DRK DPS?

I'm not sure if this is good or not but I'm at i173 with ravana weapon doing currently 480ish DPS as OT in full str gear. I'm not sure if that is average, or good. What are DRK OT doing on ravana post hot fix? And any tips to help me increase my own dps?

Not really, DRK's damage potential really isn't particularly high. After 3 minutes, it's probably the lowest of the tanks.

My DPS Rotation, 16 Dark Arts until full depleted of TP. With 2k MP remaining.

Just checked myself, i172 with 2vit/3str accessories and 30 strength with no items or outside buffs. I can get around 750 DPS after 2 minutes at which point TP runs dry. But I like running at the near bottom end of my MP bar, so I probably couldn't score as high if I had someone actively healing/buffing/debuffing me, thanks to the MP bug.

I don't doubt that I'd be able to get close to 800 with proper equipment, but compared to your average WAR, that's still quite low, especially when we really can't sustain that for very long compared to them either. I haven't seen any PLD parses, but I would imagine they could fairly easily hit 800, and stick to it far longer than a DRK would.

On Dark Knight after some practice I average between 890-900 on a dummy with party/food/pot (No Storm's Eye though) and on Paladin with same conditions I get 840. These are both with currently maxed gear and full strength accessories. However, the Dark Knight hits 0 TP at about 2:10-2:15 and Paladin at about 2:30-2:35, and Warrior can pass both of these job's DPS as off tank (and main tank) while sustaining for much longer. So, while Dark Knight may be able to "nearly" match a Warrior's DPS it is not a very reasonable comparison in most fights when quickly TP starved.

Paladin also has useful stuff to do that doesn't require TP (Clemency, Stoneskin) if they end up being TP-starved, whereas Dark Knight doesn't have anything besides their TP abilities.

Based on your numbers, that ends up leaving PLD with significantly higher damage output after that 2:15 mark.

That said, I think you're either severely underestimating the DPS that WAR can put out if you're going to say that DRK can "nearly" match it. We have videos of WAR parsing over 1000 DPS, and keep in mind that they can effectively do this forever. I'd say a damage difference in that 10% neighbourhood is a severe one, and that's not even factoring sustainability of that DPS or utility outside of it.

Right now, it feels like Dark Knight is stuck in the rut of not having a defining characteristic that really sets it apart. Warriors have the highest damage of the tanks and can sustain it the longest over the course of a fight, while Paladins have solid party support and high defenses. Dark Knight does neither the highest sustained damage, nor do they have any party support to speak of, and their defenses are (at best) average, which leaves them with feeling like a weird hybrid of the two with none of the stand-out benefits.

Let's not mince words here, amoung the category of its peers within its role, DRK's defenses aren't average, they're the worst of the bunch. Right now, DRK does not have a single defining value as a class.

I was saying that it may be able to nearly match it, not that it does. As in with a Warrior in the party since they keep up Storm's Eye anyway would be very close. I agree with you that past the early tp starving point both PLD and WAR will pull far ahead, and due to this (and general lack of unique utility) there is no compelling reason to ever take a DRK over either of the others. Something definitely needs to be done to make DRK relevant beyond dungeon grinding when the raids are released.
