Since 1.19 and company recruitment is indeed linked as many people have said, as well as the event starting on the 22cnd... patch day does seem likely to coincide with this^^ Would be a great surprise imo... most of us expecting very end of sept or beginning of oct with a probable pushback for 1.19. For once we may get a patch early :D

Do you ever think before talking out of your ass? Did I say I expected heavy loot? No. But SE events are often shallow and only the last one was worth anything in its loot (though it too was extremely shallow. I got my swimsuit. Now the rest of the event is worthless.) There will probably be like one interesting thing in this event and then you'll forget about it for the last 95% of the event time. I know I sure did with the Fire festival thing. At least it had something interesting for my character. (Lolitastic Lalafell bikini!)

Looking good! ^^ Love the way they are keeping all events connected to current storyline! ^^

I liked the currency...would be cool each city having its own currency other than gil...using the gold/silver/bronze system and gil being just a more general currency for interplayer business...

Also, seeing current event ends 20th and this one starts 22th...and 21th being wednesday, which the day patches often happen (most were monday or wednesday), i guess we also already have 1.19 date, huh? ^^

The very fact that this post exists gives us a 1.19 date. Why the hell would they station recruitment officers around town to "pick our GC" if we can't actually pick our GC?

(Just FYI, "picking" a GC is a feature that comes with 1.19, so you just have to put 2 + 2 together)

Its seems like a 99% Probability That Patch will Fall the day of the Event, 1.19 is the Official Choose your Nation and you can't turn back phase. This Event is setting up Recruitment Officers to Take people into their Nation!

They can put preliminary NPC's related to the recruitment ahead of time. There is nothing in this event that requires a patch to happen before or during it.

They can release the patch before the event, during the event, or after the event. You have nothing to go on.

Use your head will ya, Putting Recruitment NPCs up without a purpose of the "Event" Would make the event as Shallow as this games Launch ~.~. The Event ONLY states about those NPCs being stationed for a Reason right? not to sit around and look pretty? and what of the Event what are these Recruitment NPCs, have in ties with the event?

Why in the heck would they call it " Recruitment NPC" for this " Event" If the Recruitment NPC isn't going to do anything. But I did say 99% chance that it will likely happen, but there's always that chance it won't, but when you put 2+2 together as Archadius said you get 1.19 Patch but will see

Edit: Also, 1.19 is when were getting into Companies not in this event, so if they were to put NPC Recruiters just to tell us all about the company and that's it that's a pretty lame event

No, you are making up "facts" that don't exist. They can have a small quest related to the recruitment that doesn't actually enlist you. "Trials" or whatever.

I'm kind of skeptical about this and view it from 2 different perspectives.

On one hand, like many others have pointed out, this seems to be the "official" recruitment for Grand Companies. With the dates they have mentioned, it's easy to assume that patch 1.19 will release between the 21st and 22nd. This would mean patch 1.19 meets their end of summer deadline, something they seemed pretty strict about for this patch.

On the other hand, the only info we really got about the event itself was that recruitment NPCs would be stationed in the three city states. This doesn't necessarily mean that they will actually recruit us now. For all we know, they might just give us a little sneak preview of each company before we make our permanent decision in which company we join. It seems strange that Grand Company recruitment would be done through an event that has an end date (10/11/11). What happens when the event is over, no more recruitment?

I don't know what to think. I'm definitely not going to set myself up for disappointment by assuming that 1.19 will definitely be released together with this event. I will however remain optimistic about it, and hope that this is the case.

Seems more likely to me that 1.19 won't come till Oct. 12 (hence the enddate of this mini event). It's almost as if SE is releasing a small quest line, starting on Foundation Day, that may lead up to 1.19's release. Also, being that 1.19 is going to be so huge, I think they'd want to give slighty better notice this time around than just 4-5 days. SE may just have wanted to release something for the anniversary and decided to drop some quests that will pre-game the all the other Grand Company stuff that comes with 1.19 (caravan escorts, chocobos, etc..).

I know its vague, but we only know of one thing were recruiting for.

I understand there's a set time for this from start to end, The only thing that's popping out at me besides the companies is this " Eorzean Alliance". Other than that I'm stumped

Actually, it could be something like

Recruitment event: You get to do a special event-only quest to join the company; in fact, this could even be the grand company "speech" mentioned by Yoshida.

After the event:

You just go to the company building and register up normally, no event quest for you.

I haven't said that it won't be coming out at that day. It might. Or it might not! Nothing is confirmed.
