Interesting insight, but I'm sure when most people say cats, they mean meow cats, not felines in general :D

Someone actually sent me a tell in-game asking me to send my character creation data to them so they could copy my character. I was torn between being flattered and offended.

Thats just sad.. Originality is always cooler. Otherwise we may as well go back to FFXI and the 3-6 options with A or B hair color variations

Permission is not needed. OP has the right to create a character that looks like the pic if he/she wants. I see tons of lightning clones in Mor Dhona, so who copied who?

But those people are copying an NPC that exists within this game series, it's a bit different when you take someone else's photo of a character they personally customized to their liking, and ask other people to pick it apart so you can copy it without actually contacting the original player. Not to mention the laziness of making other people figure it out for you.

I actually don't see much difference here. Both the original creator of Lightning and the Miqo put some effort in making them 'unique' (tho we know the Miqo isn't that unique bc of the Lightning hair). I know it's okay to copy the Lightning look since we (well I don't bc I haven't played the game at the time) got the hair and outfit but how unique can we actually be if we got all that stuff to make us look like her?
And I wouldn't say the OP is lazy - they said they tried and it didn't came out as they wanted so they asked for help from other players. Me and someone else trying to recreate the char wasn't bc we had to but we just wanted to try.
Yes, it would be nice to ask the creator of the char for permission but it's not like we have copyrights on our creations ö_ö

I see the same face with the same hairstyle and color all the time when I travel through populated areas, regardless of race. There's a thousand white haired elezen. Another million black haired male miqo'te. My point is, we are free to copy each other without permission. If the OP wants to copy another look, regardless of the source, they have every right to do so. If someone copied my look, what could I do? Tell them to stop? Report them to SE? Or just accept that someone liked how I look and mimicry is the best form of flattery.

Honestly, this thread is getting rather silly. The OP just wanted help. This doesn't need to escalade into an argument over who's playing the copycat game. I'm pretty sure your character is not a special snowflake, and neither is mine. Let's just move on please. I'm out.

Agreed. The pic isn't anything to go crazy over.

The problem is not whether or not the image/character looks good or not. The problem is all about players opinion that is why people are stating that "the character uniqueness", " freedom to copy the image of other players toon". We all have the tendency to copy or get something we like from someone or a picture from other game/anime. Then again there might be someone else coming to say their opinion about how the image they make comes from their mind/imagination.

Keepers skin shades can get very dark,extremely pale almost white to nearly black and the darker it goes the less blue-ish it is. I had to play with mine a bit to get it like I have it now because I wanted the blue-ish tint
