They didn't change the rules though. It's always been the same. They just clarified the rules.

Very bizarre voting rules, it should just be pick one and vote for it >.> Or vote for what you like...
Well, it is and always has been just pick one and vote for it (or actually pick one for each gender and vote for it). The rule clarification only applies to people who were breaking the rules in the first place, trying to vote multiple times. SE specified how they'll treat these invalid votes. Anyone who followed the rules to begin with isn't affected.
While they did specify that, they should have built a system to make it so you can't vote for more than one. A polling system as I said earlier, hell they don't even have to create, there are plenty of sites that offer that but I'm assuming they don't want it to be something they can't control, but even then creating a poll for the Lodestone/Forum would be relatively simple.
That's really my most major gripe about how they handled this.
Seriously, setting up a poll would have solved so many problems. No convoluted rules, just one and done.
Wouldn't it have been better just to tell people to "Only Vote for One male and One Female style. Multiple votes in one category will not be counted properly. if you Liked multiple entries in one category, only your last vote will count for the tally".
I just think it needs more emphasis on basically only "Liking" one entry male and one for female. The wording is what's confusing people.
Heh, I hope they realize that if the one that has the most likes doesn't win..people gonna riot on here lol. ^^;
Well, I origenally picked 3 per catagory, my mistake as I read the rules but not closely so I missed the highlighted parts.
BUT! I went back and fixed it. My favorite in each still got my vote but I redid my votes to to the 3rd and final clicks being my 3rd favorates. So now my votes count on my #1 pick.
Why is this such an issue? If ya messed up, fix it. The rules arent complicated you just need to spend like 6 seconds to redo the votes. not hard.
It's easy enough for everyone who reads this thread or other similar mentions and realizes that there's something to change. The concern is about how many other people voted multiple times but then never came back to see that there's an issue with it. If there's enough such people to have skewed the results, then the wrong hairstyles might end up being chosen to be included in the game.
(Personally, I'm not too concerned, but that has a lot to do with the fact that the ones I most wanted to win didn't even make it to the finalist list.)
This is really unacceptable. Now my vote, and I'm sure many others, is not for the style I would have chosen had the rules been made clear from the start. At the very least a new Lodestone post should have been made. Making a phantom edit to the rules halfway through the contest, and not making the rule change clear, is unfair to everyone that voted early.
I don't expect the contest to be redone, but I'm extremely disappointed with how this was handled.
It's already too late mostly,
They just announced the results not too long ago. Instead of being 10 runners from each category, it became 10 from a mix of both categories . And we have winners whose actual likes in the competition are lesser than some of the non-winners. Also, one of the entry is in clear violation of the submission rules, but yet no actions were taken..
Sad day indeed
Why can we just add Polling ? Like any normal vBulletin boards?
The worst part is that they have a poll system and they didn't want to use it.

First off: Grammar! Your first sentence means the opposite of what you wanted to say. :P
My first thought when I saw how they were handling the votes was the same as yours, however, I'm fairly certain that vBulletin's poll system limits the number of options your poll can have.
The irony of this competition is that you have clear runner ups who actually had less likes/votes than others that were not in the runner up list.
The Nobles Barding does not even cost them anything, if anything, it would have been good will to give them to all the nominees, after all, they were selected from hundreds of entries.
Their actions only works to prevent other players from wanting to contribute further on any future events
