How about a Linkshell Mail service, I know SE are thinking of implementing a mail service into game but I mean a way to send 1 mail to all members of the linkshell instead of having to copy/paste names into several mails.

bump for more love >.>
Anyone know the proper tag for Linkshell related stuff so i can remake this thread with proper taggage?
I'm not sure how but I think you can add tags to an existing thread, but I doubt you can add to the title this way.
There a button to Add / Edit Tags at the bottom of the page when you're checking a thread. Also there's no need to add the tag to the title.
You can check the current dev tags there:

Unfortunately there's currently no dev tag related linkshell.
list of Tags: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forums/138 (its the in-development forum)
not sure which will fit, just put "linkshell" its massive in the cloud lol
i see alot of kicking promoting from anywhere/ what about kicking members not online that quit the game and never retired from linkshell.
Agree with all of the ideas in the OP. Good stuff!
I would expand on this by adding a few options like the chat in FFXIQuote:
The ability to talk to multiple LSs with out having to change my current one. (maybe by doing /l#?)
/linkshell# or /L# ---- Changes current ls to that ls
/linkshell# or /L# + message ----- sends message to the indicated linkshell.
This enable response to a message without going through the menu.
A bump before I head to bed.
the ability to use mulitple ls's is a good idea however i foresee issues when it comes to end game,
if SE implement an arena like dyna into FFXIV its simply not going to be practical (esp when server population grows ) to have 5 different ls chats going on.
I know it is currently possible to turn off selected ls chat from being displayed but because you are still visable in the ls ppls still try and talk to you,
I think you should only be visable as online under your selected Active LS and maybe a /sea all function for all other game player!
It's already a problem...
Contested mobs are a great example...
one person is in your ls but also in another... your main ls says we're heading to y to kill x, guess what lil joe says, theyre going to kill x! and magically they show up.
I do agree it's good in the scheme of things but ppl are schmucks, can't really hope it works out well =(
Yea I see where that can be a problem. I might remove that from the list then and suggest using the FFXI LS system where you have to be active to view and talk in LS chat. I guess its up to EG shells to regulate their members and be all mean with the "Your only allowed to be in our LS ONLY!!!!" rules
lsmessage and the remote things are great,
however if your in a fairly active Ls like elite and a tight-knit group all members should be on your social list
and the social list takes most of your invite/seeing whos online/talking to members directly a function like the one you describe takes the social thing to be worthless... if your real life friends are not in your shell then sketchy (45/57 active members in Elite is on my social list)
dont think general/master of a shell should be passed unless they leaving the game and atm if your leader is seeking to leave might as well start over or join a already active shell.
takes me 5 secs already to see what rank who is by checking pro or lodestone ~.~ ingame would just make things laggy. then check social list to see if there on.
Loyalty ? ? ? why have more then one shell, If you have a shell that can do everything from sping to End of content for you having multiple ls just causes more drama.
Maybe because im a leader in Elite I onry rock one crest. understanding everyone whos not in my shell is on my social list.
Maybe a function to have everyone in your shell on your social list.
Hiding your online is kinda meh, if you dont want to be talked to just go to a special place and dont respond.
and making the social list available for like 500 people vice 200 because maybe one day ill have everyone on the server on the social list as long as they not on my blist.
Not all of my suggestions are based on the here and now situation and state of the game, months/years down the line a LS leader might say goodbye to his long time LS and the members want to continue, instead of remaking and such he could pass lead to one of his second in commands.
Not every linkshell is tight knit like that so using your own LS as an example is not going debunk the suggestion or make it lose merit. My LS is a bunch of nice, cool, mature and chill people with a few bad apples who ofcourse ragequit the game. Now when I check my LS list I have to scroll through 10+ ppl just to see a few ppl that are online.
Same concept in XI, the elitest only want you to have one shell, but you have friends with social shells or random shells just for the lulz with a name you just can't help but join. I am in favor of the latter, I have plenty of friends in XIV that has been growing since closed beta, I currently run my shell and I have pearl to my friend's LS and they have one to mine. Loyalty has nothing to do with this as I am not a douche and i don't condone any douche-baggery in my LS so if we do take part in end-game activities and they tell me another shell they are in is going to kill xyz NM and suggests we beat them to it, he'll find himself 1 less linkshell on his person.
These suggestions are for your average joe LSs and are only intended to help even without a way to communicate with multiple LSs people will still have more then one on them unless SE removes that feature. If you are having any lag issues with the game as it is now I would suggest a small upgrade instead of downing suggestions that wouldn't even add any stress on the network or computer no more then a 8year+ old game did back then.
I rarely look at the Ls list, I say hi in chat, the people on say hi back.
@ the one shell, As in Ls elite you can have more then one shell as long as your not a lead, but i do not see the point in having more then one shell anyways. If i wanted to gather people, whether their in elite or in another shell, i'd just check my social list see whos on which is sorted by whos online first then those offline.
Say their was a dynamis like event, I would rather see whos online that i already know is good at what they do then find a rag tag team of people who are content hogs that will take me years to get the gear i wanted in the first place.
One crest, many friends, No need for beef, Just check your social list it will solve many of your issues, like having one shell, one ls chat, one party chat, ability to see people online not in your current shell selected that you are friends with.
but seriously you could rock a crest armyofone, and still get all you need in the game through social list .
I suggest making a bigger pool of people on your social list keith if you want to downsize all your problems now. instead of waiting for somewhat useful adds, even though most could be solved by adding people to your social list
The only useful ls adds would be the Lsmessage and the remote boot.
please please please please.
I honestly thought that the Linkshell aspect of FFXIV was no where near close to being ready during the last phase of the beta. Then the system went live with no changes. Six months later Im not convinced this is the final design for the linkshell and that SE is more concerned about the "Company" system.
Thats a personal opinion
The social list I use for friends that are not in my LS and friends that I added prior to them joining my LS. In XI I had to constantly sort through my friend's list because the 100-200(can't remember how much cap was) was constantly full. I make ALOT of friends when I play games like these and I should NOT have to use my social list to tell if my Linkshell members are online. It makes no since, why even have a Linkshell list if your gonna add everyone to your social?
I never liked the fact that you couldn't chat on more than one LS at a time in FFXI. I like that you can in FFXIV, although I would like shortcuts like /l1, /l2, etc... In particular I always thought it would be nice to view the chat from my main LS (which was a largely social LS) while doing something with an event LS. So, FFXIV has made progress in LS functionality at least in this one aspect. Now we just need events so there are reasons for event LSes.
Another bump before bed.
I don't want that feature at all. Noone should be able to observe my login behavior besides SE in this case.Quote:
An option to show last login time/date of members.
Rest sounds nice though =)
Just a point about your offline messages idea. Someone mentioned that it wasn't necessary. I'm inclined to agree only because if this game had a proper mail system, it'd be a non-issue since that's what a mail system allows one to do (and not just to LS people but to anyone). It would be redundant at that point to have it in the LS also. Otherwise everything you've mentioned is sensible.
yes its all opinionated,
30 ls chats vs one social list(cap is 200)
There is a delete function; therfore, if someone has not spoken to you in forever you can remove them from list.
if you need 200 or more then you may have an issue with depenecy.
If you add all your friends in game you should have <200 with current server population.
If you need more then one Ls, You have to ask yourself why does my other Ls cannot meet my needs?
If you need/discard another friend can you add/remove another person to social list ? yes and remotely add/remove as well.
Yea that one came from the old thread I brought over from site suggestions section, i just copied all suggestions and added them to this thread to pick up where it left off.
I don't mind it but its not needed.
There is still NO point in having to work-around a feature that should have been in the game already therefor I stick by my suggestions and if you object then so be it but please don't come in my thread suggesting that we all use alternative means instead of pushing for what belongs in the game.
Because it works for YOU does not mean it will work for everyone else.
Ability to put a welcome/Linkshell message. (this is for LS leader and/or 2nd highest rank from LS)
Ability to kick members even they are not online or not near you.
Ability to adjust rank (make you a pearlholder, etc.) even they are not online or not near you.
And add more feature to the linkshell so they can be more organize.
added my 2 cents on your moved one. :)
