Progression locks are bad

Se having old content still locked doesn't have to make sense.
Maybe they forgot or maybe they will get to it sometime before 3.0.
Or perhaps they just don't care cuz they can spend all that caring on how to execute 3.0.
Maybe they will change how they lock things in the future, maybe they won't.

Just bide ur time and save all the hooplah for 3.0 raiding cuz if ur in the "hopeless" situation atm then starting fresh into the raiding scene ( clearing content when its the "hot" new thing ) is probably the best approach.
3.0 is probably the make it or break it moment for a lot of ppl as the carrot on the stick, weekly loot lockout, 1 static raid group, tome gear is tiring them out.
Another year of this? Hopefully not.

You should also think in the view of the groups that are advertising lfm for final coil.

What do they expect? People that have beaten the earlier content and know how to play their class nearly at optimum and, very important, how to play in a group.

If the gates T5 and 9 would be removed, these groups would get flooded by requests of people in full poetics gear, max 150 dps and absolutely no clue about how to coil or how to play in a group. That is not what these groups are looking for.

It sounds elitist. But when you really think about it, removing that gates would destroy more groups, than it would help to form them.

As I know from many groups that were looking for new players for final coil, they are mostly willing to help people through t5 and t9, if they are good and show the needed effort to learn these things.

Don't quote me on it, but I read multiple times that T10-12 are considered easier than T9, even by the developers, so the first part does not really make sense.

Even without taking the above into account, I don't agree with the sentiment that the removal of gating would destroy groups.
