But players need it to advance to the expansion content.

I don't remember getting SoF on roulette any time recently. Just don't queue for groups in progress, it's the only trial people ever usually ditch so of course you'll get sent there a disproportionate amount.
it's not the difficulty. steps of faith are just a really bad fight wich makes absolutly no fun. my job as heal was playing bait for the adds and let people die because they are all out of range (i simply can't run after all of them...). i hate that fight so much that i am not doing trial roulette anymore xD
i'm wiping with randoms the whole hour in exprimal fights, or titan hardmode in the trial roulette (before 2.55 xD). but i'm not paying this game to do a fight wich i simply hate. T9 is way more fun even with the wipes o.o/
but i am pretty sure all new players will finish this fight. square can't sell 3.0 to them when they don't finish it xD so nerf incoming... (lol at the 70% wipes)
They just need to add it to the Scenario Roulette. All those take forever already anyhow.
Titan HM had a 90% fail in DF in 2.0/2.1 till they added Trial roulette at all. ifrit was at 30% Garuda 40% (?). The roulette made better players do em daily more people got to redo and learn the fights and were able to pass knowledge and hints on. 2.55 is not even 3 weeks old just give it its time o.O
That on I agree its a pain if you botch communication (like we did with FC someone said "Snares!" "Now!" and the person on killer misstook it as signal to shoot :( )
Or imagine a tank or anyones DC or anything else I really wonder why you need to wait the full 15 min till the wipe FINALLY happens
They should either make it so the fight is automatically failed if you miss one of the dragon killers, or add a way to voluntarily reset it.
It wouldn't feel like such a waste of time if we weren't forced to continue for another 10 minutes after missing the first snare, knowing that it'll just end up as a loss anyway.
Wait until the majority is 60 in Alexander gear and it will be like the other trials.
I'm fine with the whole thing , it gives such a rush playing through it.
I hope they post in an I sync before people get so high they simply burn the dragon and its adds sans cannons
Imo the reason y most parties fail is cuz gasp* the dps actually have another responsibility that isn't just pressing 1-2-3 on boss.
Most healers i ran with in df usually call or say one of the healers need to do dragon killers while ofc dps r like
Huh wat do zzzzz.
Ah missunderstood :)
Gotta admit the first run I did with half static/Fc we didnt manage to target this huuuuuge dragon thingy (btw y does it even walk across the bridge if it could simply fly above the barriers? :/) and we only figured snares out at 3rd tower... we wiped at 89% lol :p
Thank you for this post. Everyone wants to QQ now a days about getting this instead of teaching new players how to do it. And it really is that simple to give directions for. Don't assume you are going to get a fail group and then fail your instance because of your attitude.
And your last part Tiggy, we really do. We got spoiled with all of this face roll content that people expect trials to be a certain amount of time. If they were then the instance timer would be set to that, this is a roulette for trials... period. Not oh this is a roulette for trials that may last about 5 to 10 min. Plus, I'm sorry, but seeing how many people wipe to trials, we really need to keep the challenging stuff in there for most people to practice.
As DPS, knowing when to keep hitting vishap and when to burn down that turtle clinging to life is important.
Also, any tricks to build the limit gauge help.
But the whole thing that the fight hinges on is making sure people know what they are doing while vishap is moving with adds. Ideally you should have the NPCs able to help DPS vishap. Otherwise things get uncontrollable with the adds going everywhere.
The wave of "good/dedicated" players progressing through SoF is over, now people are often times unwilling or downright incapable of cooperating (language/knowledge/skill/mechanics barrier), making for an aggravating time. Time I could spend having fun elsewhere.
Now don't get me wrong, I love spreading knowledge of the fights we're doing, but after the oomphteenth time of being stuck with a bad/incapable group you just kind of grow sour. I have patience around the people I care about. People on Duty Finder is not on that list.
I know it's a roulette and it's part of the "mechanics" of a roulette, but I'd rather deal with a 30min DF cooldown than 30 minutes of effort most often in vain.
If you want to learn a fight, respect people's time and make a practice party on Party Finder. Duty Finder locks everyone in for a set period of time (or else DF cooldown), so show some respect and come freaking prepared. How hard is that?!
I've gotten SoF about a dozen time so far doing daily roulette, I usually roll as tank for the role bonus.
Only times I've failed have been when I joined in progress and we ran out of time. Every time I was there from there from the start, we've successfully completed it. Biggest waste of time isn't from having to restart the fight, or even explaining the mechanics, it's from having to find replacements from people dropping as soon as they enter.
My last few times in SoF, we've actually one shotted it with newbies, hell today we did it with only 7 people (never filled other tank role). Guess the old English quote is true, "there are no bad students, only bad teachers"
