Yeah, this'd be nice and should be pretty easy to implement.

Fate music really need a fix, when riding a mount sometimes the mount's music takes over the fate music, sometimes it doesn't. Dunno why, and it's not a question of fate importance 'cause it happens will small fates too.

I can't describe how much this drives me up the wall. FATE music should only play under two circumstances: When I'm on a DoW/DoM job at the appropriate level, and when I'm sync'd to the FATE.

I love some of the music in the different zones (nighttime in the Forelands is one of my favorite <3), and I get annoyed when it's interrupted by the dumb FATE music while I'm peacefully gathering.
Plus, after farming so many damn FATEs, I'm so sick of that music. I just hate hearing it anymore, even when I'm actively doing FATEs.

This was a great thread to bring back. It's not a matter of liking or not liking the combat music. It's about having to hear it so often, no matter what you're doing, and how it interrupts the rest of the music in the game. I really appreciate that it stopped playing constantly in dungeons, but we need the option to turn it off completely, even in the overworld, when we're done with it. Some of the best music tracks in Heavensward are the zone themes, and I so rarely get to enjoy them without the frequent, obnoxious intrusion of combat music.

Please, please, please please.

The battle music. The FATE music. I hate both so effin' much.

Can it really take them two freaking years to figure out how to toggle?? @_@

So.. multiple expansion releases and we still can't disable that annoying battle music which starts every time we ride past an aggressive mob?

Well, guess the hard work of the music team goes to waste yet again. So far I've heard a lot of lovely zone music, but I will disable it because of the monotony of battle and FATE music.

It's a shame. System designers deserve a kick in the rear from the music team on this one.

They can get the UI guy to comment on a thread lickity split but we can't get an on or off switch that's been requested for months?

Instead of a battle music toggle, how about a MP3 like device you can use to play any song you find or acquire? Similar to the MP3 in FFXV. I would love to play the HW Battle Theme Remix when fighting mobs or change the annoying Area Themes like AV....

I definitely support this. The field music in Stormblood (and the rest of Final Fantasy XIV) is excellent, and I'd really enjoy turning off the battle music. I believe Azys Lla already does this actually. It would be a great feature to have.

As many people mentioned, it is really disappointing that there is no option to disable battle music after all those years. It's extremely annoying in the long run, in particular in open areas where you are bound to aggro something while navigating or fight only during a very short time since mobs are weak. Please give us an option so we can fully enjoy the out-of-combat background musics!

Would love the option to turn off both battle AND FATE music. Especially the later can get so annoying, especially if I'm enjoying the theme of the zone. I make it a point to go around any FATE marks on the map when possible.
It's also disappointing that we don't have an option to loop backround music.

Hey this thread got bumped back up again!

So, Square-Enix, how you doing? You just released this new expansion, it's been pretty alright! It's got some nice music. Some real nice music, actually. Would be a shame if some of us couldn't relax and enjoy that nice music, wouldn't it? Imagine this: You're playing a new MMO, and you're loving the music so much. Every time you go into a new zone you think "Wow! They really nailed it here too! It's all perfect." But then... disaster. You walk past a bee, and your presence has offended it. Trumpets! Blaring trumpets! Drums! This bee is so mad it brought an orchestra with it, and the orchestra is really mad at you too. So mad that they've contracted their services out to every bee, bear, squid, and mud creature the realm over to play their same angry, upset song at you everywhere you go. You just wish you could hear that pleasant music uninterrupted by an angry orchestra again.

That's us. All the time. That player. Pretty please, can we have a toggle?

You still get the aggro (targeting) notification ping, which is controlled by the Sound Effects volume.

I'd love an on/off switch. I've only been playing a month or so and the battle music's already driving me mad.

I remember the first time I learned how to turn off the Chocobo/Magitek music. It was glorious.

Note to players that want it off. Simple solution turn off sounds that you can and buy the sound track make an customized play list and there you have it. I enjoy listening to ffxiv and ffxi while playing and sometimes I listen to Sirius xm.

I turned off background music years ago. If there were an option to choose, I might turn it back on.

Yeah the battle music in the field can be annoying and repetitive. Something I dont understand when they have so many different battle themes in the franchise to pull from, having a randomize or selector of your favorite would be nice.

Not only combat music but music loop too. However, this last part it's more tricky because a lot of the tracks are designed to loop (very noticeable via orchestrion)

I'd leave it on, but I'm all for more options for people who want it off.

On the topic of music It would be nice if we could set a hotkey to turn on/off BGM. Right now we only have the option for a hotkey for all sound. I don't have BGM on by default, but sometimes I want to turn it on (like for cutscenes, or for when I'm riding the magitek mount.)

Please do this, SE! The battle and fate music are the devil!

The new Stormblood music is amazing. Too bad I can only enjoy it while sitting still, not while doing any actual activities like quests, or hunts, or FATEs. And for that matter, let me toggle gathering leve music too. I thought I could at least enjoy the peaceful ocean floor (no FATEs! no mobs!) while leveling my mining but no, I have that same ol' Yay, you are hardworking and industrious! brass and flute music instead of the Ruby Sea soundtrack.

I would love to be able to turn off battle music and FATE music so I can hear the pretty zone music while I quest. I only get to hear the pretty zone music uninterrupted if I'm just standing in a safe corner doing nothing... That is crappy design :(
