My friends all told me to avoid FFXIV, for ages and ages they kept going on that it was terrible. One day I chose to ignore them and buy it.
Ignorance really IS bliss! :D

On a serious note about refering friends... I tried to get friends to play this with me. They didnt care about anything else, he asked "Does it have jump?" "no" "then I am not getting it" XD I was like "What?! why are you judging a game because of that?" He responds "because if I can jump in real life I should be able to jump in a game, it adds dimension" lol. He still hasn't tried it XD!
On a side note I am going to enjoy my One Peice Sanji Coffee XD >.> and maybe some gundam Cup Noodle!
Good attitude OP, we need more people like you.
As far as User223244..whatever..the..f***..your..name..is - go post somewhere else. There is no need for negativity. If you don't like the game that you feel the need to bash every good attempt at praise for its developers, why are you playing it?
To be honest i was detered a little when I first tried guild Wars because it had no jump button. In open-world explorable games I like to leap off things... probably got it from playing too much Sonic The Hedgehog when I was a kid. But still even though FFXIV has no jump (at the moment at least) it doesn't really bother me. I mean, if it DID have jump I would have already lost count of how many times I'd have had to return to a camp due to leaping from the white cliffs of La Noscea.
As my side note I'm watching a real 3D hologram singing the World Is Mine on stage infront of a crowd of thousands of screaming fans whilst pondering the possibilities of a Hatsune Mikuqo'te...
For the dev team:

がんばって! :)
Ya thats the thing people don't understand that are against jumping... You can still play with in the ruleset you want by not jumping around doing crazy things. But some of us enjoy it just because we can do it... I would jump from those cliffs or any ledge just to see if I could survive the fall or see what damage I could get just because I can... It is those random events to liven up a day of boring repetition. If you don't want to do it then don't but while you are I am going to go and jump into the middle of those Basalisk's below Horizon.
Never underestimate the power of propelling yourself to an unfortunate demise!
And besides, when they add jump, people will be able to play out that epic moment when all your team-mates are about to be killed by some ugly beastie, then suddenly you appear leaping from a cliff and slamming your sword down upon the unsuspecting foe like an epic scene from Devil May Cry!
Can't remember how many times I did that on Warcraft, always that little surge of adrenaline as Gnibbles the Gnome jumped up from behind a boulder and smashing her axe down on an orcs head, saving the life of some happless mage that was out of MP.
You gots to have them little thrills.
My personal liking of that scenario is in Dark Souls. They added that feature, that wasn't in Demon Souls, Climb up a huge drop and when the big boss beastie is looking up at you leap down blade first and put that blade to the hilt in its head!!!! When I found out about that and saw the damage I did I was like SWEET!!! Going to do that every chance I get!
Give it enough time and words like 'immersion', 'hardcore', 'casual' and 'subjective' will start popping up in sentences.
hehe well we started by salvaging it from giftuser666 and then we went on a major tangent of randomness XD!!!! anyways... I don't know how Yoshi does it.... I could do it while underway because it was on rotating shift work so some nights I got 8 hours of sleep other nights 2... but from how it looks they get about 2-4 hours of sleep a night before going back to work! I hope we are getting to a point that they may actually enjoy some more sleep! I also agree Happy Anniversary this game has come a long way from the vast emptiness this game was at release... (I don't mean players, I mean things in the world and to do in the world...)
I worked like that 7 days a week for near a year...maybe got 3 hours if I was lucky...sprawled out a couple chairs in the office to get some shuteye...where I could...forgot to eat a lot cause in the middle of thinking what to do next.
Its okay User thinks the coding in the game are only 50 line codes...little does he know each one is more than likely way over 1000 lines of coding.
Although Tanaka probably could hash out some half-baked idea with little customization in that time frame. Yoshi seems like he wants to take it to the next level, and I'm okay with that.
(Don't get me wrong though, I have utmost respect for Mr. Tanaka, as I played XI for many many years)
It's really a shame that some people can't enjoy the process of being part of a developing game as it changes and grows into something different. I mean, how many opportunities like this do we gamers really get? Normally all we'd get to see is a finished product where everything is all done, polished and set mostly in stone. Here we get to see the process and reasoning behind why certain things become the way they are from almost square one. What's more we actually have a say in certain changes and ideas that may be considered.
I think we need to remember that it shows a great amount of faith and tenacity for SE to continue developing this game. Were this game a Western company's endeavour, we would have seen it sold off to some F2P hub like Gamepot or abandoned all together and swept under the rug by now.
But on the bright side, the fact that the more vocal players, like User2k11September1st1:15PM, still actively join in on discussion topics does suggest that despite the game's current inadequacies, they too, still have enough faith in the game to stick around whether in the forums or in game. =D
Thanks Devs you have done a good job and can't wait for another year of FFXIV
I like seeing positive threads like this :) it's true that a majority of people know almost nothing of the hard work that goes into making games, and even *more* hard work trying to please their players!
Good job team! I am SO excited for the chocobos that are almost here!!!!
Thank you for all the hard work, FFXIV team. ^^
かんぱい!(with my green tea :p)
wipe your nose, I can still see some brown on it.
BTW this is an English forum. If you want to show off your Google translate skills take it to the Japanese threads.
Even though I have been complaining a bit of late (only a little... and only of late,) I'll more than wholeheartedly rise my glass with the OP as well. Thank you, Yoshida, for all your hard work to you and your team.
:-)

Yeah i like most of the stuff i see planned, i really can't for the systems to be reworked and finished i think alot more people will like the game when its handling smooth and we have all the basic functions we expected. To be honest even though the UI is hard to work with its current foundation i'm very impressed with how the UI looks and soon what we will be able to do with it, it looks better and soon will be more customizable than pretty much any other game that i know and i think it will only get better once the UI foundation is remodeled.
