generally it comes in the form of an awful 2nd tank
Yeah, pox, my bad. I haven't been back there much since then. I saw a lot of bad attitudes in t4, directed at a lot of different people. Just not a happy place.
I remeber early on I was healing it. I got aggro on something that killed me. Tank left it on me and let me die. Said, don't raise them, I've been fighting their med II spam the whole time! I hadn't cast med II once, and only regen at the start of a phase once they grab aggro.
Not really a bad experience but more kind of funny. I was tanking Sohm Al as DRK and i had a MNK tell me to stop dodging AOEs because he had to move to follow the mob he was on. It was a rather big pull so AOEs were flying everywhere. I actually lol'd. Sorry you just can't sit there and button mash bro. Lol
>.<
Brayflox.
Fresh lv 30ish pld undergeared up against a synced blm and smn. Only dungeon I have ever rage quit out of embarrassment. A striking dummy could have held aggro better than me. Took me well over a month to work up the courage to hit the df button again.
As a tank for many years I have been thru it all. Tanks always get the crap of the group If dps jumps the gun and pulls and dies its the tanks fault? what really your the idiot that ran ahead and pulled the room. healer starts to dps and forgets to heal tank dies then the healer then Dps. Healer turns and says wow man you really need better gear. So it seems every-time anyone messes up in a group its the tanks fault. I did not mind taking all the hate from the enemies but when the hell did a tank have to take all the crap from its own party due to the fact the dont know how to play.
Im looking forward to starting on drk. Got war and pld to 60 already... can't wait to crack into haukke manor again.
My worst tanking experience was when I did Haukke Manor for the first time. I didn't know about the job quests at the time so I was a level 30 Gladiator and the BLM in the group kept going on and on about why I wasn't already a Paladin. I didn't even know you could do that! I thought that It was a job I'd need to unlock and level up, like in FFXI.
In hindsight, he had every right to wonder just that, but he didn't have to be rude about it. :(
The BLM eventually left and was replaced by another job, don't remember which, and we were able to clear with little issue, afterwards I did the Paladin Job quest and the rest is history.
The experience still has an impact on me because I remember feeling foolish and lost.
My worst tanking experience and one of the ones to have soured my views on the player base the most is one of my first ones. While tanking Amdapor keep the Party decided that I wasn't going fast enough, they would not let me generate aggro and keep pulling ahead of time. By the first boss they decided They didn't need a tank to help them and started the trash talk at which point I refused to help them. They kept going while throwing insults when they could which I can't provide since I do not think it is allowed on the forums but it ranged from Homophobic slurs to heavy cursing. Until on the last boss they decided they did infact need a tank to help them and decided to ask me to tank that is ask me to tank by trying to insult me into tanking. I call them the F word once and I get a warning and GM visit. GG.
This was what I had to deal with in a dungeon when I was just starting out as a Gladiator. My first time in a dungeon, and I was pulling each set of mobs. Apparently that wasn't enough, because even though I was running to the next set, the healer and one of the DPS would hit sprint, run past me, and start attacking enemies. I eventually asked them if I can get the pulls since I was the tank, and said I was still learning. They said "Well, then you can learn to get aggro off of us, because that's more difficult than sustaining aggro." and kept going. No. Just no. Then eventually I just left. I did recently have a run on Marauder and the healer hinted to me that they wanted bigger pulls by running ahead, so I obliged. But we worked well together, and I didn't get offended, and they weren't rude about it.
Or, he was being a diva-princess and raging at something that sure doesn't seem like a big deal. It looks like it was a simple statement to me, yet he rage quit at the last boss because he couldn't handle it.
Did they call the OP horrible names? Were they shouting at him? Were they cussing at him? Were they using derogatory slurs? If the answer is no, and all the healer said was that generic comment, then I would say OP was being very dramatic by rage quitting.
