I'll get the standard edition w/ Preorder bonus.

Fun fact, the Collectors Edition for FFXIV:ARR back in 2013 was $118 (I kept my invoice~). Include express shipping ($8) and GST, $126. Now I'm not 100% certain how much the AUDollar has changed over those two years, but that CE only came with a book, DVD's and some cards. So...
As mentioned in another thread, it is clearly the statue that has greatly increased the total cost of the CE - I used to collect gaming figurines and statues and some sold for upwards of $300 on their own - I'm only making an assumption here but if that statue was sold separately it would probably sell for around $150-$200 on it's own. Meaning you have over half the CE's total cost wrapped up in that dragon statue.
CE went on sale today at 12pm for $300 per unit. They sold out within one hour.
This is why prices will not change but in fact continue to go up for these items. It may have been re-sellers buying them all up.. it may not. Fact is that people bought them, regardless of cost.
I've ordered the standard PS4 edition via Ozgameshop for $56.99.
You can get from square enix store https://store.eu.square-enix.com/apac_au/ or greenmangaming http://www.greenmangaming.com/
Here and there I've been trying to read up on this issue and it looks messy.
Now here is a thought. Now here's another thought.
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...a+minimum+wage
16.87 minimum wage, that's insane. Look. You have to think of it like this, a business who has to hire a certain amount of people let's say for games they have 10 employees paid at mininum wage and then you have 5 higher ranks, and then 10 big wigs.
So 10 mininum at 16.87(32390/yr), 5 high ranks are 40/hr(76800/yr) and big wigs makes 150k/yr.
So you have these numbers, Now big wigs will be split with their weekly pay, 5 high ranks all work 40hrs and the minimum wage could be half and half full time, part time. 40hr 20hr.
5(Full Time)(16.87)=3374
5(Part Time)16.87)=1687
5 High Rank=8k
10 Big Wigs=31250
(Cost for employees only on a weekly basis)=44311
Now think about this.
Average US game price. 60
Average AUS Game price. 100
Purely on games at that price, they would need to sell 444 games a week just to break even.
Swap it over to US price and you have 739 games that need to be sold, that changes the break even point to nearly 1.5 times more compared to AUS price.
Now in terms of US mininum wage. 7.25, high rank, 15/hrs, big wig 90k/yr
Now using the same amount of employees as above.
5(Full)7.25=1450
5(Part)7.25=725
5(High rank)15=3k
10=18750
Looking at 23925 a week in employee cost, compared to 44311.
Using same prices as above for games 60/100
With 60 a game 399 need to be sold to break even, right there is enough info to showcase the point I"m trying to make.
Honestly the problem with pricing could come down to the minimum wage, because it's set so high, in turn products need to be charged more because otherwise they won't make profit off it. In turn you get over double what some other countries might get but pretty much near the cost of paying about double for things, so in the end your "minimum wage" is somewhat equivalent to other countries because your country has to adapt the prices of their products to the minimum wage
--
Also here's another variable to consider, there are 23mil people in Australia, 319 in USA, and 127 in Japan. So not only do the lower wages allow for products to be sold at a lower break even point but they also have a larger population to work with increasing their odds of profit, compared to Australia their just aren't as many consumers on top of the higher minium wage while yes the double digits look nice it only seems to work against their favor because it forces employers to charge more for products in order to continue to pay their employees.
That's some good math.
Wonder why other Aussie retailers can sell their games for cheap. Up to $20-$30 in places like Target, K Mart and Big W. Pity they're not brining in Heavensward. Someone in the XIV marketing department is not doing their job.
So I guess miniature dragon statues in Australia are all worth around $180 then? That $180 is purely coming from what I said the CE from 2013 cost ($118. $126 with shipping and GST). Will not be surprised to see SE release the CE without the dragon statue, for much cheaper, in the future.
Answer: Because Target, K-Mart, Big-W etc. are all in a buying group that can buy at insanely low wholesale prices. EB Games can't even match their buying power total and thus has to sell higher, and those of us unfortunate enough to belong to independant game sellers, I won't go into details but it's a case of being (verbed) multiple times (multiples of a thousand that is) from sunday (which is double of the (verbing) again).
I would have liked the opportunity to order the physical CE, but I found a day late about EB having the CE, which apparently sold out in about an hour. I can't say I would have gone through with it with that price though. I am really disappointed because the physical CE actually had stuff that I would like to get. It's the same as the Art Book and Soundtrack that was released, it might as well not have been available at all here. Digital CE it is.
It also sucks for the community team for XIV, who from my experiences with them are really nice. Maybe if they were the ones calling the shots, there would be enough stock to go around, and an appropriate price. It's unfortunate that they have to try and handle the situation with the upset fans, I know I wouldn't want to go to work in the morning.
the dragon is on ebay.com for 100 and id say there will be other items to buy seperatly theres certainly a market for it make more profit then selling rank 4 materia lol
