You can do more with a PC than just play games. I suspect you know that but why would we expect you and some others to be sensitive to the fact that not everyone is included. We pay the same sub fees as you.

I'm not a dude and my statement is pretty clear (no sarcasm intended) and I think expresses the disappointment that many of us not on PC feel. I'm both a Mac user and a PS4 user and neither was included in this experience. I'll just have to wait I suppose but that doesn't mean I have to be thrilled with the situation.
Since were talking about unfair things can I add my two cents....I find it unfair that some people are idiots...
Your complaining about an unfair advantage????!?!?!?! Really?!?! Because someone gets to start a game 1 hour before you. You do realize that raids are locked out for the first two weeks for this very reason right?
There's this thing called a life..you should look into it.
It's not an unfair advantage. Yeah it sucks that is console players don't get a character creation to play with. The thing is SE would have had to informed Sony of it months, possibly even a year, ahead of time so it could be approved as a download from the PlayStation store. It's not like you can just put something on there just like that. Plus I'm pretty sure any laptop or computer can run the benchmark and the character creation. I'm gonna download it on my little potato of a laptop just so I can play with it.
so.... you don't have a PC?
This day and age when people feel like just because something exists, then they have a right to it. Manifest Destiny I suppose. Must be an american. As many have said, between the fact that 1) this is a standalone download, 2) that early access is a thing, 3) everyone wont be playing at the same time (because time zones exist lol) 4) the "advantage" is at best 10 mins? This is hardly something that needs to be fought over. Rights or no.
There is no Manifest Destiny involved. I'm expressing disappointment that we are excluded. I have that right. Sorry if it doesn't' meet with your standards of approval. Perhaps I should ask your permission to express my feelings. SE does read these boards and I think they should know that other groups would like to have been included. It's pretty simple.
I'm not talking about an advantage time wise. I could care less about that. I would simply like to be able to participate now just like all the PC users are able to. I've learned to wait for many things in life and I'll get my chance when I have that opportunity. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
I wish they would release a character creator for tablets, it would be nice to be able to play with it while waiting for queues or fates. ^^
If that is the case I would like all games to be release on the console and PC at the same time please. :O (Shots fired). I couldn't care less because I own both but I hope you see where im coming from? Can't have everything homie. The sooner you accept this, the sooner you will accept that it isn't the end of the world.
They're called teh lolmasterrace for a reason.
To answer to the OP that was kind enough to quote what I said. The company decided to implement every new feature for the PC players to test it. PS 3/4 don't need it cuz the video games made for that platform is already customize to run without having a problem to upgrade it like us. One thing that it would be good is to give that option to Mac players because they too need to check if their computer have all the required video cards and other parts to run the game smoothly. It's as if you don't want the PC player try out just the character creation cuz u can't since u mainly play on ur ps3/4. Just use ur computer and download it and try it out. Why are you excluding you from using that program. There are options to get access. If you are going to give the excuse of saying but I want to use it on my ps3/4, then you are just giving whines.
Unfair advantage in
WHAT?!
There is no advantage here! People create their Au Ra (or whatever other new character they want) and save it before Heavensward.
What, do appearances matter that much? Or am I missing something here? It's not like we're actually playing the gods damned game.
Last I recall, the point of a benchmark is to see how well your machine performs running the game. I also recall the console version not needing one because almost all settings are predetermined and optimized to work the most efficiently on PS3/PS4. Team made sure to post the video on YouTube so you could see the benchmark video.
As for the Au'Ra character creator. I have a hard time believing you can afford a PS3/PS4 and not own some form of desktop PC. Download it, make your character, make notes of which features you used, then take the entire 10 minutes when the game comes out to make it. No one will be lv.60, beaten all the content, and trashed the AH house about the time you make it.
The lack of understanding in this thread is incredible. If you want to play around with a benchmark, then get a pc. This was created for a PC because it tests components that directly relate to gameplay. Consoles do not need this check because they have a standard hardware the game is catered to fit to. Yes the benchmark gets a new race creator along with it, which is cool, if that's really a huge deal to you maybe you should invest in a PC as I highly doubt any game maker will be releasing a benchmark for a console because all consoles games run on the same specs/hardware. It's not "fair" is not a valid argument. This is a tool released for people to test the specs of their PC to ensure they can play the game, with a character creator thrown in.
If they wanted to appease the console crowds they could have just had an update this morning to include the new race in the present character creator, but they like the rest of us probably felt like it wasn't needed.
You do realize a lot of the people playing with the Au Ra now will more than likely spend an hour or two when early access/launch hits just to see if there's tweaks they can make. Or if their overall opinion on what they made has changed since now. I will be at least XD So there's literally no "advantage" other than we get to play dress up sooner.
Do feel for the console players though. As some have mentioned in the thread it would be nice if they had a character creation app for various devices/consoles that you could just mess with in your off time that could port the data into your game.
Behold and despair! :D

If you don't want to jot down the detail with pen and paper, just use prt scr button? Just paste that to paint or something, I suppose.
Most console players aren't legacy so they don't pay the same. Unless they own a PC too; which they wouldn't complain in this thread I imagine.
On topic, SE already tries to balance out things between platforms which is why pc and even ps4 players are already held down by ps3 players (which will have support dropped for it)
I'm sure MAC may see a benchmark a little bit before the release, but ps4/ps3 tough luck it's not happening no matter how much moaning you do. (Japan has a higher console player base and they don't have a character creator bench for them either.)
I am on PS4 and really do not think it is a big deal. I do not ever recall any benchmarks and have been playing on consoles for many years.
Just download it on PC to give you an idea...
And Raiya go away countless threads you post that same nonsense...
Although I don't necessarily agree with the OP on this; since I don't believe he completely understands how Sony's approval process works. What he's stating in general shouldn't be so far fetched for PC users. I remember seeing similar complaints and concerns coming from PC users when a little game called Grand Theft Auto V was all the craze and there was no real sign of a PC version on the horizon.
But some folks got their cake and get to eat it now and suddenly they act like they can't even comprehend where the OP is coming from. Whatever though I myself amnot overly concerned with it. It'll be here soon enough on consoles and it's not like the PC players are in game running around as Au Ra. They have to wait just as long to actually playas them.
But go ahead and continue on the usual PC to console misconceptions and vise versa...
Remember when MMOs were PC only? Now they complain about not having benchmarks...
You don't need it. Write down your custom choices. Don't have a PC? Should have not purchased a $500 DVD player then. Put them into the dirty console yourself. Or just get a half decent PC. The game is already bottlenecked as it is due to catering to the watered down console specs. Breaking down to make -another- program that works on the console (BTW, ever see PSN's approval process? It sucks) isn't feasible at this point, the damn xpac would be out by then. I do feel bad for Mac people though, no one thinks about them. :(
Saints Row 3 had this. You could make your char and save it till the game was released. o_o
Funny.Something I noticed. When ever a PS user posts something about an issue with a console. The PC gang comes out of the woodwork and bullies all the console users. Yet when a PC user posts about having an issue, you very rarely see a console user posts in those threads about how the consoles don't have that issue.
Its like the little man that drives around in the big truck complex or something.
I don't know about the other people, but why do you think some of use play on console? My PC is a toaster. I can run the bench mark, but the quality is bad, and the colors look different than on my PS4. If we DO make a character on the benchmark via our PC, chances are we're going to have to do A LOT of adjusting in the end. It is pretty unfair.
Doesn't really effect me, cause I'm changing an alt not a main, but for people who just wanna change and go on release, I do feel for them.
There is no need to be rude to people to about it.
This shit right here. You don't even know if they bought their PS4 or if it was a gift or otherwise, pretty ugly stuff to say.
@OP - I'm still not sure what's preventing you from downloading the client on a PC and just running it? Sure it's not EXACTLY the same as a PS4 character creator, but it'll give you a very reasonable facsimile of what to expect.
You're a PS4 user that only has a mac? Well, um, I'm sorry, you're probably in a very VERY niche minority and without malice, I'm going to have to ask you to suck it up and live with it. Sorry.
I would like the ability to test out the character creator for Au'Ra on my PS4.
I do not have a computer that runs the Windows or Mac OS atm.
I don't see how this is an unfair advantage... We PC users aren't winning anything.
I like this:
"If I cant have it, no one can!"Quote:
Then I say remove the Au Ra character customization option and make it not importable on to the expansion cause if you just testing your PC why you need it?

But I agree, it would be nice to do the chr creator for PS3 and PS4, just for kicks. Dont need to claim all this other stuff like "unfair advantage". Just ask for it. Maybe say please?
I'm a console user myself with a 6 year old mid range laptop. I was able to download the Benchmark and fiddle with the Character Creation. True, it wasn't fluid, but it was good enough for me to see all the options
That's anecdotal at best. What you have in this thread is OP who came out of the gates claiming that the benchmark gave PC users an unfair advantage which is completely asinine and absurd. Not too many people agreed with him, and gave plenty of actual discussion as to why. You then quote one of few flippant remarks that were made and proceed to paint the entire "PC gang" with the same brush.
People have to understand that not all games/perks/specials/whatever will be available to all people all the time. There is a very high likelihood that most people that play this game on a console also have a PC at home on which they could download the benchmark. If they don't, well in this case they're out of luck. Can't win them all.
Just a note: it costs money to upload things to the PlayStation store. Like in the thousands. It caused havoc on games like Payday2 because they had to pay a few for each dlc Post d so they said screw it.
