So, how is your AST healing in Alexander?

Hard to say what I think of ASTs I healed alongside with. I've been away for a while, so I need to get used to actually letting my heal partner take over instead of pissing my MP away handling tank, and AOE healing myself.

I admit, just because SE gave SCHs more AOE heals doesn't mean I should use them when I have a WHM/AST next to me; I've been ooming in alexander trying to be mr ramerez do-everything.

Well, Indom is essentially a free heal, and I feel it should take priority over having your AST or WHM slice off a hunk of their mana to heal up after some raidwide damage.
Outside of that, AST doesn't really have better AoE healing than you. Helios is actually -weaker- than Succor unless they're in Nocturnal (and that should literally never be happening), while Aspected Benefic in Diurnal is an embarassing mockery of Medica II.

No matter how you slice it, SCH has the best mana management of the healers.

Raid group went in completely blind, massacred first 3 floors, AST healing seems fine. But this is only story mode. Diurnal sect and Nocturnal sect seem to be fine, both bringing different thing to the different floors. It still needs tweeking as a class, it still has issues in potencies (cards and healing spells), functionality of stances, Collective Unconscious not being that useful in its current iteration, Celestial Opposition being seriously terrible (especially for a lvl 60 ability).

Still love it as a class, but SE needs to show it some love and it will all be fine :).

Aspected Helios is Diurnal is actually incredibly powerful. It's honestly the reason why I chose Diurnal even if there is a WHM in the party. Aspected Benefic + Card + Aspected Helios with Time Dilation is an incredible amount of HPS on a target. Celestial Opposition also extends the HPS of your Helios. If you can line up CO with your LA, the party's A. Helios and the party's expanded buffs, you can get the most bang for your buck with that CO. It's a pretty crazy combo and I love how much synergy Diurnal has with the rest of our kit.

Nocturnal Stance falls short because you have lower potency shields (Succor and A. Helios is a difference of 6 potency mind you). On top of having lower potency shields, you lose your most powerful healing tool. Your high regen uptime. TD and CO have absolutely 0 synergy with Nocturnal Stance and to boot, the SCH will absolutely eclipse you in damage mitigation, healing output and personal DPS. Nothing will beat Aldo + Deployment Tactics off of a Warrior with Defiance and Convalescence in terms of mitigation.

TL;DR Diurnal actually has a chance at competing with WHM in HPS (burst heals and quickly topping off members is another story) and Nocturnal has absolutely no chance of even coming close to SCHs mitigation.

Let's put it like that. Done plenty of Alexander on AST with other healer being SCH and just out of curiosity both of us tried solohealing it. SCH could soloheal A1-A3 without even requiring Mage's Ballad, AST soloheal is possible only with Ballad because you simply run out of MP at some point and your baseline heals (Benefic, Aspected Benefic) simply do not cut it at some of the congestion spots of the fight and you start using Benefic II along with Aspected Helios which makes MP burden even worse
Another issue is WHM level of burst healing (basically none) along with worse than WHM sustained in Diurnal Sect (you can buff your sustained by using Time Dilation or Celestial Opposition but so can a WHM with Divine Seal). And Nocturnal Sect simply sucks because shields are way worse than SCH's and Aspected Benefic/Helios in Diurnal is quite good to dump them

About AST dps: DoTs are way too weak since Combust is just a tiny DPS gain over Malefic II spam with exception that Malefic can actualy miss. Gravity loses over Holy because of two reasons: lower radius and no stun and taht you can cast it over a target is a double-edged sword sometimes since Holy will finish it's cast at any case, however if Gravity's target dies before that you simply waste time. Meanwhile WHM gets AoE DoT...

I am not touching Cards because everyone knows that it is also quite underwelming currently

Astro is in dire need of some buffs and QoL improvements because sure it is fine in Normal but it will become weak link in the chain in Savage and not a single decent raidleader will take Astrologian over WHM/SCH for that. Like wss said multiple times already being able to heal same content doesn't mean it is equal to other healers
