*Sigh* You're both as bad as each other tbh I am a 1.0 player along with my husband with over 15 years of mmo experience and I am tired of the grind myself but I still play as I love my friends in honesty I hate the direction the game has taken & I play less and less each day, also Yes this community is getting worse infact because FFXIV follows a style of play WoW does I'm sure that's to blame but older players don't help by aggravating these sorts of flame baits.
We may as well accept it the game will not have some of the great feature's it used to have and YES to all those who who flame 1.0 it DID have great features it also had bad ones.
As for OP I don't care no more have the Goobue mount it makes no difference to me as I am a shadow of my former self and I don't give a damn no more as new people will always want and beg for things they cannot have but Dev's usually eventually cave in for $$$.
I'm more surprised people are making a huge stink over what is basically a palette swapped mount. I thought people hated the copy pasta in this game or was I told wrong?
Just to clarify, this is incorrect. It was not a quest reward. If you had a combat class at or above level 30, you spoke to the Wandering Minstrel south of Camp Bloodshore in La Noscea once, he told you a prophecy and then he gave you a horn that unlocked the mount. That single interaction gave you the item; it wasn't a quest and it wasn't in Coerthas.
Edit: Also, I'm a Legacy Campaign player, I supported the game when many others had run for the hills. I'd like it if the Goobbue had been tied to the account rather than to the character (I'm an alt-aholic and not all of my alts have it) but I'm fine with it being the way it is so that the integrity of the limited time run of the item/mount stays in tact. I disagree with the re-release of previous holiday items as well. To me, these limited time things represent memories, of the event, of the year, of the character's life, of the friends you did things with back then. To have those items be buyable (either with gil or cash) cheapens that. I'll notice someone wearing some event gear from years ago and try to reminisce about it with them only for them to not know where their item even came from since they just bought it. That's ... sad. To me at least. We're all entitled to our own opinions and that's just mine.
I have 35 years experience playing MMOs, including literally hundreds you've never heard of because you're not hardcore or sexy enough. In fact I've played so many MMOs so thoroughly that my knowledge of the genre cannot be surpassed. Women find me irresistible as a result.
Anyway, you're all hopeless noobs. Eat it chumps.
I concur - I'd be okay with a reskin. Maybe a snow goobue?
My 1.0 character Taprara Rara has her goobue mount, and since I never got her through the 2.0 story, it's the one really cool thing she has whenever I fell the urge to roll around as a Lalafell in the game. (That, and her tattoo.)
Interestingly, the Legacy bird is available on a per account basis, so there are 2.0 era characters puttering around on the Legacy birds. The only characters with the Legacy Goobue mount, however, actually were in 1.0 for the summer where it was available.
Pretty much the above.
Though I'm a bit surprised the OP hasn't been bullied into apologizing for their post by the "you don't deserve it" crowd.
The game you are looking for does not, has not, and will not exist.
it's my goobbue and you can't have him
Look, I did not spend a night cramped up in gaol with the Wandering Minstrel in the bowels of the Coral Tower just to have every green 'venturer new to the realm try to say they've done the same.
I have the legacy goobue and the legacy tatoo, but missed the cutoff for the legacy chocobo by 3 days. Don't try to get everything, it's an impossible dream.
I have a compromise! Put the Legacy Goob in the shop for bags and bags of cash but it permanently changes your title to 'wrong kind'.
Then my kind will know you're your kind and other kinds will know you're not my kind and my kind will be happy to avoid your kind and those other kinds can do what they want.
Every kind of person should be happy with that.
Kind.

Bow down before my divine legacy goobbue u pleb
Nope don't support. Sorry but what's next? "Yoshi let us buy Dalamund Horn please!" They already gave you the other goobbue be happy with that.
Seriously. The Sylph goobbue is enough of a concession.
When most everyone bailed and bagged on v1 Legacy folks supported it with enough of their dollars for SE to deem it feasible to overhaul into the pretty excellent game you're playing. Let us have our barely-different goobbue, our barely-different chocobo, and our invisible mark of Carteneau. They're a pittance.
I'm pretty sure most 1.0 exclusive stuff will make it's ways in the cash shop or as some type of in-game achievement or prize
Honestly, for stuff that's 1.0 exclusive simply because the game stopped existing, I don't care. But for stuff we were specifically told was only around for a certain time or for certain achievements, no thank you.
If I wasn't told this mount would be going away for good, I wouldn't have grinded so hard to get to 30 in a game that was fun, but confusing, and lonely because I had no LS, just to get it in time.

I'll give you another shot if you want. I know picking random observations out of thin air is a skill and all. If you're going to attempt to call someone out, at least put some effort into it.
You're funny. Join date is your first clue. The second amusing part is this:
I don't...what? This not only makes no sense, but the rather poor attempt at even constructing a valid counter argument at this point shows. Clearly.Quote:
I bet you're the type of guy hate on new players on other games that you've been a part longer than.
Third. What do BRDs have to do with factual evidence supporting that SE was in the hole (Up to the brink of bankruptcy, part of which is due to 1.0) back in 1.0 up until after 2.0. So not only does that comparison not make any sense, (and not backed up with anything aside from poor sentence structure) but it has nothing at all to do with the "1.0 wuz betur" train that you people seem to want to ride to hell and back.
Besides. BRDs had it coming, but that is for a different thread. Mobility/Utility/decent damage do not mix. That's like MMO balancing 101. A more valid point to prove your playtime, and to note about the difference between 1.x and 2.x would be when (A small group of) WARs thought they should be using DEX instead of STR because the job was so broken. But I digress.
tl;dr: 1.x was bad, you should feel bad for wanting it back and thinking it would work. Yes I've been there. No you're wrong, the above is why. Go home and try again. It was garbage. The numbers state it was garbage. The players stated it was garbage when they left. The other nine people you waved to in the game does not save it from this fact. Anything said after the fact is just personal opinion (And a very wrong one, mind you) that has no place in a valid argument because the numbers prove otherwise. So yes, 1.x was garbage and will always be garbage.
OP: No. You don't get the gobbue. Just deal with it and ride the other one. You didn't miss much anyway.
Yeah, I think it would be nice to add this mount and others onto the cash shop. I support this, and I have the mount. There are a number of things I missed from 1.0 that I didn't get because all I wanted to do was mine. Roe-miners for life!
Sorry but no, can't support this at all. Putting stuff like the goobue, chocobo or tatoo is kinda a slap tol the face of us 1.0 survivors and takes away the limited nature of these items. On another note someone noticed my legacy tatoo, and acted like they had just met a celebrity. I took off my armor so they coild study it :3
I miss my goobue... Its on my 1.0 character I dont play anymore since I play on Balmung now. So have a 1.0 screenshot...

Hope I didn't just post the same thing twice. The mobile version of the forums is such a pain to use sometimes x_x
I find it funny how THESE specific one time only items seem to be off limit to the masses, but then you see threads pop up supporting one time event items to go straight to the cash shop, like the lightning stuff, and the other events like DQ and the like. Nice double standards. If we weren't there for the 1.x items, and that's your reasoning, then you have no right to the post 2.x items you missed. One time only, or limited time only should mean just that. If people end up getting the latter, the other should be up for grabs. Just my two cents.
Edit: Just for clarification, I don't think either should be obtainable. But if one goes, they both should go.
kinda surprised I had to use this again... I'm not even a legacy player, but OP...

I'm not a legacy player. (Did play 1.0 but didn't stick with it.) I don't think they should even add it to cash shop, the whole point of legacy player bonuses is that they are a thank you to the players who supported the game from the start.
I also think that special event items should stay exclusive too, gives you something you can feel proud of owning if you made the event. Yeah shame for people who didn't get them but that's how it goes~
I don't know about the Legacy Goobue mount
But for all others things, they can just offer us a reskinned version of legacy-only items? That way they'll have the best of both worlds: legacy will have their version + the slightly reskinned one too, while non-legacy will only get that reskinned version. The Goobue mount is probably the best example I can think of.
Did you play in the last few weeks of 1.0? It wasn't an empty shell. The game had to be remade because it's foundation was built on a sinkhole (servers are the sinkhole if you didn't get the metaphor). The combat, job system, stat system, and dungeons/trials had plenty of life to base a game around and were more complex than what we currently have in a lot of ways. They decided to take it in a more traditional approach because of the whole "tried and true" mentality. They had no room to take risks with the amount of support they lost. ARR is a success, no doubt about that. But 1.23 could have been fleshed out on new servers and been just as much fun.
Legacy members are not getting any new privilege. please don't make our existed privileges worthless. They already gave another Goobbue mount to everyone. just be happy with that.
As a legacy player I'm glad 1.x is dead an never coming back. Even in 1.23 it was not fun to play. It was slow, plodding and terrible. I will glady take a simplified battle system that's actually fun, over the clunkiest trainwreck that took forever that was 1.anything. Go look up the fight with nael van darnus at the end of 1.23. The fight took 20 minutes (which should tell you something is wrong right there) and for like 99% of the fight it's just people stacked on top of each other slowly casting weaponskills. Boy howdy, what fun that was! It was a bad game, it was always a bad game. It got less bad as it went along but it never stopped being a bad game. Now it's dead and it's never coming back. Good riddance.
Tell you what... Let's do the following:
- Allow players to buy "Legacy" status via the Cash Shop.
- Allow players to purchase the Goobbue mount from the Cash Shop.
- Allow players to purchase the Legacy Chocobo mount from the Cash Shop.
- Allow players to purchase the Mark of the Twelve (Legacy Tattoo) from the Cash Shop.
And while we're at it, for an additional fee, you can also upgrade your account so you get the same discounted fee as players who continued to support the game got! That's right, even you, the guy who decided the game was utter crap and came back later, can look and have all the perks of the other guy standing in the corner there who kept on paying and supported the game!
Look, back in version 1 they allowed players a short time of free access before the servers shut down to get your own goobbue mount from the Wandering Minstrel. If you had an account in good standing you could have logged in during that brief period of time and got the mount for yourself. People got this, the Legacy tattoo, the status, the bird, and the discount all for supporting the game when SE needed the funding to revive a game that was deemed by most as an utter failure. Now I get some people couldn't afford it, maybe they had real life problems, something else hindered them from supporting the game like they wanted to. Unfortunately it's too late to get those rewards, the incentives to keep paying for a game that may have ultimately tanked if A Realm Reborn was a failure as well.
The cash shop is a good way to support the game and get old items that were exclusive to players of the original game before the reboot. Things like the Moonlet, clothes, helmets, things like that. But putting in items like mounts that were given to players as a thank you for showing support when the developers needed us the most is the wrong way to go about doing it.
I think we're getting some of these items mixed together. I agree that if other one-time items make a comeback or are put on sale in the shop, then the goobbue should be included. That mount wasn't part of the Legacy campaign, it was simply a one-time event during 1.0's final year. You could technically have subbed for only 1-2 months in 2012, gotten the Goobbue, and then unsubbed, therefore not qualifying for Legacy status. You could argue it was made available by the same team and during the same time period, etc, but emotional connections aside, it's hardly any different than the Lightning Strikes campaign.
The Legacy Chocobo, on the other hand, was part of the Legacy campaign, a status that persists to this day. The campaign was a way of thanks for those who were supporting ARR by subbing to FFXIV before it even went down for the transition to 2.0/ARR, not a celebration of a new game in the same franchise coming out. It was a "Thank you", not a "Hooray!". The Tattoo is literally exclusive only to characters that were transferred off of 1.0's servers, not part of the Legacy Campaign. Create a new character, no tattoo, Legacy member or not.
So, Goobbue? Whatevs, sure, throw it in the cash shop along with the Lightning stuff. But it most certainly is not in the same category as the tattoo or the Legacy chocobo.
