I'm just going to post here and not hold my breath, that these items are never going to be added. So I will move along.
I am willing to pay for it!!! I want that hanbok so bad!!!! really like that it reminds me of "Kisaeng" style of dress too. so sexy my kitty needs it!!
Reading anything in the voice of the whining five year old will have a similar effect, I don't doubt that some people feel entitled, but the original post does not read to me like: "I DESERVE TO HAVE THIS FOR (insert) REASONS!" It reads like someone who is asking for something to be made available to them, and there is nothing wrong with asking.
I disagree with country locked items in general.
I also see you're editing in responses to posts after yours, apologies if I don't go back and read for any new response to mine.
It's ok, I didnt want to make a ton of post to reply (its probably bad form on my end)
On my topic, Keep in mind i made no mention of a "Whining" 5 year old. I just said a 5 year old "speaking" to you.
Secondly, the OP:
Korean New Year Exclusive Gear
I'm so incredibly jealous of the dress. I want it so badly. Please, SE, make it availible outside of Korea, as well. Its so pretty! It might actually cause me to cave in and use the cash shop for glamor gear.
This is no simple request. It seems like it, but this is hardly a way to seriously ask for anything.
Why should you "ask" for it? It should not have been exclusive in the first place. Why should I request a fix to something that should not have been a problem in the first place?
Honestly, I don't reward stupidity. When you restrict content you just waste development time. That time could of been made spent making a new outfit for EVERYONE.
That is why I'm complaining. Even though I want the item, this thread isn't about asking for it. It never was. The thread is about exclusive content being a bad thing.
If you can't discuss the topic, then why are you in the thread?
OMG they got a hanbok.
Seriously wish we could get that in the states.
I suspect it was made for the Korean version out of political issues... Korea used to have a law against anything that resembled Japanese culture... Because that's the only reason I can think of why the Koreans might luck out and get a different design from everyone else.
It is a modification of the 선비 (Soen-Bi or Scholar) robes from the 조선 (Chosun) dynasty period (which ended when Japan occupied the country from 1905-45). It is an interesting choice for SE because it is a very nationalistic outfit than in some ways kind of solidifies anti-Japanese iconography.
People tend to ask for things they want badly, I agree though that being jealous is probably not the best claim though. Though I don't think that makes them entitled, most people don't even know what constitutes as jealousy (resentment, etc) and throw it around willy-nilly.
I don't believe that people resent Korean players for getting these, they just want them as well.
We don't know if it is 100%, forever until the end of time exclusive. When I said it might come, you said "dont know if it will come and I dont care, NEED NAO for Everyone!!11!" You are jumping the gun and hopping all the way to "I need to Demand" (which is kind of a form of stupidity in any discourse). The OP title is about the Gear. It, rather hurriedly, asked for the ability to own said items. This thread turned into the White Knighting of "the greater good" that could be right around the corner for us all for all we know.
I agree with you. I don't perceive any resentment here. Just maybe at the idea that this will be exclusive forever. But that hatred is being lobbied at a baseless idea. So far, but correct me if im wrong, the only exclusive items have been the 1.0 stuff. The plush minions are cash and maybe the Twitch/Livestream MogSuits?
Those are probably exclusive. And I wouldn't fault anyone for being angry at that, mostly because it has come and gone and remained exclusive. This hasn't even arrived in the bloody game yet.
I didn't read through the whole thread, so oops if this was already mentioned, but will the Korean servers be part of the JP/NA/EU servers? If it were to share the servers, then I would also be worried about the introduction of exclusive things.
Example: Running a raid/dungeon and in comes a player wearing the hanbok = potential positive/negative target that the others will focus, knowing it's an exclusive item.
If the Korean servers are separate, like how the Chinese servers have their own, then it would deem understandable and acceptable. The rest of the world is full aware of Korean culture and are fans of their entertainment media, I don't see why they would exclude this from the JP/NA/EU if Korean servers and the rest would be playing together.
Fair enough, if it isn't forever exclusive there is no problem. But I still think people should voice their interest, it doesn't hurt to let SE know that there is an audience for these items elsewhere. As for the Moogle Outfit, I'd think the promotion would roll around again during the next fanfest, which was the event it was attached to.
No, just like the Chinese the Koreans will have their own servers seperate from the rest of the world due to the Korean gov't strict rule(s) regarding games. SE not only had to localize it, but also had to make sure the Korean version follows the gov't law. You should look up Korean gov't stance on gaming, especially mmorpg it's quite interesting.
On the top of my head you need to use your Korean-issued SSN# to register to play an mmorpg and if you're underage you get a "curfew" meaning the game shuts down at a certain time. Period. Unless you're an adult. There's actually a (black) market for adult SSN# ...
If this is their exclusive, I want an exclusive for just American Players...
I want iiiiiit. ;(
the male top looks nice @_@
Looks like some people can't stand when others get their day to be a special snowflake. Folks, it's a celebration to announce the release of it in Korea, can at least let them enjoy it.
Eh, it's nice, but I don't care too much. Probably genderlocked and that frustrates me because I like both sets.
I can only barely see how the girl's outfit resembles anything close to a hanbok, like maybe a heavily modified modern one, but w/e.
The use of the word "entitled" has been beaten into the ground to mean nothing. You're entitled if you want things, you're entitled if you don't, you're entitled if you think there should be a compromise. It's used to devalue your opponents argument despite meaning nothing "You're... (Looks up negative sounding political buzzword) entitled!". I wish folks would stop using it and focused on maybe why it's bad to want things or maybe why it's fine to want them. For example "This is SE's gift to Korean players for finally being able to play the game, maybe they'd like to keep it unique to them. It'd be nice to have it, but this is SE's apology which is devalued if the rest of the world gets it." or "It'd be nice to have the item because it looks incredibly nice and I'm disappointed with the current selection of glamours in the game. Sure it'd be nice for the Koreans to have a thank you gift, but it'd also be nice to at least get something that suits (x's personal aesthetic tastes) to match it" Note how both things can be said without bringing up that overused word.
I would totally throw money at the cash shop for that male outfit.
If the event is to be exclusive to Koreans, I would greatly appreciate SE considering allowing players in other countries and territories to buy the event items via the cash shop or trade via tokens from that Female NPC in Revenant's Toll (the one we the weapons and stuff from, not the one we trade tomestones for armor and accessories).
And to be clear, I feel that if this happens, that it should work the same in all directions - i.e. If a certain country/region gets and exclusive event that gives special items, put that event's items on the cash shop. (e.g. If US players got an exclusive Thanksgiving event with event items for whatever reason, make that event's item available to all players via the cash shop.)
I think I'm a little bit jelly of those too, they're so gorgeous! xD
But in all honesty though, if they're on a different server system than us, like the Chinese are, and if they have strict laws in regards to online gaming (as a couple posts in this thread seem to indicate) then these probably aren't going to ever be released to us as is. The things we saw in those pics from the Chinese servers were never brought over. I'm also of the opinion that if one group of players have exclusive things that another group will never have access to, then we should all have exclusives, and as much as I'd like to have that dress myself that also includes things that might have been altered from the original game version during the port to Korea. If there's any nice thing we have access to in game that might have been redesigned or taken out of their game for whatever reason, then I say let them have their own pretty outfits.
I don't think anyone is being entitled by just asking though. And maybe there's a chance we could get an altered version sometime in the future.
Do our servers have something the Chinese and Korean ones don't? Were the FFXI/FFXIII/DQX events exclusive to EU/NA/JP servers? EDIT: I am seeing the FFXIII gear in some of the screenshots here so that rules out one exclusive
It does feel unfair though I suppose the tradeoff is we're not bogged down with microtransactions that limit gameplay (save for retainers but that's a thread all its own) or censored into oblivion.
To be fair, that is a tad different. Not everyone on NA/EU/JP have Legacy Chocobos. I assume the Korean exclusive would be available to everyone in Korea. So it's comparable in some ways, but not a perfect fit (since it's not exclusive due to country lock and for completely different reasons).
I would be interested to hear though if there are things that we have (that are available to everyone in NA/EU/JP), that aren't available to them. Regardless, I think that country locked items are kind of lame no matter who it favors, that includes any such items that we might have that they would not.
Well call me jealous, I want that dress! >.<
I like pixelated clothes.
These are pretty pixelated clothes.
I see no problem in asking for said pretty pixelated clothes.
(Doesn't mean we'll get it, but asking nicely does no harm. :))
it's pretty cool but i dont mind exclusives that i might never actually get myself. i'm ok with that.
What a beautiful hanbok for women, want! But only in dreams...
This is meant as a special thank you to Korean players for supporting SE in their time of need. If SE lets everyone have it, it's a slap in the face to Korean players and they'll never be able to trust Yoshi again.
