I tried to make one of these of the same exact scene... but it came out really bad, e.e good job ;-;

Not sure why people are having trouble seeing the difference between this and typical multi-boxing (which seems like it would be very difficult in this game considering all the required movement). If the PLD in question were just multi-boxing then there'd be absolutely no reason for the WHM to 'accidentally' use benediction on another player simply because the other player used that word in a sentence (not even the first word of the sentence). Further, it would be absurd for the PLD to admonish the other player for saying 'benediction', as that's not at all disruptive to normal play. Clearly they were using a simple script to control the WHM with chat commands (no idea why they didn't just use a LS that would be private to the two of them, but perhaps that was the original intent) and that's definitely against the ToS.
I find it astounding how many people misunderstand. Are so many just not reading properly?
Thats not legitimate dual boxing. obviously the WHM is being run on a bot or script program that can read text, and the player that requests it, and target the requesting player.
Automation is automation, and is against ToS.
@ OP I think your best bet is reporting things like this to SE and moving on, as all you have done is advertise the fact that something like that is out there by making this post.
Though, if he was dual boxing, what was the actual point of it?
Tanks and healers have almost no queue times so you're bound to get a group in less than 5 mins, even with a bad group its a lot easier and faster to run expert once as tank and again as healer. Seems a lot of unnecessary effort to make a "bot" just to run expert mainly when the botmaster actually has to be present and commanding the bot.
There are even dualboxing guides on youtube for FFXIV and people who make them think that it is completely fine to do that. Things like this need to be permabanned.
Dualboxing in dungeons is pure selfishness and definitely hurts everyone who is in party with them.
Well, from what I've seen of dualboxing, it's more like quadboxing. It seems many of the guides I see, the player is using 4 characters at once to queue for these dungeons so they don't have to play with anyone but themselves (kekeke). IDK if I really have a problem with this to be honest. If they are talented enough to use 4 characters at once, then let them play by themselves. However, I do find it disturbing if someone is only using 2 and queuing up in the DF to get other people, because then the other two players likely suffer.
as someone who use too dual box ( 2 seperate machine) and a game pad user. i had to make lots of macros, alot using /assist and <f> and <ft>,
but i never attempted dual boxing inside the dungeons just because of the nature of the game ( one hand per controller doesnt mean 50% efficient each hand lol )
by doing so you kinda understood the behaviors of the characters that are running on macros ( built in game ). i que all kinds of classes, but like OP said, ive seen my share of tank/whm that had the behavior of dual boxing, and it didnt bothered me. Because on the course of the game i also think about how it was implemented. ( its kinda obvious when tank or whm doesnt dodge trash mobs aoe, likes spaming medica, sort of things ).
but anything more complex than macros built in game such as auto cure when any player drops to 80% hp. would defenetly fall against ToS. To OP and to any player, who discovers this, all we can do is make a report and leave it to the GMs to investigate this.
and to the perpatrator the OP found, man sound like a very flawed script. if i saw that, i would have done the same thing the OP did, just because the the perpatrator can't put a harrassment report against me when all you do is spout random action words in game. if he admits his dual boxing and other person is running a bot, well finish the dungeon first then file a report.
Because trolls like to call out people's BS. Trolls lack reading comprehension and just want to start a fight.
This seemed pretty obvious to me. Mind you the reason why is because I've manually controlled 2 or 3 players of a 4 player party on another game before using 3 separate machines, and it's simply not possible to do this unless one of the characters is basically being a packmule to pick up extra loot. Humans are not built to multitask.
Here's how you roughly tell:
Separate people controlling separate accounts - They react with different response times, and move independently.
One person with several accounts on different machines - They alternate between movements/commands, and move in straight lines. Using key-repeating software also allows one to play several characters of the same class/job.
One person with several accounts from the same machine - One character will move, and then another will, but they will move sluggishly or rubberband, often in straight lines. Often requires all the alternates to be the same class/job from key-repeating software.
One person with several accounts from the same machine in VM/scripting/botting - One character will move like a normal player, and the other characters will operate independently, but won't talk in the party chat at the same time, if they die, they don't ask for help.
The tells for automation often include low-efficiency dungeon running (eg pulling one monster at a time) and being unaware of the surroundings, or "scripted" surroundings:
1) Bots frequently jump into walls/obstructions because their "follow" master gets too far away.
2) Bots run to known objects in the dungeon (eg chests), even when open
3) Standing in AOE's/traps
4) Spamming Sleep
5) Wearing inappropriate gear (Harvesting bots and Spirit-bonding bots are VERY easy to tell because of this, they often have missing right-hand-side gear or dungeon-trash for gear)
It does look like a dualbox running via automation, and it's actually simple to do, you just need a script to keep an eye on the logs for key words and execute the correct command. It's 100% against the ToS and should be reported asap, a simple check of chatlogs should be enough to prove the healer is running via script.
My legacy account could not be recovered according to SE. I spent my alpha and all betas there. Started my ffxiv 2.0 career there. Bottom line. I am offended from it as well. Hyperion used to be the Crown Jewel. The only problem IN post beta days was the market board hack, (lost 5 mil to that myself,) on an alt, and everyone was a bard in the AM/WP days.
Sorry car hit a bump AM should be AK
I've done some serious mult-boxing during my school years, for lineage 2 and Anarchy Online (when it went f2p)
In lineage 2 i had 6 accounts and i set it up so that hitting one button would do something different for each character. and i would have healing buttons on my hotbar for healers, that would otherwise be empty for the dps and tank. And i would have a /follow button for the DPS and Healers that would be empty on the account that was on my main window of focus.
This was especially easy for lineage 2 because about 55% of melee damage came from auto-attacks.
I didnt do it for farming, i did it to play solo in Anarchy Online because leveling up players were extremely scarce.
Lineage II i did it to be a force to be reckoned with, scare off those 1-4 PK players from attacking a party of 1 tank, 4 daggers and 2 healers. When they did have the courage to attack, my force was swift in killing, having 6 characters focus target is a beautiful thing.
Example:
keystroke 1 (Attack)
Tank = /attack
DPS = /assist <tankname> + /attack
Healer = /assist <tankname> + /attack (or /healer nuke)
keystroke 2 (target tank + follow)
Tank = empty
DPS = /target <tankname> + /follow
Healer = /target <tankname> + /follow
keystroke 3 (special attack 1)
Tank = /special attack1
DPS = /special attack1
Healer = /special attack 1
keystroke 4 ( special attack 2)
" "
keystroke 5 ( Target tank and heal)
Tank = /special attack 1 & 2
DPS = /special attack 1 & 2
Healer = /target <tankname> + /heal + /previous target/
keystroke 6 (AoE heal)
Tank = /special attack 1 & 2
DPS = /special attack 1 & 2
Healer = /aoeheal
I've been reported in both Lineage II and Anarchy Online and when i explained how it worked they were like "oh i guess that's not botting, you are free to go."
Mind you this was over 8 years ago bots have come a long way since then, but for the most part still easy to identify because they cant make the same sound judgements as a human.
As for FFXIV, having a similar keystroke/multibox set up would be difficult because for maximum damage every class has a varying rotation that cant be matched by creative keystroke setups. Having a heal bot (when i say bot i mean dualboxing jargon) follow you around might work though, but a chocobo companion fills that role very well.
