FFXIVs bard should be something like this.

The new FFXIV team seems open to adopting things that worked from other popular MMOs, so it seems this should be a no-brainer.

There are two threads like this floating about now, I really hope SE pays attention and implements it, since it would be a good step toward making the game world richer more interactive.

Yaa, I was just making fun of the other thread not having a real discussion just saying "bump" but ya, either way the more likes the better. More people seeing is good as well.

I agree... if we are to keep these threads open, they really need to have good additions to the convo, not just bumps. lol

I think it could be turned into a craft of some sort? Keep bard how its going to be then we can make a craft for just playing instruments/making music.

Why don't we make it so that we can only learn songs by scraping fairies' backs and writing down their screams?

Now we are getting some discussion happening though :D. I wouldn't say make em scream, but using(killing and gathering) different animal to make different interment types/sounds, is a good idea though :D

No, no. Their screams. Make it be a real evil-sounding shriek and instead of calling them bards call them harpies or sirens. Females only. Sorry, you're out of the club.

I would like it if there was stuff that females could do/males could do that the other sex couldn't. Another great idea :D

Yeah and whenever they use a shriek make the males in the party be stunned for 10 seconds before they're able to benefit from the buffs. Make the females be instantly benefitted, but decay faster than males' buffs. After a while, all males become charmed and the siren grows a tail and eats one of their heads, rendering the account of that player instanly useless.

Hmm, now you are going a little over board, but would be kinda cool if x song did x effect on a femal and a different effect on male.

I support this as well.

It would another dimension to the game and such system could be developed to fit with other classes as well (free form dancing, warriors/pugilist/marauder/lancer able to display some moves for show, mages able to create visual effects show, etc.)
Just like emotes are very useful to express yourself, playing music or dancing are also form of arts used to express yourself. And, I can already imagine all the positive and entertaining atmosphere it could bring in towns during festivals or just around camps while waiting for other people.

It would be something long term for the devs to code, so probably along with jumping after 2.0?
Definitely something we need in FFXIV to make the game the greatest. :D

Mabinogi was an awesome mmo in my book , so much fun things to do besides quests and monster hunting....it was fun fun fun

Oh yes that would be so very nice if they let Bards perform music. :O
I mean Gridania even already has a stage, and let Bards play music stuffz at taverns and the camps outside the citys! O.O

Even if you wont let us do our own music you could give us quests which unlocks certain songs we then can play in above locations!
Chocobo Theme performed in harp/flute single intrument versions!

And of corse for some time in teh future we will need Dancers and performable dances too! :3

Mabinogi 2 might have this feature (since its a spiritual successor of the original), and by the looks of things the graphics will be FFXIV's rival too.

Let me explain the genesis of this necropost. I was thinking about this feature today (after seeing that video I just posted) and instead of making an entirely new thread, like some people who shall remain nameless, I decided to just bump this premade one and save myself some hassle.

Mabinogi is one of the games which did a lot of things right, like crafting or playing music.
Especially music *o*
It made the game feel so much more alive! And if you were annoyed you could just mute music played by players.
But sadly I doubt we EVER get awesome stuff like this, I also doubt we'll ever get interactive crafting too...

Vindictus already has pretty nice graphics and also great physics but it seriously lacks in other departments like..non repetitive gameplay, non-story-driven content, etc.
All the things SE did better:)

They took away the few good sounds we did have, now its all screamy ear bleedy.

As long as the only battle-relevant/useful BRD is the one that uses a bow, I am fine with players being given a music engine to play with.

Seriousness, why wouldn't they not implement something like this, it's amazing.

I would still like to know, if in the future it would be possible to create our own music to play with the instruments.

Well, we all know it wont be available at launch....but maybe a far future patch? I'd love it if bards actually played songs instead of a few high pitched notes.
