Eh, crafting and gathering are a joke to level, even without doing leves and just doing HQ GC turn ins everyday gives tons of exp - I pretty much capped my alt's gathering/crafting mostly doing GC turn ins.
I think its easy for OP to suggest that the leves get nerfed, after he/she has taken advantage of them and has almost reached level 50. Sounds very selfish, in my opnion. As others have said, if you want to get less exp, do not do them.
I actually had a LOT of fun (serious) getting geared properly to make HQ turn-ins for leves when I crafted. It was a challenge and to find the right rotation for each class as you're learning skills. Sure you can just spam regular turn-ins but then your leves will run out really quick and you're back to regular crafting.
This is also a really good point. Higher level crafting almost requires leveling almost all crafts for certain skills. So there's a lot of work involved esp. given that leves do run out.
Then be annoyed at yourself and not the leves if the issue is your inability to use some self control. :D
Gaining EXP on crafters is harder than battle classes, you not only have to procure your own materials most of the time which either costs you sometimes substantial gil or effort leveling other gatherer/crafting classes...but other than actually crafting things, leves and GC/tribal provisional's is pretty much the only EXP gaining systems in place for the class and most of them cost gil or time and effort on alternative classes. It does not need a nerf, you just need better self control if you dislike one or more of those leveling systems. It is coming across to me and others that you are more than happy to use the system to max your own character but want it nerfed so future players cannot have that same leveling experience.
The main issue IMO is that battle and gathering leves are hot garbage for XP compared to crafting leves. Given you only get 6 leves a day, you'd be an idiot to waste that limited number on the other types unless you've got all your crafts at 50 already. Sure, there's other ways of levelling battle/gathering skills, but there's other ways of levelling crafting as well, it's just the crafting leves have a huge comparative advantage over the other leves.
I'd be firmly in favour of gathering/battle getting leves a big XP boost, as it is there's almost no reason to waste your allowances on them and they're arguably more of a timesink than the crafting ones are.
I never understood why people complained about something good. Having all crafts to 50 I enjoyed using leves but I mostly grinded items because when I was leveling my crafts I was also doing other things like leveling battle classes etc. IMO the xp rate is just fine and should be left as is.
Battle classes gain a lot of EXP through dungeons, fates and leves give reasonable amounts but less than farming dungeons. Crafters have no ability to gain EXP from hunts, fates or dungeons and leves tend to cost the crafter a lot of money or a vast amount of time leveling alt gathering and crafting classes. Both DoW/DoM and DoL have free EXP gaining options but crafters do not have many unless they farm all their materials themselves on other DoL/DoH classes. So while it might seem like DoH has more EXP from leves etc, that additional EXP is required unless you remove the requirement to level alt DoH or DoL classes in order to balance out with the DoW/DoM/DoL ones, none of which require a secondary class or as much gil to actually level.
Again, minds tend to take the easy route so since it is here "who wouldn't take advantage of it". That doesn't mean having this lump of EXP is exactly a good thing either. So I am giving my opinion on why I think it is too much EXP. If the EXP were in the "sweet spot" not EXP overload, I wouldn't be complaining here, I wouldn't be so called "selfish" because I wouldn't be here talking about it right now.
It's whatever though, I said my opinion and trying to let this thread just drop, but then we got some people that just want to call me selfish rather than just speak your opinion on why you don't like it and leave it at that. Not try to attack the person with an opinion.
Anyways, I would like this topic to just fade away as I did came away with good reasons why to keep the EXP as it is. Thank you everyone that contributed! :)
Not the case. You get massive amounts of experience from single items if you increased the items quality by a lot. Levequest leveling is insanely fast as a crafter. But to be honest, so is simply making items.
Hmm, I actually leveled all of them from 35-50 with nearly only levequests (aside from armorer and culi, those went from 25-30 to 50~). Some say that crafting items in the dozens is tedious..but is it any less tedious to teleport from your main city to dragonhead, ride to the observatorium and teleport back, repeat; for several dozen times in a row?
Regardless of which is more ''tedious'' however, both are very fast ways of leveling compared to battle or gathering classes.
I dont feel it is expensive at all, personally I made a good amount of gil leveling my crafting classes. If a particular leve range is expensive, why not just make items for those 5 levels instead?
o_O. Its much faster/easier to gain exp as a crafter.
Isnt that the whole point of being a crafter in the first place..to craft things?
With all that said, I feel the other leves give a bit too little exp. Crafting leve exp is actually pretty well balanced with the amount of exp you can get by simply making items.
Gathering leves barely give more exp then simply gathering; and you don't even gain any items from them.
This thread is still here? Wow.... whining about crafting leves giving "too much" XP? Lol... if it was any lower, it wouldnt have been fun... so the XP values for them are just fine.
Indeed, gaining a level in 5 minutes work is a lot of fun. Most of that time is spend travelling to the turn in NPC, after all: lot's of fun. I understand if anyone would like to keep their extremely fast way of leveling (I've made use of it myself as well), but please don't try to claim it's ''fun'' because goddess no, it just isn't.
