Dragoons are overpowered

If this is true I am sad. LolDRG is just how it is supposed to be in FF mmo games. Not OP, not even equal... LolDRG.

NIN friend and I (DRG) are usually very close to each other in damage until the target swaps start. That is when I seem to start falling behind. Think the piercing debuff combo being attached to a DOT hurts DRG a little on mobs that die in 2 combo chains.

In any case I have to agree with what was said in this quote

Talking PVE...
I hope DRG gets some group utility with the xpac. Our stun is unwanted and our slow is a joke.
We do have a few things going for us though.
We do well with TP making it so the Bard or Ninja have 1 less person to worry about.
We can jump off hate allowing us to spike up damage and not hurt the team by pulling threat.
We are flexible in our ability to AOE decently as far as current melee go.
We buff Bard with piercing debuff on enemy mobs.

With xpac:
It would be great to have a second option that is not a DOT to combo off of Disembowel.
(Super reach here) Would be cool to get an INT down that dose not stack with Monk's Dragon kick or some other kind of skill that helps keep a party up through unavoidable damage.

As for if the Dragoons are overpowered I can't say. I don't play a Dragoon or any other DPS so have nothing to compare them with.
But I can't say that I see them as OP at the moment. All I can say is that they're gonna get alot more attention from the playerbase with Heavensward (based of the video with their new shint LB3). But that's just my own belief.

Because they are not, MNK beats NIN in most fights. NIN can burst and spike faster at the start, but over the fight MNK pushes and stays ahead. If a NIN is pushing ahead of you and staying ahead of you, it's either due to gear difference, or skill. Equal skill and equal gear, MNK beats NIN.

Also I've cleared all content (except savage) and run with a NIN in the static. So I'm talking from high level experience as a full time MNK. Not WoD.

Not really true, NIN trumps MNK 99% of the time, and they add to raid DPS which MNK doesn't have. So in terms of contributing to the raid's DPS, even if the NIN parsed slightly lower than the MNK on it's own, it'd still outparse the MNK overall. It's a really small difference between all 3 melee DPS, though, so I wouldn't say NIN is "overpowered" especially since it lacks defensive raid utility, same with DRG.

... I really think this entire conversation is irrelevant. Power scaling and comparisons are likely going to shift with the new expansion coming out late next month. Let's worry about who's 'overpowered' then.

Though... I do feel as if the OP is basing this more on PvP than anything. DRGs are great Duelists, but that does not mean they win the fight for you.

Now that 3.0 made drgns the "look at me" poster child, chances r ur gonna be seeing A LOT of dead dragoon npcs and players.

Well SMN has to have a use somehow.

The reason DRG are good now is the only people left still playing are the ones who got good. Then we got a buff, and well, we can't help it if you're bad at your job. I'm sure Heavensward will return us to our previous loldrg status because DRK being tanks means we're the job for angsty folks or something.

This can't be true. Just checked the dps forums, and there are no MNKs crying. If any class was out dpsing MNKs, we'd be swimming in MNK tears.

Indeed! I'll have to remember to thank Bill Hader again after this thread finally begins to rest with no posts.

Actually heard a few complaints in FC, but I've yet to see overall difference.

Only thing that needs patching is Bard's ability to run around like a chicken without it's head with no penalty whatsoever.

I'd call their damage a penalty.

DRG is not overpowered, the buff only made it more playable. As a balancing factor, it has the highest burst of the melees but the lowest sustained DPS and the weakest utility of any job in the game (the extra dps a BRD gets from Disembowel is the extra damage a good MNK does over a DRG).

Actually equally skilled/geared in terms of DPS potential its NIN > DRG > MNK > Who cares about anything else. That is of course assuming you get no Mudra lag (aka JP onry) If you are not JP then its DRG > NIN > MNK
