I would love to see the Lightning event come back
Except it happened three times before. So its not exactly a one time event.
So let me get this straight. There are people out there that would be legitimately angry if a fate spawned in two or three zones for a week that isn't on the normal fate spawn rotation? Like, you hate the idea of there being a robot behemoth in South Thanalan, a giant brickman in Central Thanalan, or a spriggan golem in East Shroud? Because that is all that "bringing back" the event would entail for those of us that have already finished the event.
Man, that Cactuar fate in Western Thanalan has appeared 17,000 times already, I hope SE stops bringing it back and just puts it on the mogstation for people to purchase.
Yeah, I'd like SE to create some new special events, but I would imagine these events would be super simple to reactivate at any time, and doing so would make people happy. Actually, I wouldn't mind if they added a few more events, and then had ALL of the events on a rotating schedule.
SE didn't do the event 3 times out of kindness for players that didn't get to do it they wanted to promote the game cause it couldn't sell itself.
The first 2 times were for different release schedules of Lightning Returns. They could have easily just placed the event only during one month, either the Japanese or English release month, and did that. So, in retrospect, the second time wasn't because it was for people who missed the first event. It was for the release of the English version, hence, promoting the game's release.
The only reason they had it appear again for the third time was, as many have said, to give new players another chance. The fact remains that they've said on the quest description itself, as well as via forum posts, that the event is limited-time, meaning the event should be considered to be exclusive to those who choose to participate. I'm not against them holding it again, but 2 things come to mind about this, the first being that if they choose to do this, what's to stop them from doing so for any other "limited-time" events? The second (this being a result/product of the former reason) is that the concept of "limited-time" and "exclusivity" may as well be thrown out the window, because that's pretty much the only reason to have "limited-time" events and items.
I don't see why people advocate for re-releasing events simply on the basis that it doesn't hurt current players, only helps new players.
That's not the point people are trying to enforce. It's that people should PLAY the game when the event is occurring. Part of the incentive to playing the game early on is for features like this: if you miss out on something, that was because you weren't present/supporting the game at the time. Why should you get something you weren't present for?
If you're talking about a FATE that is already present in the game since before Lightning Returns even appeared as an in-game event and, considering that one is actually touted as in-game content as opposed to the other, yeah, OK. The logic is apparent.
tl:dr Leave limited-time events where they lay. If you want the items, be present at the time they're given out. There will be future events to look forward to, instead.

right I agree with you
Well, I don't mind it not happening again. As long as there is a new event with new hairstyles that only player characters who didn't do the event before can do.
Now that would be truley special.
Add Sephiroth's hair!
