Yep, sucks we have to wait but they're going to be MUCH more useful in 1.20+ ^^ Plus food and alchemy potions gonna carry exact details of what they do on em in addition to the changes and buffs... something we never even got on 11 :)

Hates alchemists? Are joking? How many fish recipes did they hand you to SP on vs new food recipes with fish for CULS? They gave alch like 50 recipes for shards/crystals from fish, it would not have been hard to add in a dozen or so new sea/river sand recipes so we could atleast sp a bit better, have you looked at our rank 40+ recipes vs what you rank up on? There are over 50 fish in game, nearly all the sea sand recipes are in the rank 1-30 range with a few being in the rank 30's. You know what our higher rank sand recipes are? Friggin fish that are still on in game yet, the damn game still suggests that we rank up on recipes that are not even possible to complete. WTH is that about?
How many people do you think use glue vs how many players regularly consume food? Alchemist may not be the most favored of the classes, but it sure gets more love than culs have at this point.
1 year in and only a fraction of the players in game actually make use of things we make on a consistent basis. Supposedly next patch, okay we shall see. Won't be surprised to see us once again excluded from patch notes though.
And again, I am not down on the entire patch, but im pissed that they keep shoving us to the side with every patch for a damn year now.
Actually, for me at least, this was very nice to CUL because a lot of the only-NPC-bought materials like cinnamon or the ones that were only easily obtainable from NPC had their prices reduced by quite a bit. Making gathering streamlined by reducing the amount of "noise materials" you can get in each zone makes it easier to get the cooking ingredients you need en masse.
All I really need for CUL is for the more stupid recipes (Crowned cake) to not be dumb and for all the recipes to produce multiples.
this friggen recipes update messed lot of my money making recipes thx a lot
I am not complaining about the cost of ingredients dropping, not in the least. My comments are directed towards the Final Product foods which have had price drops on NPCs. Crafted foods should just not be on the NPCs at all, ingredients are fine, but not the final product.
And yes Crown Cake is the biggest WTH recipe I have seen lol
Eh true, but you a "last resort" is nice for when no one is selling any. At least on my server all the NPC prices are still more expensive than the food price is currently, but of course I can't speak for all servers, and it helps some prices from getting out of hand for whatever reason. I think most food is overpriced personally.
Food prices are actually fine atm I think. Its all supply and demand. Either I have to farm it myself, which take alot of time... a helluva lot of time or I have to buy it from other botanists. Most bots just toss the crap out because it clutters up their inventory, they want logs and such. If ingredients were more more readily available prices would be too much. As is even on Besaid in Uldah I can never find a fraction of what I need and when I do its like x1 and someone is trying to sell it for like 3-8k depending for a single ingredient hehe.
At first it seem this screws over leveling due to parts done in bulk, BUT it seems to me that like 3 skins for 3 leather seems to be geared towards leveling on finished products rather then parts.
MIND IS BLOWN. I have more of a drive to rank weaver now because of the new gear~
my comment about them not adding all those fish into the game goes along with this.
there are lots of fish in the dat files and on websites that have been there for a year, and still aren't implemented into the game.
they could have at least released those fish into the game and added culinary recipes to go with them.
Patch notes will be 3-5 times as large as with 1.18 you say?
No wonder why!
This is wrong yes? This has got to be wrong. The other arrows don't make sense either but this one is the worst. The other one's actual give you a break by giving you the higher tier arrow for the lower tier metal but the Bronze Arrow for a Steel Ingot? I really hope that's wrong.Quote:

No more fine sand sold at NPC... Goodbye mass production shards!
all i can do is sit back and laugh and say this is what people have been talking about from the first time they mentioned the streamlining of recipes. unless they increase the amount of sp per synth alot of people that just think they hate crafting now are really gonna hate it after the patch.
if you don't believe me just look at weaver.
before with 2 cotton bolls you made 12 yarn...it takes 4 yarn to make 3 cloth. that means 2 cotton bolls makes you 9 cloth. that is 9 parts for a finished gear.
after the patch 2 cotton bolls make you 1 yarn....it takes 2 yarn to make one cloth. this means now it is going to take you 4 cotton bolls to make 1 cotton cloth. that gives you one part for a finished gear.
people are looking at the changes and saying ohhhh simplification. if you look at the numbers it will take you 18x the amount of synths to make the same amount of materials. if i can get enough materials for a grind today in 1 hour you will be working for 18 hours after the patch to get the same amount of materials.
unless they boost the sp given per synth to 10x what it is now i am really going to feel sorry for everyone that didn't get their crafts ranked before.
Am I looking at this wrong, are arrows a 1:1 ratio now?
Seems when multiples Areca result they put it in the parentheses after result name.
So one arrow per synth?
Eh, personally I'll be spamming stored leves once or twice a week.Quote:

it does when yarn is around a level 5 synth and cloth is like 12, but they make gear that is in its 30's. so you are saying that you doing the same low level synth that gives little to no sp is going to be just as fast as making the higher end gear when you are at rank??????? i need some of your drugs.
You can stock up if you grind on materials and you will be able to buy mats easily to grind off of gear. All the random high level recipes that used low level mats to create low level gear were going to become lower level themselves, too.
Not to mention crafting leves will be a lot easier to accrue now.
ok i looked it up
cotton yarn is a rank 12 synth so you can easliy start making it at rank 7 not 5.
cotton cloth is a rank 19 synth so you can easily start making it at rank 12.
cotton cloth is used all the way up to rank 42 items.
are you honestly trying to tell me that doing 18x the amount of synth to get the same amount of materials to grind with at higher levels by making those low level items, which give 0 sp at that point, is not going to slow down the ranking up process?
that particular recipe isn't the issue, but rather how it impacts what you make with the yarn down the line, which is where you gain most of your SP from.
For example, right now 2 flax will net you 12 linen yarns, which in turn will get you 4 undyed linen synth, for a total of 5 sp synths from 2 flax.
in the new system, 2 flax will net you 1 yarn, which is only half of what you need for a single undyed linen, which means you would need 4 flax to make one linen cloth, which in turn gives you 4 flax for 3 sp synths
If SP per synth remained the same, this recipe in the new system would have you use twice the amount of mats for barely 30% of the SP.
yea, and linen is more forgiving in that making the yarn gives somewhat decent sp at least at first, for other recipes where the preparatory synth gives no sp, it's even worse,
it's pretty much wait and see from here until patch.
I think at that point you are probably meant to move on to the new recipes since it looks like now there are more tiers of mats and they all use their own raw mat.
Edit: PrettyPrincess good god that new sig is even freakier.
I wasn't even aware that woolen yarn existed before this patch...
I'm going to comment on this thread just to say... PrettyPrincess.. your new sig just disturbed me so much... I'm going to have trouble sleeping.
As for the topic, 'wait and see' are the golden words.
Quote from Dev post: "* The following feature, planned for patch 1.19, is still in development, and therefore subject to change."
90% of the people posting in this thread need to take this into consideration.
I'm just about 23 weaver atm and i can see why people would be annoyed by the way how the new way of getting threads to cloth would outcome. I would just like to say, i would rather have that than make things from other crafts just to make 1 simple shirt.
If I remember correctly, this is just regarding new recipes being added and the old ones arn't being phased out til 1.20?
