FFXIV Ultimate Fight

For a moment I thought they were finally giving us 1on1 matches mini-game for Gold Saucer.

Oh well...

Ahahaha, wow. This is brilliant.

I'm sure ArcSys would be more than happy if Squenix gave them some money to make a 2D fighting game with FF characters. It worked for Persona 4 Arena and that's a much lesser known JRPG franchise than Final Fantasy.

I would not be against this becoming a real thing... Ah What the Hell... SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!

Reminds me of ffix when you were doing the bit with zindane swordplay at the show. It would be cool as a minigame. I would be ok even if it wifas an old school 2d spin off

A lot of the animation in it, is animation that already exists in the game (for your player characters.) They're just applied to different characters. The actual "new" parts aren't really the combat bits but the choreography of limit breaks.

This was amazing! I loved all the humor in it, especially Minfillia basically taking credit for Yda's win at the end. I would buy this.

looks like re-skinned Street Fighter IV to me.

Nevertheless, awesome! The comedic part on the end kinda blown me away. XD

I would absolutely spend money on this. I would even be willing to by a console for it if I had too.

The video was made with the in-game grpahics engine. Only the animations were custom made. The graphics are the same with those in-game.

While I wouldn't mind it in different circumstances, I think it's bad taste to put out these kinds of gags when there's so little content to the current game.

Not when you are playing it for over a year and have everything maxed long ago. Obviously new and casual players will always find something to do. But for me all that's left is grinding PvP ranks for all 3 GCs. It would be better if development resources were used in something more... useful than this video.

Again with the assumption that dev time was spent on this. This was done purely by the cinematics guy(s). They probably finished with what they needed to get done for the HW launch and thought this would be cool to throw together.. and it was.

Btw no dev team, anywhere, ever can make enough content for everyone to always have something to do. It's impossible. There will be some people that consume all the available content before new stuff is available. That isn't a good or bad thing, it's just a fact. And another fact is that FFXIV's content release schedule is WELL above average in the MMO space.

As someone who loves fighting games... Yes please! :D

But it will probably never happen, would be awesome if it was something they want to do in the Gold Saucer though.

Outsource the work to Dimps or something and make this happen SE! This would be an awesome addition to the game! :D

If it's like in the Gold Saucer maybe it will be an arcade cabinet like the Snowbording and G-Bike games were in FF7 lol. Could make the Class Guild Leaders/Job NPCs playable to represent the jobs though haha. SE needs to make this actually happen. I'd play the crap out of it if it was well balanced and ran smoothly.

1) I guarentee you're more casual than those new players that you call casual.
2) I can guarantee you haven't even remotely maxed everything, unless everything is a convenient private club for stuff you like and have done, and everything else doesn't count.
Even if by some miracle you have done every single thing in the game, were a master of the lore, etc, the devs pump out content so quickly that you couldn't even dare claim the game has no cntent.
Although, if you have, by some sorcery, indeed done every single thing in the game, then... shrug, oh my...
3) More... useful should be if you made research first. This video was made by the cinematic part of the development team, which instantly means that nothing more useful than this could be made in place of this, and actually proves you wrong, and reveal your true colours. And the funny thing is, if this was not made by the cinematic team but by the programming and creative teams, it means that it will at some point be actual game content. In which case your agenda loses again.

Seems like a pitch for a doujin fighter. I'd tweak the roster a bit, though. Something like this:

• Minfilia:
  • Linkpearl
    • Summon one of nine base-class adventurerers to fight for you. Effect determined by RNG.
      
  • Special - "The Echo"
    • Restart the current round.
• Thancred:
  • Gladiator
    • Fights with a single dagger.
  • Rogue
    • Pulls out a second dagger to switch fighting styles.
  • Special - "Urgent Business"
    • "Did I mention I have a date?"
    • Leaves the play area until the round timer expires. Forces a draw for that round.
• Y'shtola:
  • Conjurer
  • Special - "Buzzkill"
    • "I'm smarter than you. Just accept it. "
    • Depletes opponent's Limit Break gauge. Deals extra damage to Yda.
      
• Yda:
  • Pugilist
  • Special - "Oblivious"
    • "Specials are supposed to be attacks, right?"
