They've already gone the greedy route and changed it so you can no longer get past holiday gear for gil. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to sell effectively one-time-use housing items on the mogstation. It would be right in keeping with shady f2p profit strategies in a p2p mmo.

The dress/swimsuit this year is cute at least. :S Have such a hard time getting excited for it with the frustration of the mogstation, though...

Come on, folks, 100% of returning 2.0 events have had the old clothing return in the cash shop.
At least we're getting more than a housing decoration and maybe an accessory this time.

Before last year's halloween event, 100% of returning events had old clothing available for gil.

Items that were old seasonal event gear in FF XIV, but new seasonal event gear in ARR, were sold in the vend shop.
The Yukata was the last of "old in XIV but still new in ARR"

I think it would be better to just don't bring back the old seasonal items again, not in vend shop and not in cash shop.
The people who didn't want to touch 1.x with a tweezers had their chance with ARR already.

Because I feel like not even SE would penalize players for having enough sense to not play 1.0.

Yes, it did. I was able to buy them for some new alts back then that I hadn't gotten things on in the previous moonfire faire.

There's no way to pretend SE didn't just completely rip out content contrary to a paradigm they had already established just so they could weasel in F2P-style profits in their sub game.

SE can make them sellable in the MB. So those who did the event can buy it from the calamity NPC and resell it to those who missed the event for some thousend gil extra (see dream set and usagi kabuto).

No cash shop, no reused rewards in the vend shop and the ingame market flourish.

Once I've got these, it's goodbye grossly overpriced Thavnairian bottoms! You will no longer be needed!

Guys, cash shop is a necessity. How else is SE going to afford another 1-2 years of development time for Final Fantasy 15? Do you expect them to buy another foreign game studio, like Eidos, to fund their reckless domestic game making? 10+ years of Kingdom Hearts 3 development does not come cheap.

Every $5 yukata you purchase helps fund another millisecond of their next FF15 trailer. They've got another 200 trailers and 50 playable demos to go, so start revving up those credit cards baby!

Maybe some new dyeable ones might cheer you up?

I wish female characters could wear those shorts.

I'm happy for the the new swimsuits but it looks like I won't be able to get the bomb dance. That really sucks :(

This is fine by me as well. FAR better than a F2P-styled cash shop strategy.

If I wanted in-game items to be removed from the game only to be thrown on a cash shop, I'd go play any of the other crappy f2p titles out there.

oh I agree, I think gear from previous years should be sold at vendors, that is not how it is done unfortunately

Those shorts should definitely be unisex.

It's dumb that they aren't, but good luck getting SE to ever change it. You know they wont.

Just going to have to settle for Artisan's Culottes like usual.

Alternatively, they could make it so that holiday/event items are account-bound on the calamity salvager. If you were present on at least one character during the event, you could then get the items on any character in the future.

Since they might be giving it out in the Cash Shop then I wonder if they'll make previous year's moonfaire gear dyeable as well? Like what they did with the Valentione's clothes

Probably not? The previous years' swimsuits were the same design, but different colors. It seems kind of redundant to allow us to dye them.

Love the swimsuits! :D Will definitely be going for the plain one.

That said I really do hope we can get an in game vendor to get yukatas or a surprise quest with them. Didn't join in time for last year's yukatas. Though I have a sinking feeling they'll be cash shop only.

I am so so so excited about the fact they're dyable. I can't wait to see how the striped one will look dyed, but I love the solid one too.

I'd actually be ok with this. My main has all those items and with this change I'd be able to pass them to my Au Ra alt. Also, it'd give me a chance to piss off the MB when I give them away for free like I did with the 1.0 Chirstmas items last Christmas when they hit 100k a pop on the MB. It was wonderful, having Roes in snowman outfits dancing around and shouting near the Calamity Salvager.

Edit: It was a bit sad too, a lot of people asked for the Reindeer Suit I couldn't trade them. ; ;
