There are black flames at the bottom and across the sword for the latter part.

This is from the jobs skill trailer which can be found on the game's youtube channel.Notice how he has black flames while using darkside. This is what me and many others want to be fixed as the aura is currently missing these black flames in the game.
2 reports have been accepted and moved to the accepted bugs forum since the 23rd of June.My hope is that this gets fixed as soon as possible.
Until we get our black flames, we are only Dim Knights.
Rouse my fellow Dim Knights, for this is an injustice to all that should be Dark!
And another patch and still no fix for a bug with 2 accepted reports since the 23rd of June. Can someone from SE at least confirm they will be fixing this at all?
I get there are priorities but at this point I fear this might be forgotten. If it ain't going to be fixed might as well just tell us.
Is it possible the black flame aura was from Dark Arts? In the trailer it opens with the DRK using DA.
Could it be that that's the effect that was removed?
The correct Darkside aura is literally in the lv50 Dark Knight job quest when "you know who" appears AND in every promotion video and screenshot of the Job prior to 3.0 release. This is not including that it's been accepted more than once as a bug and defies the in game options on player visuals.
So people who are commenting about anything other than why SE can't confirm they are working on it is obviously clueless as to what is being asked.
Just realized the black flames weren't in the E3 Gameplay with Dark Knight either.
I seriously hope they didn't scrap the flame effect for whatever reason.
What you say is true but,as I said in an earlier post, the only time the DRK has been seen with the black flames is when wearing the AF2 armor AND using Darkside which only happens in the job skills trailer video. Notice how on every other display of the DRK in AF2 armor without the flames he isn't using Darkside. This includes the benchmark, the first gameplay footage and the original reveal video way back last year.
This makes me believe in the possibility that the black flames may be an effect added by the AF2 armor when using Darkside.Go ahead and look at all the footage since the original reveal and you'll see the pattern. This may be all a big coincidence but IMO I don't think it is at this point.
I've noticed that too, and thought the exact same thing.
I'd just much rather see it as an effect of the skill itself, and not attached only to a certain armor. Otherwise everyone and their mother will be wearing that set, and be forced to to use the set if they want the black flames. And lets be honest, as cool as the armor looks, the appeal will eventually wear off as newer things come out.
Can someone from SE please confirm if this bug is being worked on or if it is part of the Dark Knight AF2 armor set?
Some clarification on this would really be nice.
It was one of the coolest visual features Drk had, and to have it inexplicably missing is just disappointing.
we need a clarification abou this indeed! cmon SE isnt that hard! just tell us if the effect will be added on AF2 or you take it out for some reason.
I want my DARK FLAME - I don't care about the Red aura, the DARK flames makes the class really DARK!
having it ONLY for AF2 is stupid. why would anyone glam anything other than AF2 if that was the case?
SE needs to a) let us know they are working on fixing the bug(s) and b) actually fix the bug(s)
Right now if its an accepted bug then odds are it could take as long as it took to put weapons in the hands of Gigas back in FFXI. If It doesn't negatively affect game play so there's no rush. It could be either a layering issue or a rendering glitch to be stable between platforms. Right now I'm hoping the black flame aura would be better to look at than that red swirly things the Darks are running around with.
I'd be super surprised if this gets fixed at all.
Another thing that enforces the theory that this is a bug to be fixed and not just a removed effect is the fact that both reports were moved to accepted bug forums and not to working as intended even a month later.
I got some semi-good news.I happened to find a japanese article from one of the reporters that played a demo of Heavensward inside that castle in Europe they were gonna do a live letter from last May.In it,he mentions his experience playing the demo and trying some classes including dark knight.
In the dark knight section,he mentions how the Darkside aura does in fact give you the black flames and he even took some pictures. The pictures clearly show the Dark Knight with the black flames but NOT wearing the AF2 armor.Instead the dark knight was wearing a full set of law tome gear.
This means a few things:
1.The black flames are NOT part of the AF2 armor (for those who were worried about that possibility)
2.The black flames are indeed part of the Darkside aura.
3.This is 100% a bug since both bug reports on the missing black flames were moved to the "accepted bugs" forum and not to the "working as intended" section even a month later.
I'll try to post the pictures and link to the article if I can later.
I just really hope it wasn't something that they decided to scrap at some point between the Europe demo, and the demo given at E3.
Because that is where it seemed to have gone missing, and it doesn't seem right that they would just let a bug like that stay on one of the new, popular classes. Especially one that people are going to try out during the E3 demo.
And especially not for as long as it's been right now. That'd be like advertising an iPhone in white and black, but when it comes out and you get there to buy it, it only comes in pink and green.
I honestly think that it's been scrapped. There has been a number of hotfixes and patches, this thread has been going on for a while and this has not been addressed. SE seems to ignore threads that they don't plan on doing something about.
If it doesn't get fixed on the next patch, I doubt it ever will.
If it was scrapped and it's supposed to stay like it is right now, those 2 reports would be in the "working as intended" forum.I think there's just a lot of other bugs to fix because of the new expansion and this isn't a priority thus it might take some time until they find time to fix it.
All I'm asking for is confirmation that is being worked on.Otherwise it would mean their bug forum system is useless and doesn't represent what they really think/will do about the reports.I doubt they would be that unprofessional.
There are hundreds of reports in accepted bugs forums that never see the light of day. It's really just a repository of reports that have the correct template, pretty much the only step in their process flow they adhere to, to keep up appearances. SE does not consistently utilize their system as intended, as the forum is filled with reports from up to 2+ years ago, many of which are actual bugs that eventually got fixed but the report was ignored, others staled until today and are never addressed. They don't follow their own process laid out in their flow sticky, so nobody really knows just what they're actually addressing.
I truly hope it gets fixed.
It's visually intrusive when it shouldn't be, out of combat, and completely disappears when it should be noticeable, in combat, due to being lost in all the other effects going off. Just use Salted Earth and stand in it with Darkside on, its very difficult to see the effect even if you are looking for it. I find this especially irritating since Darkside can turn itself off. The effect should not only be there to look cool, but needs to function as quick and easy visual feedback that Darkside is up.
If by 3.1 this doesn't get fixed then I'll know for sure that there is no point in reporting bugs properly because the only things that get fixed, are bugs that they themselves have noticed or something critical since it seems they don't really take the time to properly investigate most of the accepted reports.
Honestly,if this isn't going to be fixed at all,at least say so SE.Don't just leave 2 reports on this in the accepted bugs forum and leave us waiting for something that will never happen. This would make your whole forum bug reporting system useless.
To be fair, bugs that affect gameplay are a bit more important than visual-only bugs. If they recognize it's a bug, though, it'll probably get fixed soon.
there is also the chance that they are trying to find a way to make it take up less clutter in the system. cause they have said that that is the reason that they have not yet increased the space in the armory yet.
I agree that gameplay affecting bugs take priority, but as far and DRK goes, the last of the gameplay bugs is getting fixed this Tuesday. The only thing that will be left to fix bug wise is the missing black flames as balancing issues are not bugs. That's why I'm asking for confirmation that this is being worked on.
What is the point in reporting anything if they ignore most reports and leave them in the "accepted bugs" forum whether they're really bugs or not?
anyone wanna make a petition to make SE hear us? lets post it on reddit, FB, twitter and get as many signatures as possible and send it to SE FFXIV support and show that we DRK want the dark aura we are promisse!
I edited the OP and included the links of each of the accepted bug reports.
i twitted to FFXIV account and FB page
might as well spam when it's going to be fixed at the next Live Letter dropbox at this point
