The game is soloable. All im arguing is to improve the solo mode and turn it from grinding to deep story questing to attract a different type of gamer. It obviously wont effect multiplayer at all since EVERYTHING IS SOLOABLE ALREADY.

And it would make a great first expansion along with some new multiplayer stuff. It would let them re-launch the game to an entirely new audience.

yes and guess what... this game already has an npc partner system in it. Its part of the main missions. So they can use that to let you "solo with a party" and be competitive with SW: TOR, which lets you do that from launch.

it has gear
it has player models

All they would have to do is to create cutscenes.
Create a few new zones (which they seem to be able to do in 2-4 months given they are releasing 3 new zones this patch)
and create the story which is really just npc text.

you can solo 30k an hour easily. Most people do. The 10k is the lowest extreme for new players lacking multiple abilities.
If you duo you get sp a lot faster than if you party

You can solo to 50 easily in a few weeks.

You can solo to 40 in one week.

So all i'm saying is they should implement a more fun way to solo to 40 in the same time period in order to attract non-mmo people. It wouldnt effect the game at all since you can alredy solo to 40 in a week by just spamming 2 or 3 keys. It would just create an alternative way to solo.

ummm you would have the opportunity to solo ONE job ONE time to 40 via an in-depth story or series of quests. You could then choose to play the MMO version of the game (which doesnt imbalance the game since you could have just solod in the normal mmo world at the exact same speed).

DoH and DoL are meaningless for solo since you can get all gear from killing low level nms and leves and since solo in the game is so easy. I mean i can take out mobs 10 leves above me naked and with a weapon 10 levels below me and never even get close to death.

DoH and DoL are only useful for endgame now....

ok, a good solo sp, using your formula is 300 sp per enemy, one enemy is 50 seconds when not counting running etc.

300/50*60*60 = 21600 sp maximum per hour.

counting running and respawn = one enemy per 1.5 min

300/90current_seconds*60seconds*60minutes = 12600 sp

so on a good day you get 15k/h sp from solo grinding.

multiplayer, you can double and even triple that if lucky.

SE only need about 2-4mil playing for about a good 5years to repay back what they lost and make more out of it. SE take long term not short term like your thinking. FFXI made back what they lost making it and made x2 the amount and this is what SE is doing for FFXIV.

Who cares if FFXIV get a 5.0score for 5years+ if it have 1-4mil players the game would live for a long time just like FFXI did so i don't see the issue here. look at wow it have 13-14mil players but full of dumb??? people and i can't stand being in the game for longer then 1hour. At least ffxiv have little more grown up people.

Don't get me wrong i want ffxiv to be up there but i don't want it to won vs wow because wow players would always go back to wow.

I have a specialist in economics + politics from the best university in my country and one of the top non-american ones in the world. I specialize in neuro-economics (ex. i know neuroscience as well as any BA neuroscience student). I run an e-marketing firm that specializes in maximizing profits using the internet. That means i write web applications. In other words, i know how to program. I have programmed games before (mainly strategy games which required juggling 40ish variables and tons of formulas).

And attracting a non-mmo population to an mmo is good because many of them will enjoy the single player version of the game and decide to try the MMO version.

Lets say a single player mode is implemented.
500,000 people buy the game to play single player. If SE makes even $5 per sale of the -game- that is 2.5mil
If 10% of those players continue on to play the MMO for $10 a month, that is
$500,000 a month extra profit.
in a year thats 6mil.

Thus a single player expansion could generate 8.5 mil in 1 year. Since the core game elements are already built, it would probably cost 5mil or less for the labour needed to create a story expansion.

Now many of those people will play/pay for more than a year. And will buy a new FF MMO when it comes out 7 years down the road.

FF single player games in the main series -always- sell well. So SE is almost guarenteed to make a profit off it. Even if they offered it free, the number of new mmo subscriptions it generated could more than pay for the costs and provide more profits for the game.

I mean to determine all this SE would have to run a statisticaly accurate survey to determine if enough ppl would be willing to purchase a single player game when its coupled with an MMO. But theres a good chance it would work :p

umm.. an enemy goes down in under 10 sec. I can kill puks with literally 2 ws's. and they give like 300 sp.... why dont you go try out the guide rather than trying to pretend you know what your talking about.

the game is not failing that bad, its much more popular that it was a year ago. and at re-launch who knows what marketing strategy they will have the. also solo all the quests and you are playing a single player game, a single player game where you can go play with your mates when you want to give single player a break for a bit. the main reason this is a bad idea and i agree with some of the other reply's you have had on this, its better they fix what they got and re-lauch to the masses

im saying implementing this in the first or second expansion. I fully support the game being fixed and tweaked first. This would allow them to re-launch the game AFTER ps3 release to an entirely new population-segment (all the PS3 users who have a ps3 mainly for single player games and dont want to play an MMO)

And all it really would be is an enhanced quest system. It would be identical to making 100 new quests except that it would have new instanced zones, a really good story, cutscenes and voiceacting maybe, 5-10 'bosses', etc. And maybe if you complete it you get a really epic ring or something (kind of like an incentive for the mmo players to do it).

It would also set FFXIV apart from other MMOs. Like if people were looking into it they would see not only can they play an MMO but they can play a full single player game. And even if the MMO part continues to get bad reviews, a really good story in the single player part could get epic reviews (almost every FF does) and attract a lot of players who would eventually decide to continue playing the game in MMO mode.

i don't know i think this could end up being a watered down single player game or a watered down MMO. you can't be all things to all ppl, or u end up being nothing to no1 :P

You do understand this is a JP company not a NA? that only care about there money and not how good the game is right? If SE was having money issue why did they give about 2+mil to help out japan issue with the earthquake hit? i mean come on use your dam head. SE even shut down most of there power in there building to save power. Do you really think SE is broke? how much money do you think they make off FMA / brotherhood? or Kingdom hearts and FF13 and they even bought a new company which make tomb raider and making them loads of money? Do you really think a company like SE is broke due to a failing MMO? sure they went down in stock and so on but if they really had issue they would have not give out money to the earthquake and bought a company.

I hate to break this to you but SE is a corporation not a privately owned company. Corporations are legally obligated to seek profit. Anything else is considered theft from shareholders. I know this because my company -is- a corporation.

Who's money is that? it's not SE's. It's their shareholders....
SO their CEO would essentially be stealing the shareholders money....

So why is it ok to donate money to japan? because its publicity. The fact you realize it is proof. It makes people think the corporation is good and they are willing to buy more products from them. It is a -marketing- technique.
And it can't be anything else because then it would be -illegal-

If you don't believe me go to any MBA school nearby and ask -any- professor there.

Public Corporations MUST seek profit because they are not owned by a single person but 1000s of people.

You can have a board of directors meeting.
But even there, you cant just -give- money away. it has to benefit the company somehow.
In this case the company is located in japan and obviously couldn't function until Japan fixed certain things. so they could justify the donation as "helping to fix the house that just fell"

But the point is, they cant just give money away to be nice. There has to be a profit driven reason. Unless theres like a super majority and even there, you get a lot of complex legal complications.

Otherwise someone could buy 51% of a company, vote to give all the money to their wife or parents, and run the company bankrupt essentially stealing its money.

edit: but the fact ppl know they donated the money shows there -was- a marketing aspect to the decision.
