I think they are just going to prioritize queue for story dungeons are trials more so new players can catch up with the story faster.

I've never tried that server but guess this lock of DF comes out because of too many leavers at the beginning of the roulettes. Many of my friends there complain about "rage-quit towers" (that's lota or/and ST I guess) but I never get the point... these adjustments make me sure that I'll never go join my friends there.
Communism, socialism, if any institution could not be flawed, I would choose this.
It probably has to do with the way DF groups worlds. For example Worlds A B C and D are together and Worlds E F G and H are together, after this update worlds A through H will be together increasing the likelihood of finding a player doing same said content. And since they are expecting new players for the expansion its a way to ensure faster queue times to and not discourage them from playing through the old story content and low level dungeons that older players will have no need of doing.
OP missed the important part "In preperation for the upcoming expansion" aka not something that will affect us now, but putting the system in place for taking the new jobs into the expansion to use DF.
It could be something as simple as prioritizing the steps of faith trial, considering finishing the full line of msq is required for heavensward and this new trial is part of it. Something like...
-Player A queues for odin trial
-Player B C D queues for trial roulette and gets assigned to A's group
-Player E comes and queues for step of faith
-System would immediately shift B C D to E's group first because it thinks it's more important
Though I kinda think could lead to groans and facepalms from many when they experience something akin to "i queued for low roulette 300 times and it keeps giving me tamtara!"
Wasn't there something told about retainers in duties in Heavensward?
The patchnotes tell in preparation for the expansion. So maybe....it has something to do with that?
Well something needed done. Lets prepare for the worst and hope for the best!!

They definitely need to change the way they word their patch notes and such....
wow looking through this thread tanks a spoiled brats
I'm sure whatever the change was, it won't stop people from being lazy leeches who think they can queue on Bard and sit back and not play any songs and participate with the minimum amount of effort.
It also won't stop people from bringing Scholar into easy raids such as WoD so they can get practice in a Level 50 environment with more than 4 players without too much pressure to play perfectly and where it's okay to make mistakes.
The only thing surprising about your screenshot is that your UI is more cluttered than mine.
Scholars are op. It's why you see raids of 6 scholars and no white mages. No one mains a white mage.
I wouldn't be surprised if nothing was changed.
Could just be luck of the draw, but since the patch my queues are horrendous on blm. Almost not even a point on there now, might as well just queue as whm. So it doesn't seem they did anything good...
There are some theories about the DF. I don't understand why they don't just tell us how it works? Would it be so hard to say once you get matched into a group in stops looking for inprogress. It prioritizes Totorak, Stone Vigil, and Ifrit over all other instances. I have actually had a roulette with all of us in roulette get an ifrit and all of us being over 45 and achievements that say they have all pre 50 stuff unlocked.
One problem I have with the Duty Finder is when the Duty Finder has assembled a party and is waiting for everyone to hit the confirmation button. Someone withdraws, and it begins looking for a replacement. The problem is this: half the time I immediately get prompted again for a new confirmation, but half the time I get put back in the queue in a party with no one else. That should *never* happen. I've waited in the queue, my turn came up, someone (not me) withdrew, so the Duty Finder should be doing what it claims to be doing: finding a replacement. Not trying to form a brand new party with me as the sole founding member.
Too many times that happens.
As of now, the changes i've noticed so far would be that when i was queuing for trial roulette, i can't seem to join in progress to the new trial while someone just joined in progress (alone in the instance) to step of faith from my LS.. It could also be that there are 7 others players at that time got queue pop and waiting for the timer to run out..
While the trial that popped for me was titan hm with 4 newly dps to the fight who died all the time..
The join in progress works: we got half party and with time all positions filled one by one.
By "adjusted" it seems to mean "broken."
Post-patch I queue as a BLM for five different dungeons/trials. It says "average wait time under 5 minutes." Eventually this pops back and forth to 6 minutes, then 16 minutes, then 5 minutes....end result, I finally get into a group in 35 minutes.
Today, same thing, "average wait time under five minutes." 30 minutes later, I just give up.
I understand that these are approximations and not a guaranteed time to get in, but I'm not the only one in my FC having HUGE disparities between what it says and reality (and that includes the tanks and healers). Before this patch the waits were never this wonky.
Whatever they did to the algorithm in the last patch was a major fail. Considering that a ton of the endgame progression depends on getting groups in DF, this is an issue which makes me contemplate ending my sub. If I have 3 hours to play, I'd rather not have 30 total minutes of playtime and 2.5 hours of waiting in DF.
If you keep an eye on the DF window while it's assembling a party, it seems to be even more trolltastic than ever before.
0 tank 0 healer
0 tank 1 healer
0 tank 2 healer
1 tank 2 healer
...
2 tank 0 healer
Plus it seems to keep getting "stuck", I'm constantly getting to the point where it's missing either tanks or healers and gone way over the average queue time, but if I drop out and re-queue I seem to get a full group much faster than just waiting it out.
What NEED to be addressed is when my DPS wait 20 minutes for a dungeon, then we commence, then the tank or healer leaves once the mission start. I sat in Stone Vigil for an additional 15 minutes because only DPS kept joining and leaving.
This would cause me to have to start over in an attempt to get Zodiac item.
it could just be me, but in most of my WoD runs I've seen one of each job
So what the hell changed?
Just you.
Sycrus Tower df was ready to go, 1 dps didn't accept the que, times out, then it dumps me into Labrynth of the Ancients que, been waiting for an additional 19mins instead of putting me back into Sycrus Tower. Yeah i checked both ST and LoA but ST was ready to go.
In short they made it worst.
I hate that crap. It needs to replace just the people who don't commence. I hate when all tanks and healers hit commence immediately, and a couple of DPS's time out, with a 24 man dungeon... and then we get another queue pop a few seconds later, but this time a couple of tanks or healers time out- most of the time, they probably aren't the same ones who had hit commence in the prior attempt as before, because those had all hit commence immediately.
Whatever they did, I noticed my WoD queue time on bard was much longer than usual yesterday. I didn't know about the duty finder changes though, so I figured it must have been a freak thing, and maybe it was... but maybe it wasn't?
