Astrologian IMO

A jack of all trades healer will never have a place in the raid. Ever. You bring another DPS if you can afford to be light on heals.

Scholar is already the Jack of all trades. Astrologian is just a dumbed down version of it.

It really sucks. I am another one that was REALLY looking forward to Astrologian.
Heck, I love how the class looks and plays...
I am trying to decide whether I want to stick with it to 60, or level another healer now.
I have scholar at 55, Astrologian at 41 and am considering trying white mage for a while.
AST are just so much more fun than Sch and Whm to me :(.

I just dunno if I am willing to just trust that they will get them up there with Whm and Sch.
Kinda sucks if one healer will just always be inherently worse and a burden in comparison to your team.....

Exactly this.

It's a shame that we no longer have cross class healer gear at the high end because it would have been nice to test AST and SCH side by side as we progressed. As it stands, I'm definitely not picking up AST gear when I need to choose between it and SCH.

I agree... i'm obviously spending my eso on sch.. but even once AST has been buffed it'll be such a headache to regear for that class...

Yeah, I mean, we have the accessories, but ALL of the other pieces will be a pain until they increase the Eso drop rate.

If you enjoy playing with it, then play.
Of course, the job is quite limited compared to WHM and SCH but it will receive some love from SE soon, so don't give up on it.

If you do your role well then that will not be an issue. If they force you to change job based on healer forum drama then maybe the static is not meant for you. I would find friends that do not try to force you to change jobs if you do not want. I see statics recruiting on balmung chatter all the time for white/astro in case someone has the mind to think that astrologians are not wanted.

Its not a "healer forum drama" its the obvious fact that AST is INDEED weaker.
How can you be so blind?

Actually I understand the white mage and scholare are stronger in there respective fields. My only beef is people say astrologian is so weak that the job is next to useless that is my issue when it is not the case. Yes we need some more changes and they will come. I just wish people would stop trying to outright falsify that the astrologian cannot do the job and do it well enough to hold its own.

Most of the players agree that AST can do the content, but they have way too much trouble doing so, compared to his fellow healers.
Its not useless, it is just weak.
And as a player who loves AST i'm really looking forward to the changes and i hope they'll worth the wait.

No one ever said astrologian is useless by itself. However when compared to other two healer, they are pretty useless(a.k.a no being used/wanted/respected/brought into savage), given that there are only room for two healers.


Something that i feared will happen to astrologian is already happening, that everyone, healer or not, has the opinion that Astrologian is utter trash.
The other night i was helping a friend run Sohm Al, on the T-Rex boss i informed the one of the dps that its okay for him to take some aoe damage, that i wont let him die. His response was "That might not be the case(keeping him alive) with an AST." I got quite bitter, bitter at SE for dumping AST into such trash pile that even in a level 53 dungeon I was called an incapable healer (I did not let anyone die in that Sohm Al run). I imagine even after buffs and fixes, it will take quite a while to change community's opinion about Astrologian.

The only thing I am bitter is the bad word that people themselves are spreading. Astrologian should never have an issue in itleast dungeons if the person playing the job is even half way decent. The White mage/scholar duo is more popular because it is something people are comfortable with from ARR days and provide more wiggle room for error. Astro does have less error correcting abilities which is what cooldowns are generally for which I hope we get cooldown revamps to two of our abilities.

I guess being in a static with my real life family does provide me some shelter against the preferred team that people want of white mage and scholar but we have gotten A1 Savage down to 20% last raid night and I am 100% sure we would have won by now if not for us only raiding 5-6 hours a week from limited schedule.

Just ignore Vlady he just an annoyance with no meaning........ But on my server in PF all healers slots are only for WHM/SCH and it is spreading fast....u would have the odd few with any healer but majority do not want an AST.... which is causing an issue.... So i have to ask my fc to do things on my AST because of this,,,,, which is depressing... and i love this job sooo much

Just ignore Yhisa or we can go down her road of white mage and scholar getting their job defining strengths pretty much neutered. Maybe take the initiative and form your own party? Sometimes leading can change more then following and coming on a thread demanding all jobs you dont play be nerfed.

Vlad, the fact that you have not even killed A1 savage down on ast is not helping your case. It's week 3. Lol.6 hours is plenty of raiding. You have put aprox 18 hours onto the first boss.

I specifically said in the OP that AST can run 90% of the content without issue... this includes (ex primals, dungeons and normal ALEX). I think AST in savage is where the major drawbacks of the class are magnified. NO ONE on this thread is criticising AST unjustly for the sake of spreading hate.

Posting from the point of view of a DPS. You don't need to heal to understand how bad asts are performing. They show up in my groups and I have to deal with them as well. The job is trash in its current state.SE owes them a fix now, not in 3.1.

Well, technically you don't need a lv 60 job to understand its issues, as a healer i don't need to have a lv 60 DPS to understand their issues as well.
And if you pay attention, Kayleen and Derek know each other so obviously Derek knows a bunch of the healers job thanks to his friend, just like i know a bunch of the DPSs job thanks to my friend.

A1S p1 is easily solo healed by sch/whm and can be done on AST with no room for error (and the occasional death). Inform yourself next time before trying to be a smartass. :)

*edit* Also id like to point out that the reason we would solo heal p1 in the earlier weeks is because of the enrage timer and tight dps check.

In the early weeks of A1 savage, it was very common to have your white mage solo heal pre-split, while your scholar just dpsed. You pretty much needed sub 60% before split to have a hope.

Astro's do enough damage, if they let the SCH solo heal, however it's really taxing on their mana heading into the heal check part of the fight.

White Mages and Scholars can both solo heal phase 1 blindfolded, with one of their hands tied behind their back.

A1S was difficult to heal 3 weeks ago. Players have gotten 3 weeks worth of upgrades.

Naturally, the content is now a joke.

I do not believe that was the purpose of my response. Considering less then 1% of the entire playerbase saw the high end raids when it was relevant I would not call it a joke or it would be a tad bid higher.
