Are characters who appear in multiple separate questlines immune to being killed?

I guess this means my theory of certain quests taking place at a certain place in the timeline is correct, which is the best way to go about it, as the alternate would mean they'd have to edit quite a bit each time. Apparently though, certain dialouge in Ul'dah has now changed.

Most of the people in Ul'Dah don't know about what happened, only the immortals flames, the city guards and Momodi seems to know what happened ( meaning the PLDs are still in the dark )

Does anyone know if Estinien reacts differently if you START the dragoon quests AFTER meeting him in the 2.55 main story quests?

I also happen to have saved the whole DRG questline, so I'll get around to it before too much longer and let people know how it plays out.
